It is always a good sign for a forthcoming album when its pre-released singles can be found in places other than on iTunes. With this success, we add another chip to our bets on the triumph of the album’s sales. The upperhand can be easily played with Ida Maria’s upcoming album, “Katla”, which will drop on June 7th, via Mercury Records. How do we know to place our bets on this Norwegian artist? Well, take a listen to the album’s released singles, “Bad Karma” and “Cherry Red.” “Bad Karma” can already be heard in the movie, “Scream 4,” in the trailer for Focus Features’ “It’s Kind Of A Funny Story,”...

The soundtracks to "Scream" and "Scream 2" were diverse mishmashes of modern rock, hip-hop, soul and electronic, placing bands like Sugar Ray and Collective Soul alongside D'Angelo and Master P.
By the time we got to 2000's "Scream 3," cock rock was in full bloom, with the soundtrack reading like a who's who of early-2000s, post-grunge adolescent angst and rage (Godsmack! Sevendust! Staind!). Mom and dad may not have understood you, but that soundtrack sure did.
For "Scream 4," we get a combination of high-energy bar rock and commercially-minded electro-pop tailor-made for teenagers of both genders. The raucous bar-friendly rock of The Novocaines ("Cup of Coffee") and Locksley ("On Fire") recall The Caesars, The Datsuns and countless other "The" groups that appropriated and, in some cases, updated the Nuggets box set for a new generation. It's not hard to picture these tracks alongside someone running, or getting murdered or running to avoid getting murdered.

The Scream 4 soundtrack. Gazing back into the distant mists of time (well, the late ‘90s), it’s now easy to see that the first Scream was as much of a rebirth red herring for the horror genre as Pulp Fiction was for the American indie movie, and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was for the British gangster flick. Just like those two, Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson’s superb slasher seemed poised to usher a new era of postmodern wit and sparkle in its chosen field, but only actually succeeded in spawning hordes of unforgivably feeble imitators. Scream 3, to name one.
Still, a Scream soundtrack – what a cheery concept, evoking as it does the notion of an entire record of scream-centric numbers to wrap one’s lugholes round. Like what? Ooh, well, Scream by Michael and Janet Jackson springs immediately to mind, though that’s hardly the...

This latest installment of Soundtrack Round Up kicks off with the soundtrack to the upcoming Scream 4. Wes Craven’s revisit of his infamous post-modern slasher franchise is accompanied by a bevy of loud and in-your-face electro rock tracks as well as a couple of cuts (pun intended) from veteran Scream composer Marco Beltrami’s score. Whilst subtlety is not on the menu, excitement and energy most certainly are, and this clutch of up-tempo, lyrically tongue in cheek hip-shakers provide a fun and noisy listen. Acts include Stereo Black, 6 Day Riot and Ida Maria, though the highlight of the album is probably its opening track, ‘Something to Die For’ by The Sounds.
Next up is David James Nielsen’s score for Tall Ships: The Privateer Lynx, the first episode of a new documentary series about ‘America’s greatest sailing ships’ which is airing on The Sailing Channel. I had previously...

With the amount of stills that have been showing up for upcoming sequel 'Scream 4' I'm starting to think I may be able to put together a pretty comprehensive flip-book of the entire movie. Four new stills, including one in which Neve Campbell appears to be doing her best zombie walk impression and another where Rory Culkin seems to be about to score some first base action with 'Heroes' hottie Hayden Panettiere. Along with the new set of stills, which also feature Courteney Cox and Emma Roberts, iTunes have revealed the full track listing for the upcoming 'Scream 4' soundtrack. It features tracks from various artists including Ida Maria, The Novocaines and Marco Beltrami. The big question though, will Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' Red Right Hand appear for a fourth time? Check out the tracks and stills below....

"Scream 4" is just around the corner (are you scared yet?) and along with it comes a brand new soundtrack.
The "Scream 4" soundtrack is now available for pre-order on iTunes and includes singles from Ida Maria, The Sounds, Stereo Black and more. The 12-track album sells for $9.99 and will be released April 12, just three days before the film hits theaters.
As if you haven't been teased enough, we've got more stills from the fourth installment of the franchise that will keep you guessing. We'll spare you any captions, we think the photos are pretty self explanatory.
The Dimension Horror YouTube channel has plenty of clips to keep you satisfied (or completely torture you) until the April 15th premiere. Below, we've included a little snippet to introduce you to Rory Culkin and Erik Knudsen's characters, as well as one of our favorite scenes -- An obvious throwback to the Billy Loomis days.

Based on the 2006 novel of the same name by Ned Vizzini, It’s Kind Of a Funny Story very much uses the medium of an adult psychiatric wing to explore the nuances and intricacies involved within human relationships. The story follows newly admitted16 year old Craig Gilner through the inner workings of an adult psychiatric floor as he is introduced to numerous people, chief among them Bobby, played by Zach Galifianakis. As Bobby and Craig bond strengthens, the story reveals itself as one of courage and respect; truth is not always told in how one believes they should act but governed from the sincerity and realism they see within themselves.
Adopting the classic tale of parental push meets adolescent pull and stylized to meet that classic story, the score of this film, done by the numerous members of Canadian export Broken Social Scene, reflects the complex emotions present in the film.

Doesn't it seem like Zach Galifianakis is in every comedy these days? There he is in Dinner with Schmucks. There he is in a straight-to-dvd movie called Operation: Endgame. There he just was in the trailer for Due Date. And now here he is in the latest from Half Nelson and Sugar filmmakers Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, It's Kind of a Funny Story, which comes out in September. Thanks to Yahoo! Movies, we get our first look at the trailer for the indie dramedy, which also stars Emma Roberts, Viola Davis, Lauren Graham, the Daily Show's Aasif Mandvi and, in the lead, young Keir Gilchrist, from The United States of Tara.
Based on the young adult novel by Ned Vizzini, It's Kind of a Funny Story is about a depressed, suicidal teen who checks himself into a mental hospital, befriends one fellow patient (Galifianakis) and falls for another (Roberts...

From the use of the 500 Days of Summer font to the quirky premise and the extensive use of Ida Maria’s “Oh My God,” in the trailer, It’s Kind of a Funny Story could very well be the indie comedy that is contractually obligated to come out every year since Little Miss Sunshine had so much success. That’s not a knock on the film which features Zack Galifiniakis and is directed by Half Nelson helmers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. In fact, the trailer makes the movie look like a creative, sweet march down the insane asylum. Plus, you should watch it just to get Zack Galifianakis’s advise on picking up chicks. … [visit site to read more]...

A trailer has been released for the third film from indie directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden (Sugar, Half Nelson). Adapted from Ned Vizzini’s 2006 novel of the same name, it stars Keir Gilchrist as Craig, a stressed teenager who checks himself into a mental health clinic. It co-stars the great Zach Galifianakis and has a solid supporting cast. I love Fleck/Boden's previous films and this looks fantastic. I also like the use of Ida Maria's 'Oh My God'. It opens on September 24th.
