Country-music management team Chris Kappy and Lynn Oliver-Cline are showing the Nashville establishment how to build an old-fashioned country-music career in a 21st-century way. With Luke Combs, they turned their focus away from the typical country-album-release models and radio promo cycles and toward social media and streaming. (Before Combs had a record deal, his song “Hurricane” accrued a million streams.) While this kind of strategy is common in pop, it’s groundbreaking in country, where physical product plays an outsize role and things have been done the same way for decades.

It's been more than a decade since the 1990s ended, yet the Internet can't seem to go a day without a reminder of the neon slap bracelets that may have been banned from your school.

It’s already been a wildly successful year for Brooklyn’s Swear and Shake. In February, they set sail aboard Rock Boat Xiii with the likes of Sister Hazel and Brandi Carlile, and more recently the band played to a rain-soaked crowed at the inaugural Shaky Knees Festival. However, the year began with the announcement that the band’s drummer Thomas Elefante would be leaving Swear and Shake. “Brother” is the last song the band tracked with Elefante. “I couldn’t ask for a more fitting way to represent all of the remarkable musical ideas he’s brought to my music over the twelve years...

Hey guys, so today is my first time writing as the new“Music Review Guy” for AfterElton.com. For those who don’t know who I am, you may havecaught an episode or two from my time on this little known show on MTV calledThe Real World: Denver.
But that’s not why I’m here! The reason I’m here today isbecause of my long-standing, (some might say obsessive-compulsive) passion for findingnew and great music and sharing it with my friends.
My uncle is the manager for Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith and another uncle is a song writer for artists like Wynona Judd and SixpenceNone the Richer. Pretty much everyone in my family can play an instrument andI’ve put my musical passion into discovering and sharing amazing artists withthose I love.
So here I am today to begin a journey with you guys. I hopeyou enjoy...
