Attack of the Meth Gator lets you know what you’re in for right from the start as cops raid a Florida meth lab only to have its operators make a run for it. As Shane wades across the swamp, he drops a bag of meth. That’s when we see a giant gator’s snout twitch as if it’s smelling something. Then it goes straight for the meth, then goes for Shane, and one of the cops in a drug-induced frenzy.
In response, Mayor Jensen (Nick Wilson) hires Skylar and Twain (Tristen Amason) to take care of the gator discreetly, and before the tourists start arriving for the Memorial Day Weekend. Needless to say, they quickly become gator chow instead. Sheriff Williams...

Those mockbuster makers at The Asylum are at it again. When the first live-action Transformers movie was released back in 2007, The Asylum got in on the giant robot action by releasing a movie called Transmorphers. The Transformers sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen followed in 2009 – so The Asylum responded with the Transmorphers prequel Transmorphers: Fall of Man. Since then, the Transformers franchise has continued to grow. There was Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 2011, Transformers: Age of Extinction in 2014, Transformers: The Last Knight in 2017, and the spin-off prequel Bumblebee in 2018. Another prequel, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, is in theatres right now. And while The Asylum has let several Transformers movies come and go without meeting them with a Transmorphers mockbuster, this year they’re finally reviving the franchise with Transmorphers: Mech Beasts! You can watch the film’s trailer in the embed above.

Stars: Tom Sizemore, Natalie Storrs, Mark Ricketson, Kristos Andrews. Plastic Martyr | Written by Joe Roche, Rolfe Kanefsky | Directed by Noah Luke
Battle for Pandora is The Asylum’s mockbuster answer to Avatar: The Way of Water, although the trailer looked like it was as much inspired by James Cameron’s earlier film The Abyss, and perhaps inevitably given the two film’s similar effects, Terminator 2. It also looked a lot more interesting than anything to do with the Avatar franchise, although to be honest that really wouldn’t be too hard.
The Cassini 3 landed on Saturn’s moon Pandora and promptly stopped communicating with Earth. In response, a rescue mission led by Commander Hank Lewis (Tom Sizemore), is dispatched. On board is infectious disease specialist Dr. Jennifer Ryan (Natalie Storrs) and her husband Dr. Cliff Ryan (Mark Ricketson). This complicates things because Jennifer and the Cassini’s captain Greg (Kristos Andrews) have a history.

The Asylum’s latest film, 4 Horsemen: Apocalypse dispenses with the usual buildup and gets right to the point. The world is in the midst of unprecedented storms, volcanic activity and locust swarms. They’re so bad the world will be destroyed in 12 hours if something isn’t done to stop it. And all General Norriss knows is that the epicentre is somewhere in Brazil. Luckily for her Sgt. Irv Shockley (Bridger Buckley) and Major Oakley Jones are already in the area so they can become the security detail for the team of experts she’s sending to deal with it.
Vulcanologist Dr. Lynise Hughes, meteorologist Dakota Lenna and microbiologist Elliot Rodney are all experts in their fields. But is that enough to...

Devil’s Triangle is the latest film from The Asylum, kings of the mockbuster, who – this time around – give us an original story, set in that most famous of mysterious “landmarks”, the Bermuda Triangle. And who doesn’t love a good Bermuda Triangle movie? Hollywood certainly does. Hell, we got an entire TV show inspired by the urban legend.
Devil’s Triangle reminded me very much of 1978’s The Return of Captain Nemo – that film, at the time, married old-fashioned tech with modern-day stylings, whereas Devil’s Triangle takes futuristic elements of the Atlanteans and transplants wonder-day folk into them. And given that I’ve always Loved The Return of Captain Nemo, I felt...

The Asylum return to the disaster movie well with Collision Earth, yet another “Earth’s in trouble and only science can save us” film. This one comes from first-time director Matthew Boda, a lighting technician (who worked on the likes of Californication and The Colony) turned filmmaker who’s made numerous shorts prior to this but this movie marks his feature debut. However Boda is not the only newcomer behind the scenes of Collision Earth as actor and comedian Joe Roche – who appeared in The Asylum’s Aladdin mockbuster, Adventures of Aladdin last year And plays one of the military crew monitoring the meteor shower here – pens the script for a film that follows just about every cliche and stereotype in the book.
