Fans of Dr. Phil have long heard him dispense advice on life and self-help. They will soon get to hear his take on breaking-news headlines and even the new Department of Government Efficiency in a series of new podcasts slated for launch by his Merit Street Media.

MeritTV, Dr. Phil’s TV network, will have McGraw host four new programs. Merit will also this spring launch a new daily podcast from Chris Harrison, the former host of “The Bachelor” and his wife, Lauren Zima. MeritTV will have exclusive rights to the content, which will also air on MeritTV weekday mornings.

“We’re thrilled to expand our programming offerings into the growing podcast space with these timely and unique shows,” McGraw said in a statement. “There are more programs coming as MeritTV continues expanding into new content arenas.”

This is part of an overall deal that Harrison signed with McGraw’s Merit Street Media, a new streaming and broadcast network that launches on April 2 with Dr. Phil Primetime.

A posthumous Emmy was given to Sonya Eddy, the General Hospital actress who died last summer at the age of 55.

“General Hospital” and “The Kelly Clarkson Show” were the big winners at the 50th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which were handed out on Friday night in Los Angeles. The Most Dramatic Podcast Ever … With Chris Harrison, a partnership between iHeartRadio and Podtrac, will premiere Jan. 9, 2023. Nischelle Turner has been promoted to co-host of “Entertainment Tonight.” She’ll now anchor the entertainment newsmagazine program alongside existing host Kevin Frazier on a full-time basis.

“Nischelle can do it all. She can go from a heartfelt conversation with Oscar winner Viola Davis about the impact of Cicely Tyson to singing karaoke on a balcony with Jimmy Fallon. She is warm, thoughtful, and full of energy,” Erin Johnson, “Entertainment Tonight’s” executive producer, said in a statement on Thursday. “Celebrities respect her skills as a seasoned journalist, and our audience has taken notice of her fun chemistry with Kevin (Frazier). There is no one more deserving to lead ‘Et’ in our history making 40th season and beyond.”

“Entertainment Tonight” has found its newest co-host, elevating Nischelle Turner to the top job alongside current host Kevin Frazier. With the promotion, Turner makes history as the first Black woman to serve as co-host of “Et.”

“It means everything to me,” Turner tells Variety of the historic moment. “Make no mistake about it: I believe and have always believed that I was the best person for the job, but it was never lost on me that it was also bigger than just me. I would be representing an underserved group of people who are finally getting a moment in the spotlight — and a well-deserved moment.”

Harrison had left the “Bachelorette” bubble — the La Quinta Resort & Club in La Quinta, Calif. — to drop his son, Joshua, off at college at Texas Christian University. He documented the event on Instagram on Tuesday. Upon Harrison’s return to California, he was required to undergo a mandatory two-week quarantine, per the show’s Covid-19 safety precautions, before he can return to set.

Former “Bachelor” star Colton Underwood is on the road to a full recovery from coronavirus as his symptoms are “under control.”

“I’ll be fine,” Underwood said Saturday on “The Bachelor” host Chris Harrison‘s nightly Instagram Live Group Date chats. “I’m lucky enough to have it under control for the most part.”
