We told you last night that Blumhouse and Universal’s Five Nights at Freddy’s is a massive hit, debuting with $78 million domestically and $130 million worldwide over the weekend.
Made on a production budget of just $20 million, Five Nights at Freddy’s is proving to be a big time moneymaker for the studios, and a sequel is all but guaranteed at this point.
But before we look ahead to what’s next – stay tuned for updates! – let’s take a look at the box office records that the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie has already shattered.
Five Nights at Freddy’s has already become…
1) The biggest Blumhouse global opening of all time, ahead of Halloween ($91.8M).

With the days counting down until the Dead Space remake is finally unleashed, EA and composer Trevor Gureckis have a little treat for us in the form of “Make Us Whole”, an exclusive track from the Dead Space soundtrack. Fans of Henry Jacobson‘s Bloodline will be all too familiar with Gureckis’ work, who has also collaborated with M. Night Shyamalan on Old and the Apple+ series “Servant”.
The Dead Space remake is Trevor Gureckis’ first foray into Aaa video game scores. The full score will be released on the same day as the remake, courtesy of Lakeshore Records.
“Making the score to Dead Space was an 18 month long journey that started out with musically reassessing the lore of the game from scratch – and searching for thematic opportunities,” explains Gureckis. “I began by writing musical suites not connected to specific scenes or chapters, but rather to the story alone. For example,...

Bloodline filmmaker Henry Jacobson held nothing back in his feature directorial debut. The career documentarian was encouraged by his leading man, Seann William Scott, to take this serial-killer-has-a-baby story in an even darker direction; such encouragement, however, ultimately led to an Nc-17 rating as of the film’s world premiere at 2018’s Fantastic Fest. With Blumhouse involved, the pic’s gore needed to be pared back for an R-rating.

The manic, filter-free, all-id persona Seann William Scott embodied in the roles that first brought him to attention nearly a couple decades ago — notably teen comedies “Road Trip,” “Dude, Where’s My Car?” and the “American Pie” series — did something inspired with a familiar type. The alpha frat-bro character is usually a villain, or at least a tool. But this actor lent polo-collar-up dudedom in shark-like search of sex or any other stimulus an absurdist, howling-at-the-moon zest.
He could play hyper (as in “American Pie’s” Stifler) or dirt-dumb (“Goon” and its sequel) with equal aplomb. Yet somehow the industry couldn’t quite figure out what to do with him, resulting in too many misfired comedies and an eventual general sense of “Whatever happened to Seann William Scott?” Sure, he filled Clayne Crawford’s vacancy on TV’s “Lethal Weapon,” and still lends voice to “Ice Age” sequels. But somehow...

Last week, I had the honor of interviewing Seann William Scott, the actor best known for his roles in the American Pie franchise, Role Models, Goon and its sequel, and his most recent film, Bloodline. I was able to view this film ahead of its premiere, and it was a trip. This was a darker film than I had seen Scott in before, and coming from Blumhouse, it wasn’t a big surprise. The movie was directed and co-written by Henry Jacobson, with this being his first feature film. Despite the gratuitous nudity and over-the-top blood and gore, which I’m not particularly a fan of, the story did have twists I did not see coming, and I thought it was fun and interesting to see Scott in a new role that was reminiscent of Dexter and Norman Bates all rolled into one.

Ever since seeing Bloodline at the 2019 Popcorn Frights Film Festival, I've had its infectious, synth-infused soundtrack stuck in my head, as the original music by Trevor Gureckis is like its own character in the film, giving the serial killer story a deadly pulse that hearkens back to some of the most memorable collaborations between John Carpenter and Alan Howarth. With Bloodline—Original Motion Picture Soundtrack coming to digital via Lakeshore Records on September 20th (the same day the film will be released in theaters and on Digital and VOD by Momentum Pictures), we've been provided with an exclusive track from the film's score to share with Daily Dead readers.

Sean William Scott as a serial killer. As soon as I read that I knew Bloodline was a movie and role that I never knew I wanted to see but now had to. I was very much looking forward to see if it worked out at all like I hoped it would.
Scott plays Evan, father of a newborn son with his wife Lauren (Mariela Garriga) and we see the stress of a new baby effects both of them in very different ways. Evan has a tendency to kill people and now he has a son to look after and protect. While Lauen is struggling with breast feeding and a very limited amount of sleep,...

Everyone loves a well-known actor trying out something wildly different, flexing their genre muscles with a meaty villain role. Octavia Spencer in Ma, James McAvoy in Split, Blumhouse alone have backed a hefty amount in the past few years, so it’s no surprise that they’re the ones behind the similarly inclined Bloodline, with 00s favourite Seann William Scott front and centre. But while others have found something of a resurgence in their unexpected shift to the dark side, the Stiffmeister himself sadly isn’t quite as lucky.
Part character-study, part quietly stylish slasher, Bloodline unfortunately isn’t anything particularly new or exciting. Scott’s Evan has a decent enough duality to him – high school guidance counsellor and perpetually tired new parent by day, avenging sociopathic serial killer by night – and there’s definitely some pull towards him as a character. The work-life/home-life/murderer-life balance has an innate tension to it for sure,...

Full admission: the concept of Sean William Scott, an actor best known for raunchy and outrageous comedies, in a horror movie doesn't immediately strike excitement but feature film debut Henry Jacobson looks really promising.
Bloodline stars Scott as Evan, a fiercely devoted family man who, by day, spends his time as a social worker, listening to and providing support to kids with difficult family lives.
After the arrival of his newborn son, Evan's passion for protecting children becomes an obsession and he's soon spending his nights as an avenging angel for the kids in his care.
Mariela Garriga and "The Leftovers" star Kevin Carroll also co-star.

Seann William Scott (American Pie) stars in a new horror thriller called Bloodline. He plays a character named Evan, a Dexter-like character who goes out and kills people who abuse and harm kids. It’s his way of justice.
It’s explained that Evan “values family above all else, and anyone who gets between him, his wife, and newborn son learns that the hard way. But when it comes to violent tendencies, it's his only release.” It looks like an intense and brutal film and it’s cool to see Scott in a new movie.
Bloodline is the directorial debut of Henry Jacobson, and the cast also includes Mariela Garriga, Dale Dickey, Kevin Carroll, Christie Herring, Leith M. Burke, Nick Boraine, and Dusty Sorg. Looks intensely brutal, as expected, usual Blumhouse thrills. See below.
Bloodline comes from Blumhouse and it will be released on September 20th, 2019.

When think of Seann William Scott you think of his lighter roles in the comedy and action genres. Scott took the opportunity to spread his wings into darker territory in Henry Jacobson's debut feature film, the horror, Bloodline. Evan (Seann William Scott) values family above all else, and anyone who gets between him, his wife, and newborn son learns that the hard way. But when it comes to violent tendencies, it seems the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. The trailer for Jacobson's film dropped the other day. Have a look below. It’s been a busy few weeks which means I’ve been watching a lot of new films, but I’ve also fallen a bit behind on reviews for several of them. That being said, here are my thoughts on a quartet of movies I’ve recently had the pleasure of watching, including two Netflix originals—Gareth Evans’ Apostle and Timo Tjahjanto’s The Night Comes For Us (which hits the platform this Friday)—as well as Between Worlds from Maria Pulera and Henry Jacobson’s Bloodline, which features Seann William Scott as a serial killer.
Apostle: The last time filmmaker Gareth Evans dipped his toes into the murky waters of horror cinema, the results were the spectacular segment from V/H/S/2, “Safe Haven,” which still remains my favorite short from the entire V/H/S franchise. As someone who loves slasher movies with every fiber of her being, Bloodline was absolutely 100 percent my jam (as the cool kids would say). Directed by Henry Jacobson, and co-written by Avra Fox-Lerner, Will Honley, and Jacobson, Bloodline follows a well-meaning guidance counselor named Evan (played by the perpetually underrated Seann William Scott), who has a penchant for violence, particularly when it comes to the family ties of his students. And as he and his wife, Lauren (Mariela Garriga), struggle to adjust to becoming parents for the first time, the stress takes its toll, with the counselor taking out his frustrations in some violent and horrific ways.
Bloodline recently celebrated its world premiere at Fantastic Fest 2018, and this writer had the opportunity to speak with both Jacobson and Fox-Lerner about their approach to the script, tapping into Seann William Scott’s darker side, collaborating with both Garriga and co-star Dale Dickey,...

Exclusive: ICM Partners has signed Emma Tammi and Henry Jacobson and their production company Mind Hive, with the move coming ahead of the world premiere of Tammi’s Western horror pic The Wind next week in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto Film Festival.
Tammi is making her feature directorial debut on The Wind, which is written by Teresa Sutherland. The pic centers on a woman (Caitlin Gerard) who moves to the American frontier with her husband, and an evil presence soon makes itself known, stirring paranoia.
It premieres Monday night in Tiff’s genre sidebar, and ICM Partners and Xzy Films are repping the film on the ground.
Meanwhile, Jacobson, who with Tammi is among the exec producers on The Wind, is prepping to debut his film Bloodline starring Seann William Scott at Fantastic Fest, which kicks off later this month. Jacobson co-wrote the thriller with Avra Fox-Lerner.
