Alex Garland may have said that he’s not planning to direct again in the foreseeable future, but he is currently directing another film while his movie Civil War heads out into the world and he works on the scripts for the upcoming 28 Years Later trilogy (a follow-up to his Danny Boyle collaboration 28 Days Later). Garland’s new directorial effort is called Warfare, and he’s co-directing it with Ray Mendoza, who served as the military supervisor for Civil War. Garland and Mendoza also wrote the screenplay together. As Warfare moves forward, Deadline has just revealed the names of several cast members: Noah Centineo (The Recruit), Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark), Taylor John Smith (Where the Crawdads Sing), Adain Bradley (Wrong Turn), Henrique Zaga (The Stand), and Evan Holtzman (Hidden Figures).

Mattel’s live-action “Master of the Universe” film, based on the He-Man toy, has been in development hell for years, changing studios three times in five years. Sony had distribution rights for years, with Noah Centineo in the lead. Then it was Netflix with Kyle Allen (Spielberg’s “West Side Story”) in the lead role, and that went nowhere.

A "Suits" comeback wasn't on anyone's 2023 Bingo card, yet it was a huge year for the USA Network lawyer series. When the show dropped on Netflix last June, it became one of the streamers' biggest hits, reportedly accruing 3 billion minutes watched every week for much of the summer. The series' creator, Aaron Korsh, suspected its resurgence had something to do with the show's relatability and "inherent optimism," as he told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2023. But the show's cast could have also had something to do with it: future ex-royal Meghan Markle starred in the legal procedural for its first seven seasons alongside leading men Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht.
When "Suits" started, USA Network seemed to have already established a pretty standard formula for success: cast hot people, write fast-paced scripts, and keep storylines adventurous. It worked for shows like "Burn Notice" and "Psych," and given the longevity of "Suits,...

Kristen Stewart has become one of our most celebrated actors. It's an admittedly surprising outcome, given that her big break came in the YA blockbuster "Twilight." Ever since that saga ended though, Stewart has been very picky about the blockbuster films she's taken part in. In 2019, she decided to have a bite at that apple once more with "Charlie's Angels." The movie didn't perform particularly well at the time -- and now, Stewart has revealed that she did not enjoy making the reboot either.
Variety recently sat down with Stewart in honor of her upcoming film "Love Lies Bleeding," which made /Film's most anticipated movies of 2024. During the sit-down, Steward was fed lines from her career and at one point one from "Charlie's Angels" came up in the form of, "Did you know that it takes men an additional seven seconds to perceive a woman as a threat compared to a man?...

Kristen Stewart isn’t mincing words when it comes to her thoughts on 2019’s “Charlie’s Angels,” written and directed by Elizabeth Banks. The “Chronology of Water” director and “Love Lies Bleeding” actress revealed, while playing Variety‘s game of “Know Your Lines” during a recent interview, that she “hated” making the 2019 franchise action-comedy reboot.
The line in question was, “Did you know that it takes men an additional seven seconds to perceive a woman as a threat compared to a man?” Stewart responded, “This was a mouthful at the time. I remember saying that. That was from a little film called ‘Charlie’s Angels.’ We wanted a strong opener, you know? We wanted to really like broadcast what the movie was about. It was a good idea at the time.”
She continued, “I hated making that movie. I don’t know what else to say to you.”

DC Entertainment has some of the most iconic superheroes in modern fiction, including Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. These characters have been adapted and reimagined for the silver screen and small screen for decades, often boasting some of Hollywood's biggest names in front of and behind the camera. These sentiments are often attached to specific scenes, striking a negative chord for the actor involved for a myriad of reasons.

Netflix released a huge amount of streaming data Tuesday — viewing totals for more than 18,000 movies and seasons of TV for the first half of 2023.
Taken as a whole, it’s almost an overwhelming amount of information that speaks to Netflix’s ability to engage its huge subscriber base (just under 239 million for the end of the period covered in the data dump) — and maybe not a ton more? The stats presented are for total hours viewed, which is how Netflix measures engagement across its portfolio — but it’s also not the metric the streamer uses to order its weekly top 10 lists. For those, it uses the “view” formula of total watch time divided by running time, which somewhat levels the playing field for films and series with shorter run times. (And there are, of course, economic factors and other metrics that influence decision-making that the company will continue to keep in house.

Aubrey Plaza and Noah Centineo were seen mingling during a night out at a movie theater this week.
The 39-year-old The White Lotus actress and the 27-year-old To All the Boys actor were spotted chatting in the lobby of a local cinema on Thursday night (September 28) in Los Angeles.
Noah was joined by his friend Brandon Caruso, who is actually dating his sister Taylor. They have been together since 2015!
It’s unclear if Aubrey and Noah are friends from the past, if they’re going to work together sometime soon, or if they simply ran into each other at the theater. We’d love to see them in a movie together though!
Aubrey recently opened up about the movie role that she lost out on and how it left her “hurt.”
For those that don’t know, Aubrey has been married to writer and director Jeff Baena since 2021.

What if Nicolas Cage was Freddy Krueger, minus the fondness for murdering people, the burn-induced scarring, and the razor-bladed glove? Cage's character, the unsuspecting middle-aged professor Paul Matthews, even shares Freddy's predilection for cozy knitted sweaters in "Dream Scenario," the latest eccentric exercise in metamodern storytelling from contemporary indie powerhouse A24.
Much like Paul becomes an overnight celebrity when he inexplicably begins popping up in people's dreams around the world, "Dream Scenario" has suddenly found itself in the spotlight following its positive reception on the film festival circuit. With Cage essentially portraying two characters in the film (the real Paul and the one who keeps intruding into people's nighttime fantasies), his performances in "Dream Scenario" are already being compared to his acclaimed work playing radically different twins in director Spike Jonze and writer Charlie Kaufman's surreal dramedy "Adaptation." In his own review for /Film, Matt Donato declared the...

“The Recruit” producer P3 Media has scored a seven-figure investment from Ready Entertainment, a company led by Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter, Bernice A. King, and Ashley Bell.
Founded by journalist Adam Ciralsky (the inspiration for Netflix’s hit Noah Centineo-led spy thriller “The Recruit”), P3 is expanding its lineup with upcoming feature doc “The Return.” That title, produced alongside Ciralsky’s P3 partner Gene Klein, centers on the White House’s efforts to free Americans held hostage abroad. “With unprecedented access, the film chronicles high stakes and unconventional efforts to free Eyvin Hernandez, an L.A. County public defender who has been held in Venezuela since March 2022,” per P3.
“This is an extraordinary film about a remarkable individual who has been held in a foreign prison for the crime of being an American,” said King, who along with Bell will join Ciralsky and Klein as an executive producer on the film.

Actor Noah Centineo touched down at the Toronto International Film Festival this weekend to rally support for Saeed Roustaee, an Iranian filmmaker sentenced to prison by his government over the latter’s film “Leila’s Brothers.”
Over Friday cocktails at festival headquarters, the TIFF Bell Lightbox, the “Black Adam” star appealed to top representatives from film festivals around the world on behalf of Roustaee, who was sentenced to six months in prison after screening his feature at the Cannes Film Festival without authorization from Iran’s culture ministry. Furthermore, he would not amend the film after the ministry requested corrections. He was formally charged with “anti-regime propaganda activity” and will be banned from directing for five years.

Nicolas Cage, after more than 100 credits, finally has his dream role, at least as comedy fans are concerned. He knocks it out of the park as a schlubby, balding college professor who suddenly starts appearing in people’s dreams, first his daughter’s, then an old girlfriend’s, and soon millions of people around the globe are seeing this ordinary looking, very plain guy walking through their slumber in rather non-descript ways no matter what the situation. He becomes a phenomenon, until it reverses and the whole thing turns into a literal nightmare.

While viewers impatiently wait for new weekly episodes of “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” Jenny Han has another show and a set of movies available to stream. “Xo, Kitty” and the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” films contain similar themes of teenage love and coming of age. All three heroines in Han’s different works come from her books — “The Summer I Turned Pretty” trilogy or the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” trilogy.

Although “Xo, Kitty” doesn’t include cameos from Lana Condor’s Lara Jean or Janel Parrish’s Margot as Kitty’s (Anna Cathcart) older sisters, the show still explores sibling relationships.
Kitty’s chemistry teacher Alex Finnerty (Peter Thurnwald) is Korean, but he was adopted by Australians. Her sisterly instincts kick in when she finds a hospital bracelet from a birth center with her mother’s name on it. She tracks down the baby’s records and, upon learning it was adopted by Australians, immediately assumes it’s Alex.
“We see her get very passionate about it and jump to conclusions just because she wants it to be real and she wants her theories to be accurate,” Anna Cathcart told TheWrap. “It brings out a different side of her, and [Alex] acts like a big brother — even if we find out he’s not really her brother, he still is that...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers for “Xo, Kitty,” now streaming on Netflix.
Jenny Han’s 2014 novel “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” first introduces readers to Kitty Song Covey as the mischievous younger sister of main protagonist Lara Jean. Kitty, a precocious pre-teen, harbors a penchant for instigating drama — an affinity that sets off the chain of events leading to the fake-but-eventually-real relationship between her sister and love interest Peter Kavinsky. Memorialized by Anna Cathcart in the 2018 film version of the book — which spawned two sequels and launched the careers of Lana Condor and Noah Centineo, who played the leads — Kitty often serves as the comic relief, offsetting Lara Jean’s careful romantic idealism. But in spinoff series “Xo, Kitty,” which premiered on the streaming service on Thursday, the little sister becomes the star, and Cathcart steps into the spotlight.
