American Idol’s current season is now down to it’s top five contestants after Thursday night’s elimination show.
American Idol Results
The results show began with a look at the Idol hopeful’s sitting down to a home-cooked meal by Caleb Johnson’s mom to celebrate the musician's 23rd birthday. The light mood was short-lived in the auditorium, however, as soon it was time to get down to the business of the show – weeding out one more musician on the way to naming the winner of American Idol’s 13th season.
This week, Randy Jackson felt like birthday boy Johnson had nothing to worry about after his back-to-back amazing performances during the country and rock and roll themed night. Jackson also felt that Sam Woolf, who was nearly eliminated from the competition a couple of weeks ago but benefitted from a judges’ save, had shown considerable improvement and...

The Voice blind auditions continued, with showstopper Sisaundra Lewis getting the coveted four-chair turn around and 'The Brothers Walker,' an identical twin duo, making it on Team Usher.
The Voice blind auditions part 3 kicked off with a four-chair turn around for Ryan Whyte Maloney, 33. A rocker currently trying to make it in Las Vegas, Maloney got Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Shakira to turn around almost right away with his rendition of Journey’s “Lights.” Usher followed towards the end of the song, but it didn’t matter. In the end, Maloney went with Blake because he said, that’s what his son would tell him to do.
Next up was the sweet family guy, Deshawn Washington, 23, who left college after one semester to help take care of his family. Deshawn brought some fun and light to The Voice stage with “Twistin’ the Night Away” by Sam Cooke. Surprisingly,...

It's week two of Season 6 of "The Voice" and the blind auditions continue along. Those teams aren't going to fill themselves, after all. So who did coaches Shakira, Usher, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton turn around for on Monday (March 3)? Not too many, it felt like. Without further ado, let's get to it.
First up is Ryan Whyte Maloney, a trash collector and father of two from Las Vegas whose ex-wife took his kids and moved them to Florida, which is one of the sadder stories I've heard in a while. He takes the stage with Journey's "Lights" and he sounds really great. He gets a four-chair turn, easily.
"We're a match made in Heaven and I think we should be together," Shakira tells him. Ryan's response: "I'm gonna keep that in my memory forever." In the end, though, he makes his choice with his kids in mind: "I have...

Guitarist Stuart Swanlund, who joined Southern rock group the Marshall Tucker Band in 1985, has passed away at the age of 54. Publicist Don Murry Grubbs tells the AP that the guitarist died in his sleep of natural causes Saturday (Aug. 4) in his Chicago home.
The Marshall Tucker Band brought Swanlund on board in the mid-1980s after it had split and then reunited. He was the longest-running member of the band except for founding member Doug Gray.
Gray writes on the band's official website, "[Stuart] recently took a hiatus from the road due to health problems and even with those issues, Stuart's enthusiasm onstage never wavered. Our thoughts and prayers are with Stuart's family and those who knew him. We have lost a great friend."
Swanlund's funeral will be Saturday, Aug. 11 in South Carolina, where Swanlund grew up -- he was a neighbor to Gray, who he would go on to play with years later.
