Desperate Housewives‘ Ricardo Chavira is set as a lead opposite Mike O’Malley and Mary McCormack in Welcome To The Family, NBC‘s single-camera comedy from Mike Sikowitz and Sony TV. This week marks the return of Dolly Parton to the big screen for the first time since Straight Talk, 20 years ago (though she voiced a character in 2011's Gnomeo & Juliet). Joyful Noise pits her against Queen Latifah in a battle of the busts I like to think of as "Gospel Glee."
All joking aside, Joyful Noise is a family-friendly comedy in the same vein as Footloose with a wholesome message that doesn't get in the way of the fun. Writer/director Todd Graff (Bandslam, The Beautician and the Beast) has a definite hit in this movie.
The Pacashau Sacred Divinity Choir is in the middle of a performance when long-time director Bernard Sparrow (Kris Kristofferson) suffers a fatal heart attack. In order to continue to the annual Joyful Noise gospel competition, the church leaders must choose between his wife, G.G. (Parton) and Vi Rose Hill (Latifah), who has been his second for many years.

We loved Kevin Bacon as Ren in the original "Footloose." And the actor has been quiet regarding the new remake...until now...
I enjoyed "Footloose" the remake, you enjoyed it too, and apparently, Bacon thinks the new film "rocked it!"
Bacon tweeted, "F-Loose! Just saw it. Congrats to Craig, Kenny, Julianne, Dennis,Andie, Miles, and the rest of the cast. U guys rocked it!"
It's kind of cool that Bacon paid for his own ticket to see the film (he tweeted the picture of his ticket stub, check it out here). But why did he not attend the premiere instead? He was probably waiting until the hype surrounding the Craig Brewer remake subsided before cutting loose, Ha!
But thanks Mister Kevin, we still love you as Ren, but we enjoyed Kenny Wormald's moves as well!

It was a fight to the finish between box-office champ "Real Steel" and new contender "Footloose." Over the weekend, the two movies were only separated by $200,000 but today, based on the box-office weekend actuals from BoxOfficeMojo, "Real Steel" gets to keep its crown.
The Hugh Jackman film featuring the fantastic Dakota Goyo as his son reclaimed the top spot with $16.3 million.

If you’re familiar with the original “Footloose” then you remember that it was filled with a bright new cast of young actors that plenty of movie goers have never seen before. Now we know who Kevin Bacon and Sarah Jessica Parker is, but back when the 1984 movie came out they were fresh new faces. Craig Brewer follows those casting footsteps from the original for the remake of “Footloose” as he brings another new batch of young Hollywood actors front and center for the nation to see. One of those new actors is Ziah Colon who’s making her feature film debut in the music-filled comedy-drama “Footloose.” The bouncy young actress...

Chicago – If you’re gonna cut loose, “Footloose,” it is best to do what the production team and cast did in cutting this remake of the 1980s kitschy classic – pay deep homage to the source and modify it with a energetic and contemporary spin on the dance floor.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
This “Footloose” has a spark of its own, due to the guidance of veteran director Craig Brewer (”Hustle and Flow,” “Black Snake Moan”). He creates a Footloose universe that absorbs the dimensions of the previous film, and steers the young cast to take all of it seriously enough to find their own way through the story. Although suffering from a few soft spots in the middle, “Footloose’ brims with enough frenetic dancing, friendship and real emotion to make a case that this is the better version.

Updating a classic can be treacherous, like building a strip mall on hallowed ground; but director Craig Brewer ("Hustle & Flow") avoided the dreaded "High School Musical" route for his remake of "Footloose."
Fans will be relieved to hear that two of the original songs made the cut. Some other adjustments include having four very different dance sequences, and demolition derby buses instead of tractors. Brewer also anchored the script by fleshing out a backstory in which five Bomont teens were tragically killed after a night of dancing and loud music.
But the best upgrade to "Footloose" is the casting of professional dancers in the two lead roles. Everybody loves '80s dance movies, but come on, back then it was super-obvious whenever they swapped Kevin Bacon or Jennifer Beals with their wig-wearing dance doubles.

The film, opening this Friday, is already catching some major buzz.

For some film fans who have precious, emotional connections to Kevin Bacon and the original "Footloose," the release of the remake this week, starring relative acting newcomers Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald, has been met with some hesitation.
Luckily, the stars of the Craig Brewer-directed retelling are fully aware of pressure to live up to the original, and they're happy to help alleviate any fears fans may have by addressing the misconceptions they've heard along the way.
"I've seen on Twitter a lot that 'Patrick Swayze would be upset' that we're remaking it," Ziah Colon said of a fear that attached the "Dirty Dancing" actor to the role Bacon originated.

Seventeen years after the original "Footloose" inspired audiences around the world to kick off their Sunday shoes, Craig Brewer's "Footloose" remake arrives in theaters this Friday, October 14.
Although Brewer and his filmmaking forebear, Herbert Ross, share an affection for music-driven movies, it remains to be seen whether the director of "Hustle & Flow" and "Black Snake Moan" will go on to Ross's highs of "The Secret of My Success," or the lows of "Undercover Blues."
In the meantime, we took a look at both theatrical versions of this iconic story in order to see what they have in common, and where Brewer might have cut a little bit loose.
The Location: Although both films are set in a town called Bomont, the '84 film takes place in Utah, which actually has a town with that name, while the '11 film relocates the conflict to the South, fabricating a Bomont, Georgia.

Miles Teller (Willard) and Ziah Colon (Rusty) are stepping into mighty big shoes just like the rest of the cast of .Footloose.. The character of Willard was personified by Chris Penn in the original, and Rusty was played by Sarah Jessica Parker long before she became Carrie Bradshaw in the .Sex and the City. franchise.
But both actors came out on top and gave their own spin to their respective roles.
In this interview, we talked about:
*** What made them cut loose for .Footloose?.
*** Are they nervous that they.re stepping into some mighty big shoes?
*** Miles used to play Willard in a high school production of .Footloose. the musical
*** How did they research their roles?
*** What happens to their characters after the prom?

Once upon a time, residents in Elmore City, Oklahoma were not allowed to dance. That became the basis of the 1984 .Footloose. movie written by Dean Pitchford and directed by Herbert Ross.
Twenty seven years later, writer-director Craig Brewer (.Hustle & Flow,. .Black Snake Moan.) decided to take on the dubious task of remaking the iconic movie. Everyone doubted Brewer, including me. But I entered the theater a skeptic and walked out a believer.
Let.s be honest here. The original .Footloose. was not necessarily a cinematic masterpiece. Most of the characters were treated as caricatures, and the film lacked motivation. The soundtrack headlined by Kenny Loggins was far more memorable than the movie itself.
But Brewer did something short of miraculous. He made improvements to the storyline while being respectful of the original. The result is a film that is more of an homage than a remake. And dare I say it,...

Whether it takes place in 1984 or 2011, the Footloose premise will never be plausible. No matter how small the place, I can’t wrap my head around a town council banning the act of dancing and listening to loud rock ‘n’ roll for minors under the age of 18 in any era other than the 50s. Maybe I’m giving ultra-conservative America too much credit or am reading into the set-up for a dance movie too deeply, but Craig Brewer’s remake doesn’t thankfully make all dancing illegal, just non-school/church related. In this, I can almost look beyond the contrived plot device to see the message beneath. Or at least disregard it enough to have fun.
While much more entertaining to experience and feel the rhythm of the music, Brewer’s Footloose unfortunately dumbs down the message by hitting us over the head with it early and often. Whereas Dean Pitchford...

Clip from Paramount's Footloose remake called Line Dance, starring Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough and Dennis Quaid. The reboot of Footloose is around the corner, opening almost a month from now on October 18th. We have a new clip from the Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan) film which also stars Ziah Colon, Ray McKinnon, Miles Teller, Ser'Darius William Blain, Patrick John Flueger and Maggie Elizabeth Jones. Whether this will perform well come box office debut weekend, is another thing. Remakes are touch and go and considering hardly anyone has heard of the male and female leads, that makes it risky business. Still, watch the new clip and catch other videos including TV spots for Footloose below it.

A new trailer for a remake of 1984's dance-tastic movie "Footloose" has been made available for viewing pleasure. Coming out via Yahoo! Movies, the video is studded with various street dancing and fighting scenes. It also includes more romantic scenes between Ren McCormack and Ariel Moore.
While the first trailer presents a lot of dialogues from the characters, this new one focuses more on the storyline. It is also dominated by various fast-cut scenes with constant percussive soundtrack as the backsound.
Just like the plot of the original version which was directed by Herbert Ross, the remake movie follows a city youngman, Ren, who moves from Chicago to an old fashioned and conservative Beaumont town. Along with his girlfriend Ariel, he rebels against the town's law that bans public dancing and rock music after a post-dance car accident claimed the lives of five local youngsters.

Following yesterday’s debut of the new “Footloose” poster, Yahoo! Movies has brought forth the brand new trailer for the film, set to shimmy into theaters on October 14, 2011. You know how in all those girly dance films the girl moves to a different town to “be somebody” and make try making it into the dance world after their mother was a dancer and all that? The “Footloose” remake reminds me of those films…minus the dead parents and all that other nonsense. And what can you expect with this new trailer? Lots of dancing, obviously. Country dancing, sexy dancing, solo dancing, it’s all there. But I’ll let you guys be the judge of that. The rebooted “Footloose” stars Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough, Dennis Quaid, Ziah Colon, Ray McKinnon, Miles Teller, Ser’Darius William Blain, Patrick John Flueger and Andie MacDowell. Paramount has released the trailer for its remake of the 1984 movie "Footloose." From what I remember of the original film, a rebellious teen attempts to abolish a small town's ban on rock & roll and dancing. All of the while falling in love with the minister's daughter of course.
Well, it looks like director Craig Brewer ("Hustle & Flow," "Black Snake Moan") has added his own touch to the film, because I swear I saw not only major explosions in the trailer, but I also caught a glimpse of what looks to be some serious yard stomping.
Whether that is a good or a bad thing, I will leave up to the viewer. This film is slated for an October release, and the cast includes Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough, Ziah Colon, Dennis Quaid, Miles Teller and Andie MacDowell.

Who doesn’t have fond memories of 1984′s “Footloose” starring Kevin Bacon? If just for the really, really awful fidgeting that passed for “dancing” in that movie? Though I gotta admit, Kevin Bacon throwing himself around a deserted factory was kinda awesome. And then there’s Chris Penn’s cowboy hick learning to dance. That’s beyond words awesome, too. As far as I know, the remake by Craig Brewer follows the original pretty closely, with a city kid name Ren McCormack (Kenny Wormald) moving to a small town where rock ‘n’ roll and dancing have been banned. “Dancing with the Stars’” Julianne Hough plays Ariel Moore, the local girl who tempts our transplanted city boy. Dennis Quaid plays her fire and brimstone dad. Co-starring Ziah Colon, Ray McKinnon, Miles Teller, Ser’Darius William Blain, Patrick John Flueger, and Andie MacDowell. Dancing up a storm October 14, 2011.

The Factory
Opens: 2011
Cast: John Cusack, Jennifer Carpenter, Ksenia Solo, Mae Whitman, Sonya Walger
Director: Morgan O'Neill
Summary: An obsessed cop is on the trail of a serial killer prowling the streets of Buffalo, New York. When his teenage daughter disappears, he drops any pretension and professional restraint he might have to get the killer.
Analysis: Shot almost three years ago now, Dark Castle had originally planned to release this thriller back in late 2009. However for reasons unspecified, it has been sitting on a shelf for some time and keeps getting delayed. In cases like these, the most obvious reason is usually the correct one - it stinks (eg. "Case 39"). The company certainly has had its fair share of box-office duds lately including "Whiteout," "Ninja Assassin," "The Losers," "Orphan" and "Splice".
Yet Cusack generally has good taste in projects, his last venture into horror was the surprisingly effective Stephen King...
