Jeff Probst is working hard on the lineup for Survivor 50. The season will air around Spring 2026, and it will be the first returning players show since Season 40 (Winners At War). This cast has a chance to have a ton of great players from the past, and Jeff has an idea for who he doesn’t want.
Here is what Jeff had to say about the upcoming all-star season of the hit reality TV show.

This is the 18th in a series of interviews with Survivor Samoa cast members. Ben Browning and I talked for just over 10 minutes, by far my shortest interview this season. That was because he answered in short, declarative sentences and never went into much detail. That and his general attitude didn't leave me with a great impression of him, but the other two contestants who were somewhat like this, Jt and Matty, surprised me... keep reading » » read the full story and comment, or find the latest news about Survivor Samoa

We lost a large number of TV show veterans in January 2009 but, thankfully, far fewer left us in February.
The talented TV-related folks that left us in February include James Whitmore, One Life to Live's Phil Carey (All in the Family, Little House on the Prairie, The Bionic Woman, and Gunsmoke), Blossom Dearie (The Today Show and Schoolhouse Rock!), and Ed Cotter (Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Dear John, and Family Matters).
James Whitmore, 87, died on February 6th at his Malibu, CA home. The actor was diagnosed with lung cancer in November 2008. Whitmore had a long list of movie and Broadway credits but also guested on TV shows like The Practice, The White Shadow, Gunsmoke, The Big Valley, and most recently, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He was married several times, including to Audra Lindley (Three's Company). Whitmore was also the grandfather of recent Survivor contestant, Matty Whitmore.

The tribal council has spoken! CBS' "Survivor" started with 20 contestants -- but now only one "Survivor" reigns. 58-year-old ethics teacher Bob Crowley won it all on live television tonight! The new millionaire is the oldest winner in "Survivor" history. "I just tried to be necessary and friendly," Bob said of his strategy. "My plan was to fly under the radar as long as I could." Bob, Ken Hoang, Jessica "Sugar" Kiper, Susie Smith and Matty Whitmore were the five contestants who remained on the season finale. After Ken was voted off in the first challenge, hairdresser Susie won the House of Cards challenge keeping her in the top 3. "That's what happens when you underestimate someone," contestant Sugar says about Susie's unbelievable win. Matty and Bob were forced into a fire making challenge after the votes showed a tie regarding which one of them should go home. Bob won the...

Crazy? Or bored? Last night brought us yet another delicious blindside. Sadly, it was Crystal, who I thoroughly enjoyed watching all season. This woman won a gold medal in the Olympics just four years ago and is 6’3”. I assumed she would dominate both men and women in athletic competitions, but she was actually one of the worst challenge performers in the entire season and possibly the series. Last night she couldn’t even make a basket when she dunked it! She got lost on the obstacle course! It was incredible. And despite this, she had the game all sewn up—until she went off on Matty. Sugar saw that as kicking him when he was almost definitely the next to be voted out and decided that she was sick of playing the game with “the bad guys” (Ken and Crystal) and was going to do whatever she could to save...

Fake Idols aside (or not), the remaining members of the merged tribe—Nobag, it's called—carried on Thursday knowing that nobody, especially Matty Whitmore, was safe heading into Survivor: Gabon's final stretch. Five castaways remain. Here's why they're still standing: Matty confronts Kenny Huang about throwing him under the bus at Tribal Council. "Kenny's playing a game. He's a mastermind, and I'm onto him," Matty says…four episodes too late. Bob Crowley feels so bad about lying to Kenny about having an extra Immunity Idol, he offers to hand his immunity over to Kenny if he should be so lucky to win it. Reward Challenge: Each member of this...

I’m pretty sure they’d believe me that this was a real hidden immunity idol at this point. Another day, another fake idol. After winning the reward challenge and spending time with his wife and some nasty-looking pizza, Bob went back to the game recharged and ready to see if the nitwits he’s been playing with will fall for another fake idol for a second time in a row. First, of course, he had to get on his high horse about how Sugar laughed at Randy when he played the fake idol, as if he had nothing to do with that. Oh, except that he made the idol in the first place, showed it to Sugar, and then went along with her plan to give it to Randy for the sole purpose of embarrassing him. Come on, Bob. But my annoyance with his hypocrisy soon gave way to...

The man with the plan. How much you enjoyed last night’s episode of Survivor probably depends on how much you liked Randy. Fortunately for me, I hated him, so last night was a joy to behold. Sugar hates Randy. She hates him so much that she’d rather lose out on tasty reward challenge auction prizes than let him win any, even though she’s starving. So she tried to outbid him on everything, and when she didn’t have enough money, urged the others to do the same. In the end, though, Randy won beers and pasta along with a plate of cookies he was forced to share with everyone. Once again, Sugar would rather be without cookies than take one from him, so she refused his offer and this turned into the biggest deal ever. Randy wouldn’t let her give her cookie to Matty because he...

Survivor is no stranger to the gays. The mother of all reality competition shows has even had two openly gay million-dollar winners: Richard Hatch in Season One and Todd Herzog in China. Just when we thought we'd seen it all, however, Survivor surprised us with a sweet hobromance -- a word we coined here at AfterElton.com to describe a close non-sexual friendship between a gay man and a straight man. Think Bronnie from Make Me A Supermodel.
Straight doctor Marcus Lehman and gay lawyer Charlie Herschel had an alliance from day one, but that wasn't all Charlie had. He also had a huge, obvious crush on his straight pal. The kicker was that Marcus was so completely comfortable with Charlie's affections.
Now, we don't want to fawn over the straight boy for being nice to the gay boy, but let's face...

Hero! Sorry for the delay in getting this up, but I was so happy to see Ace go home that I partied for two days straight. The show went its usual route: Fang sucked, lost the reward challenge, Sugar got sent to Exile, Kota celebrated their win, and Randy was obnoxious. They figured they had the immunity challenge all sewn up, too, until Probst revealed the twist: both tribes were voting someone out tonight, and this challenge was for individual immunity. And it was a log-roll-off. Despite the fact Bob won a log rolling championship in college three hundred years ago, he lost out in the semi-final round to Sugar, who advanced to the final round with Ace and Marcus. Of course, Marcus won, because he’s perfect at everything. He then got the chance to award immunity to someone on the Fang tribe. After singling Sugar out to go to Exile week after week,...
