Christina Bowden (Lexi Johnson) is an elementary school teacher with aspirations to adopt. The paperwork is filed, the young teen (Willow McCarthy’s Lisa) targeted is on-board, and it seems the last remnants of Christina’s volatile past have been repurposed for good. Kidnapped and raised in a shack by her captor (Kaye Tuckerman’s Elizabeth Caulfield), fate somehow allowed her the second chance her four “sisters” tragically never received. She wants to therefore be a lightning rod for change in the community by using that experience from two decades ago to better understand and care for a new generation struggling to deal with similar psychological trauma. Being the lone survivor of a brutal ordeal gives her insight many would-be suburban parents can’t even fathom. And she’s ready to officially move forward.
Writer-director Michael Morrissey has other ideas, though. Rather than give Christina her happy ending, he concocts...

"I don't think you understand what happened here...?" Quiver Distribution has unveiled an official trailer for The Girl Who Got Away, a new serial killer horror-thriller from filmmaker Michael Morrissey (of Boy Wonder). Set in 2018, twenty years after a serial killer was caught and imprisoned, the story is about the "one who got away" now all grown up. When the killer escapes from prison, she goes after the final victim. Only one, Christina Bowden, managed to get away with her life, the other four were found buried... Caulfield escapes from prison and launches a deadly pursuit to finish what she began. Christina's seemingly perfect life comes crashing down around her as the secrets of her past come back to haunt her. The film stars Lexi Johnson, Chukwudi Iwuji, Kaye Tuckerman, Willow McCarthy, Ned Van Zandt, Audrey Grace Marshall, and Geoffrey Cantor. This does look extra creepy, much more horrifying than it seems at first.

James Gunn’s Suicide Squad spinoff HBO Max series Peacemaker has added Chukwudi Iwuji, as Clemson Murn in a series regular role, and three recurring guest stars, those being Lochlyn Munro as Larry Fitzgibbon, Annie Chang as Detective Sophie Song and Christopher Heyerdahl as Captain Locke.
Peacemaker will explore the origins of John Cena’s character from the upcoming Aug. 6, 2021 Warner Bros. release, which is also being planned to hit HBO Max at the same time. Peacemaker is a guy who believes in peace at any cost — no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.

A while ago I came across the poster for a movie called Boy Wonder, and was instantly curious about both the title and the image of the main character all brooding and face-painted. Very super-heroish right? So I watched the movie and was very impressed indeed, although it was nothing like I was expecting at all. Boy Wonder is a dark tale of revenge and obsession with a sting in the tail. It features top notch performances from a relatively unknown cast, as well as a very assured directorial debut from Michael Morrissey, who also wrote the script. The movie has been out a while, but Morrissey has been teasing a possible sequel (more on that at a later date) so we've decided to put three copies up for grabs on DVD. Now is your last chance to enter. The drawing will end tomorrow, 11th January. Three Ways To Win...

Here we're going to tell you ten films that definitely deserve your attention, even if you don't think so. Some of these you may have never heard of, some may have piqued your interest but you just never gotten around to seeing them. 10. Boy Wonder "Comic book fans may be fooled into thinking this film is somewhat related to Batman's longtime sidekick due to it's title, but fortunately the similarities end there. A dark and gritty journey into the tortured psyche of a young man who fails to peacefully cope with his mother's murder and father's brutality, Boy Wonder succeeds in humanizing an anti-hero in ways no other big budget film did this year. It is written and directed by freshman filmmaker Michael Morrissey, who believed in the quality of the final product so much that he wouldn'...

Director/writer: Michael Morrissey.
Cast: James Russo, Tracy Middendorf, Caleb Steinmeyer and Zulay Henao.
Boy Wonder is an award winning film from first time director Michael Morrissey. The film deals with revenge and one monstrous Oedipus complex experienced by the protagonist, Sean. A revenge thriller at its heart, Boy Wonder is a violent film with a complex psychology. Flying by at a quick clip this film is over quickly and very evocative.
The protagonist is Sean a young high school student. He suffers from flashbacks after witnessing his mother's murder ten years previous. Now, he seeks her killer at the local New York police department where he scans pages of mugshots. Hounded by Det. Ames (Zulay Henao) to let her go, Sean (Caleb Steinmeyer) takes to the streets to find a justice outside of "due process." Meanwhile, his father may or may not have been complicit in Mary's (Tracy Middendorf) murder.

My second day at Nycc started off with a 25-minute wait on a line that wrapped almost entirely around the Javits Center. I later found out there was a separate press / VIP entrance I could have used but the volunteer I asked apparently did not know about it either. The line wasn’t too bad though considering how many people in awesome costumes I got to see while I waited.
Once inside the convention, I saw the reason for the massive lines. The place was packed. Some aisles on the show floor were impossible to navigate and even the press rooms were full. I knew Saturday would be the biggest day at the con but I just was not prepared. The massive amount of foot traffic made taking decent pictures of people in costumes much more difficult but I still managed some decent shots.

Superhero films are a dime a dozen this year. We have our popcorn fare with Thor, Captain America, X-men: First Class, the self-reflexive vigilante in Super, and the lady killers in Sucker Punch, just to name a few. When considering what makes or breaks a superhero, the formula is blurred at this point. Even though the genre is almost completely saturated with terrible, there are some untapped opportunities. Most notably, Christopher Nolan’s Batman series opened the door to innovative superhero storytelling, and what has followed suit in the past three years later only hints at the possibility of awesome.

As a kid who grew up reading comic books, I dreamt of one day being a superhero with the abnormal abilities to be faster than a speeding bullet and catch thieves just like flies. That's just what Sean Donovan sets out to do...only Sean doesn't have superpowers or a brightly colored disguise or even a mighty moniker. All he shares with caped crusaders and spandex-clad superheroes is the unfailing determination to see evil thwarted in his city. The driving factor at the core of every great masked avenger. Their origin story, if you will.

Revenge films are a dime a dozen. Some are good, some are great but few have the raw energy of Michael Morrissey’s fantastic directorial debut Boy Wonder. Part of the appeal of Morrissey’s film is the story itself which pits a 19 year old as a vigilante who has been working on honing his hunting skills from an early age. The other is the performance from relative new comer Caleb Steinmeyer as Sean, the young man at the centre of Morrissey’s tale.
At the tender age of 9, Sean saw his mother brutally killed in a car jacking gone wrong and every day since, he has spent hours at the police station, looking through mug shots in search of the man who killed her. Over the years, Sean has manicured the perfect exterior: a quiet teen,...

Producer Michael Morrissey is ready to make the jump from producing to directing and if the trailer for his first feature is any indication, he’s about to arrive with a bang.
Taglined “Beware the Hero,” Boy Wonder isn’t your caped crusader hero film. Heck, it doesn’t even truly follow the recent batch of awkward super hero’s we’ve been seeing of late (Kick-Ass (review) and Defendor (review) come to mind) as he has no bright costume but Sean Donovan is a hero none the less.
After witnessing the brutal killing of his mother, Sean grows up obsessed with finding her killer. A good student by day and vigilante hunter of bad guys by night, the boundaries of right and wrong begin to blur and his dual lives begin to collide.
The trailer is pretty amazing, cutting between Sean’s past and his present with great speed...

Comic book and genre-film fans everywhere are likely to be confused by the title of writer-director Michael Morrissey's latest film, Boy Wonder — especially with a plot that sounds vaguely like the origin of Batman's protégé: A young man becomes a vigilante to seek revenge on the man responsible for murdering his mother.
Plot similarities aside, Boy Wonder is more a gritty detective story than a flick for the spandex set. Morriessey's movie follows a homicide detective's investigation into killings in Brooklyn and his eventual involvement in the vigilante's quest for revenge.
The Hollywood Reporter recently revealed key cast members, including Caleb Steinmeyer as the vigilante, Zulay Henao as the detective, James Russo as a hitman, and Bill Sage and Tracy Middendorf as the young man's parents. Boy Wonder is being produced by Under Construction for Diy Network. Shooting begins June 15.
