The No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off of a major top-10 victory over Penn State last weekend, and will look to avoid a letdown as they take on a familiar face in Camp Randall Stadium as for Buckeye player and coach Luke Fickell’s Wisconsin Badgers will welcome Osu to Madison for a primetime showdown. Wisconsin currently holds a half-game lead in the Big Ten West, so they need to pull off the upset to stay ahead of the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Buckeyes are tied with archrival Michigan in the East, with a season-finale showdown looking likely for the conference crown and a College Football Playoff berth.

"Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose." This saying is repeated often throughout Friday Night Lights, NBC’s critically lauded 2006-2011 high school football drama. It's not only a mantra of the American football team around which the show revolves, but also provides a nice summation of the drama’s themes and the way in which it was made. Sure, the creators and characters faced their fair share of obstacles along the way, but the end result justified the struggles and hard work.
Despite being widely loved by critics, Friday Night Lights suffered with poor ratings and as a result faced cancellation on a number of occasions, notably at the end of the second series (the show’s weakest by some distance, no doubt thanks in...

As is the case with almost any defunct television series these days, there is a sizable percentage of Friday Night Lights fans who wish to see the NBC series revisited as a film. Creator Peter Berg and showrunner Jason Katims have fueled the rumor with mentions of an in-progress script, a story inspired by the 2009 scandal surrounding football coach Mike Leach and an eager participant in star Connie Britton. The only missing piece (aside from financing) is star Kyle Chandler.

Ever since "Friday Night Lights" left the air there has been talk of a movie spin-off and now it seems to be a sure thing as Peter Berg was doing press rounds for his new film Battleship and during an interview with Details magazine from the helmer's office in walked "Friday Night Lights" star Connie Britton where she was asked what she thought about a Friday Night Lights movie. Here's what she had to say: Connie Britton: So, I had a meeting at Jason Katims' [Emmy winning writer of "Friday Night Lights"] office. And we were talking about something else and I said, "Forget about all that. Is this movie going to happen?" I was sitting on his couch, and he's like, "Look behind you." And I look behind me and it's a wall with a big, huge corkboard on it with all these 3x5 cards. That's what these writers do, they do the whole story on 3x5 cards.

Peter Berg's 2004 Texas football film "Friday Night Lights" scored good notices upon its release, but it has been the five season-long TV series incarnation that has really scored both critical acclaim and cult following.
Since it wrapped last year, fans have been keen to see the small screen version's cast get their time on the big screen, especially Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton's husband-and-wife characters. Those involved seem to all be keen to do it, but little progress seems to have been made.
Now, out doing "Battleship" promotion, Peter Berg did an interview for Details Magazine (via Zap2It) during which Britton stopped by and they both talked about a Fnl movie.
Britton says she'd just come from a meeting at the office of the show's former executive producer Jason Katims, and "we were talking about something else and I said, 'Forget about all that. Is this movie going to happen?...

Clear eyes, full hearts, can't wait for this freaking movie.
"Friday Night Lights" fans have been hearing buzz about a potential film based on the TV show (which was based on a film which was based on a book) since last summer, and it finally sounds like things are coming together. When executive producer Peter Berg was interviewed for Details Magazine, star Connie Britton stopped by for a chat about the upcoming movie.
"I had a meeting at Jason Katims' office," she reveals. "And we were talking about something else and I said, 'Forget about all that. Is this movie going to happen?' Last summer fans of Texas football, and more specifically, the series "Friday Night Lights," got some hope that there was more to come. Peter Berg revealed that he wanted to get a feature film off the ground centered on Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton picking up where the final episode of the show left off, and that work was happening to start getting it rolling. And then, there was pretty much radio silence on it, but now it seems it's becoming more of a reality.
Details recently chatted with both Berg and Britton, and though they remained cagey at first, the director laid it on the line: "We're doing the movie." And moreover, it seems a script and story is already being laid out as Britton recounts: "So, I had a meeting at [executive producer/writer] Jason Katims' office. And we were talking about something else and I said, 'Forget about all that.

Things have been a little quiet on the Friday Night Lights film front for a while -- last we heard, it was in the works but nothing could be decided until a script was locked. And while that remains true, a new interview with Battleship director (and Fnl producer) Peter Berg shed a little more light on the project's cinematic status.

Another day, another update about the seemingly pie-in-the-sky potential of the "Friday Night Lights" movie. Here's the thing, everyone keeps saying they're on board if the right idea comes along, so what's the holdup?
"It’s on [showrunner] Jason Katims," director Peter Berg told MTV News during the press day for his upcoming blockbuster "Battleship." "If you’re a fan of 'Friday Night Lights,' write Jason Katims an email at 'Parenthood.' Be like, ‘Yo Jason, we love “Parenthood,” but let’s get the “Friday Night Lights” script done.'"
Berg insisted that everyone really is interested, but they need Katims to finish the script so they can get the production ball rolling.
"Yeah, it’s on him. He’s a genius. Jason Katims is the force behind [it], I kept 'Friday Night Lights' up and running, Jason Katims carried that show," Berg said. "He’s the man.

You shouldn't worry about getting your hopes up for a movie based on the "Friday Night Lights" TV series. It may be more likely than you think.
MTV News recently caught up with Connie Britton, one of the stars, and she said that director Peter Berg isn’t just shooting his mouth off when he talks about plans for an "Fnl" movie. In fact, when she last spoke to him, she learned that he 100 percent plans on making the film come together.
"I actually just saw Pete this week and he is full-on serious about it," Britton said. "I love the idea. I think it's a great idea and I love those characters and listen, I think if they put a movie together, they're going to do it right. I really have faith in that."
Taylor Kitsch had similar thoughts when he recently spoke to MTV News. "First of all,...

It’s the movie that became a hit TV show that became a movie, but the return of Friday Night Lights to theaters now hinges on getting everyone together at the same time.
I wasn’t overly thrilled when news originally came out that Friday Night Lights was going to be turned into a TV show because I didn’t see the transition going well. However, the show became a huge feather in the cap for NBC and allowed us to visit some truly awesome talent on a weekly basis. Now, Friday Night Lights might be heading back to theaters… if that previously mentioned talent can find time in their schedules.

While we remain conflicted about the idea of a "Friday Night Lights" movie (well, a second one) that would pick up after the utterly flawless TV series finale, we are a little tickled at the plot details creator Peter Berg spilled to MTV News recently.
"Jason Katims, who was our super talented showrunner, is about done with the script. You never know," he says.
The only reason we're still tentatively on board: the project is coming from Berg and Katims, and they only want to do it if the original TV cast is available. Considering what fondness the actors seem to share for the show (something we have in common), it seems likely that they'd want to return.
