The eight-season run of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" was quite a ride. Premiering in 2013, the workplace comedy about the NYPD's 99th precinct capped its first season with surprise Golden Globe wins for best comedy and best television actor in a musical or comedy series for star Andy Samberg. The show continued to receive critical acclaim but never topped the television ratings, leading Fox to cancel the series just shy of its fifth season finale. Due in large part to the outcry from loyal fans, NBC swept in the next day and picked up the quirky comedy for an additional three seasons.
After an extended hiatus due to Covid-19, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" resumed production in a world shaken by anti-police protests following the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. In response to growing cries of "copaganda," Samberg told People the cast and crew were "taking a step back" and "discussing how you...

Dick Enberg, a Hall of Fame broadcaster known as much for his excited calls of "Oh my!" as the big events he covered during a 60-year career, died Thursday. He was 82.
Enberg's daughter, Nicole Enberg Vaz, confirmed the death to The Associated Press. She said the family became concerned when he didn't arrive on his flight to Boston on Thursday, and that he was found dead at his home in La Jolla, a San Diego neighborhood, with his bags packed.
His daughter said the family believes Enberg died of a heart attack but was awaiting official word.
"It's very, very, very shocking," Vaz said. "He'd been busy with two podcasts and was full of energy."
News of his death was first reported by The San Diego Union-Tribune.
The San Diego Padres paid tribute, saying in a statement, "We are immensely saddened by the sudden and unexpected passing of legendary broadcaster Dick Enberg. Dick was an institution...

Aaron Lewis, the lead singer of Staind, flubbed a line of the National Anthem before Game 5 of the World Series, and has apologized on social media, asking “for the Nation’s forgiveness.”
Aaron Lewis Flubs Lyrics To National Anthem
Lewis took to the At&T Park field Sunday night to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and he was barely two lines in before mixing up the lyrics. Lewis sang “What so proudly we hailed were so gallantly streaming” instead of “at the twilight’s last gleaming.”
While the flub itself wasn’t so bad, the cut-away to Giants player Tim Lincecum following the mishap made it all the more memorable, and Twitter was less than forgiving.
Aaron Lewis messed up the national anthem? Same dude who released a country album full of songs about how much more American he is than us?

On October 7, 2010, the San Francisco Giants began the march towards their first World Series championship in 56 years, and Robin Williams was there.
It was just before Game 1 of the National League Division Series, and the Giants were set to take on the Atlanta Braves. Williams – who had lived to in nearby Marin County since high school – stood behind home plate at San Fran's At&T Park, with a black Giants cap on his head and a microphone in his hand, and belted out a modified version of one of his signature lines: "Gooooood Evening,...

At a press conference for upcoming San Francisco music festival Outside Lands, The Huffington Post sat down with John Oates, one half of the '70s/'80s smooth rock power duo Hall & Oates.
While we discussed the upcoming show, the solo career and new projects, one question was on everyone's mind: How did Hall & Oates suddenly become so popular with young hipsters?
Haven't noticed the recent hipster resurgence? How about this video of Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum singing their greatest hits?
Or this amazing high school lip dub to "You Make My Dreams?"
Then there's this electronic duo, who released an entire album of Hall & Oates cover songs.
And of course..."Yacht Rock."
In the past few years, Hall & Oates -- who reigned supreme before most of their new fans were born -- has been inspiring movie plots and shows, booking headlining gigs and rocking every karaoke lounge and dance floor coast to coast.

The political controversy of the week for Aug. 20 is most certainly the comments Congressman Todd Akin of Missouri made regarding rape, pregnancy chances while being raped and "legitimate rape." There was a lot to digest.
Thankfully, singer/songwriter Taylor Ferrera is here to help. This little undiscovered gem is a 2006 graduate of West Virginia University who lives in New York. She's got a nice voice, so we're definitely going to have to give more of her stuff a listen.
Some of her other videos are titled "Chick Fil A Broke My Heart," "I Hate Bank of America," "Businesses are People, Too!" and "Ode to Tim Lincecum," which has us particularly intrigued.

How can you not be romantic about baseball?
- Brad Pitt as Billy Beane in Moneyball (2010)
Unlike most other team sports, baseball is a game of individual achievements that culminate in a team’s efforts to win. Each batter stands alone at the plate, facing a pitcher who opposes him. Each defender on the field must make a play alone, or in conjunction with another defender. The cumulative efforts of each individual results in a team win or a team loss.
That is one reason why baseball has had such a strong hold on successive generations. It’s easy to imagine oneself as Babe Ruth hitting a called home run, or Don Larsen throwing a perfect game, or last year’s hero David Freese improbably winning Game Six of the World Series. These incredible moments come from one man stepping up at the right moment and delivering magic. Anyone who...

Before the 2012 Major League Baseball season, I took a stab at some playoff predictions, and at the break, I’m hovering around the Mendoza line (insert sad trombone here). There’s a few surprise teams that have literally come out of nowhere to lead their respective divisions, really throwing my picks for a loop. I’m sure I’m not the only one.
Honestly, did anyone expect the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Chicago White Sox, or the Washington Nationals to be division leaders at the All Star break? And that’s not a clown question bro?
With half the season gone I thought this would be a perfect time to revisit my predictions and make any necessary adjustments.
American League
East - I’m still sticking with the New York Yankees to win the East. The team is stacked top to bottom, and even losing Hall Of Fame to be closer...
