At not even a week old, Pokémon Sword and Shield are already smashing records around the world.
As reported yesterday by Famitsu, the pair have already proven to be a hit with fans in its native Japan and are now officially the fastest-selling Switch games ever. Fantastic news for Nintendo and Game Freak, then, but how have the Generation 8 games fared in overseas markets? Thanks to a statement provided to Business Wire by Nintendo of America’s Nick Chavez, we now have the answer and yes, the results are exactly what one would expect of a franchise with the global popularity of Pokémon.
Sword and Shield pushed an eye-watering 6 million copies over the course of its opening weekend, the publisher has confirmed. The impressive figure includes – unlike the physical-only sales recorded in Japan – both retail and digital copies sold of both tiles combined, with the Us accounting for a whopping...

“Guess what’s back, back, back, back again….. Bangs are back, back, back tell your friends,” Demi Lovato announced on her Twitter last night, along with the above pic of her blonder-than-ever tresses with gorgeous long bangs. As much as we admire Demi’s flawless forehead (seriously, we covet this girl’s skin!), the new ‘do brings out her eyes perfectly. And this pic reminded us of another brunette-turned-blond beauty who recently showed off her fringe, Paris Jackson. The gorgeous 14-year-old posted Instagram pics of herself getting a cut and color just last month at the Nick Chavez Salon. Again, the bangs accentuate Paris’ stunning eyes.
Now, we’re not saying this is a ‘do for everyone — and we’d like to make a public service announcement to remind the world what a pain in the ass it is to grow your bangs out when you want to switch back...

It's no surprise that summer tends to bring out the hottest guys in New York. And as the dog days of summer start to wane on the streets of the Big Apple, it's time to once again turn our attention to where the hottest of the hot like to spend their time: the New York stage.
Sure, movies and television have their share of rippling abs, but glimpsing a hottie on the screen is nothing compared to the live, in-the-flesh experience. So without further ado, we present the Hottest Guys of New York Theater!
Cesar Abreu
Ricky Martin isn't the only sexy stud to come to us via the pop group Menudo - we can thank our lucky stars we also get the stunning, studly Cesar Abreu. Currently dancing for the Metropolitan Opera, Cesar has also, unsurprisingly, been featured many times in the annual stripfest Broadway Bares.

A little over two years ago, AfterElton.com brought readers a list of the 37 Hottest Guys in Theater, and since then, the New York Stage has only become increasingly sexified. The lines between Broadway and Hollywood continue to blur, and as young men come to recognition in NYC, they're often quickly whisked away to Tinseltown to showcase not only their amazing talent, but often they're breathtaking good looks.
While it's tempting to include every Hollywood hottie who graces the stage on this list (a certain Lee Pace and Luke Macfarlane spring to mind), the point here is to honor the men who are mostly known for rockin' the live stages here in New York.
And so, without further ado, we present, in alphabetical order, the list (39!) of this year's hottest guys in theater!

Neil Patrick Harris holding his Emmys
Given all of the outrageous and inaccurate things Newsweek "journalist" Ramin Setoodeh has said in the past, it's no surprise that his latest attempt to play the victim ("the gay media elite is mean to me!") over on The Daily Beast is as poorly written and reasoned as his usual work. But this time it also includes a mention of us that completely misrepresents the article it references. (We also write about the rest of Setoodeh's bait-and-switch/I'm a victim! argument.)
In an attempt to obfuscate and distract his past observations about gay actors being unable to play straight roles, Setoodeh changes the subject to the fact that according to him the Hollywood powers that be don't seem willing to cast gay actors in gay parts. To support his claim, he references our article 2010: The Year Gay TV Grew Up and writes "The blog AfterElton.

Godzilla vs. Mothra, Krystle vs. Alexis, Tiffany vs. Debbie Gibson, Sarah Palin vs. Sanity. Some of the greatest rivalries in history, and now we can add one more.
The last year saw two wildly popular gay couples bring much-needed flavor to daytime, and even though Tptb on both shows ended up fumbling their stories, One Life to Live's Kish (Kyle and Oliver) and As The World Turns' LuRe (Luke and Reid) left an indelible impression on our lives.
But now that it's all over and the dust has cleared, which couple came out on top?
We studied many aspects of both couples, consulted with relationship experts, asked Dr. Phil his opinion (and laughed a lot) and finally said "to hell with that" and came up with some fun comparisons instead.
You're probably wondering why Nuke (Noah and Luke) isn't included. Unfortunately we had to disqualify them due to...

Looking to change up his look a bit, Cam Gigandet was spotted on his way to Nick Chavez Salon in Beverly Hills yesterday (March 2).
Joined by his girlfriend Dominique Geisendorff and their daughter Everleigh Ray, the “Twilight” stud looked hunky with his new shorter ‘do as he emerged.
Earlier in the day, Cam & Co. dropped by the Toast Bakery and Café for some lunch as they strolled around West Hollywood.
On the career front, Mr. Gigandet is close to wrapping up his work on “Burlesque,” set to hit theaters this Thanksgiving.

What?! It’s not enough that we spent the whole year providing you with insightful news and analysis on gay and bisexual entertainment – now we have to pick which 2009 projects we think best represented gay and bisexual men?!
Sorry, we’re getting a little Grinch-y around here come year-end.
But the fact is, gay and bisexual entertainment-related news is inexorably linked with the issue of visibility. If you know anything at all about the history of such entertainment, you know that it’s almost always been “controversial.” As passionate as the creators of these projects have always been, there’s been a similarly strong counter-pressure to keep these themes hidden or under wraps.
As a result, for a website like ours, covering the “news” of these projects inevitably becomes a question of championing the ones of quality (and giving the hook to those who don’t measure up, or that...

Last week was a big one for Oliver and Kyle of One Life To Live. They finally made it to the bedroom (candlelit, natch) and enjoyed some seriously romantic moments before getting interrupted by a gay bashing. No, not by Oltl sponsors – in this case coitus was interruptus by a thrashing inflicted on fellow Gay of the Week nominee Nick Chavez.
Well, you voted and it seems poor Nick took a beating twice: First by a gay-hating former Blues Clues host, and again in this poll. Kish also easily bested brothers Sam & Dan from The Amazing Race and only really had competition from Adam Lambert.
Check back on Friday's blog when four new contenders vie for the crown!

Every week we pick the gays who we think have made the biggest splash in television (or pop culture in general) and leave it to you, the keepers of the flame, to decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week.
Last week's results had soap opera character Oliver Fish beating out the real live Brendan Burke for the crown. Many, many people were frustrated by that result and felt it was unfair (and perhaps shallow) to pit frothy popular fictional characters against real world heroes. Well, we definitely heard you and are trying something a little different moving forward.
As you may have noticed, the Best Gay Week Ever column now contains a Hero of the Week poll, which allows us to recognize those real world individuals with more substantial contributions to the world at large. Moving forward, that's where we'll tip our hat to the Brendan Burkes, the Rachel Maddows,...

And if you think Oakdale’s cutest gay teens have had some strange storylines before … this one takes the cake. Plus, Fer faces losing his boyfriend when David might have to move away in Física o’ Química, Simon ‘Doctors’ a boy being bullied and helps to console a gay man who might lose custody of his adopted daughter. And Riley looks to be de-gayed on Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Knock, Knock. Who's There? The Closet. you're Still Around? You Better Believe It!
There's been a great deal of discussion on the site over the past couple of weeks about gay celebrities, the closet and what constitutes being "out." And even though we've discussed the issue numerous times before, it seems like it is once again time to revisit the topic. And it's a subject that is as tricky as ever and that can have real consequences for the celebrities involved.
Perez kicked the latest round of debate off when he posted an item about White Collar's Matthew Bomer. Without citing a source or saying how he knew, Perez simply claimed Matt was an out gay man. If true, we were certainly interested in writing about Matt and his show, but as we aren't a gossip site, I wasn't going to simply repeat Perez's claims — for lots of reasons.

When you look at the history of gay or bisexual people of color on soap operas, it’s a pretty monochromatic picture. With the exception of Nick Chavez, a part Cherokee, part Mexican-American gay character on ABC's One Life to Live, the closeted bisexual Chad Harris on the now canceled Passions, and Ravi Roy, a bisexual southeast Asian character on Britain’s Channel 4 drama Hollyoaks, most previous gay or bisexual male soap characters have been white.
Nick Chavez, Chad Harris, Ravi Roy
But as regular readers of AfterElton.com's Gays of Our Lives column well know, EastEnders, a long-running soap on Britain’s BBC One (and one of the U.K.'s highest-rated programs), recently added some much needed color to the picture. It's something that anyone interested in gay male visibility — soap opera fan or not — will find interesting.

Adam Lambert (Sort Of) Kissed A Girl ... And No One Could Stop Talking About It
The big gay news of the week is that one big gay icon did something not so gay and set the gay blogosphere abuzz. That's right, Adam Lambert posed for some racy pictures with a nekkid girl and the reaction of our readers was all over the place as demonstrated by the nearly 70 comments folks posted. As for the poll results — it was a dead heat with 41% of folks loving the pics and 41% saying "Ew" and believing that someone was trying to give Adam a "hetero" make-over. I'll say one thing; you folks had a ton of passionate, mostly articulate things to say about the topic.
