Both of those programs had some mistakes and after Thursday's competitions, Team USA was in seventh place. Only the Top 5 teams advance after the short program portion is concluded, so the U.S. needs big skates from ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White and women's singles skater Ashley Wagner.
Davis and White did their part. They skated a beautiful program that was incredibly synchronized, which is something the judges look for. Their top score catapulted the U.S. into third place in the team standings.
