In the spring of 2007, the United Kingdom joined eight other countries in launching its own talent search TV program entitled “Britain’s Got Talent.” Except for a Covid-19 pandemic-induced break in 2021, a new season of the series has aired every year since, with the last having concluded with comedian Viggo Venn’s victory in June 2023. Venn is the 16th performer to take the “Bgt” crown. Scroll through our photo gallery to see and learn about him and everyone else on the “Britain’s Got Talent” winners list.
Since its inception, “Britain’s Got Talent” has been hosted by comedians Ant & Dec and judged by Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden. Alesha Dixon began her hosting tenure in 2012, while Bruno Tonioli just started in 2023. The first champion, opera singer Paul Potts, defeated 23 other semifinalists, with six-year-old vocalist Connie Talbot coming in second.

If you had told us before this season of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” began that Voices of Service wouldn’t make the finale we’d have called you crazy. Following their first performance of the new season on the January 27 episode we thought they deserved a Golden Buzzer. So when new judge Alesha Dixon didn’t use it we thought well surely the superfans would vote them through.
Nope!
Unfortunately they fell into the bottom six and when pitted against Strauss Serpent and Emil Rengle they came up short.
In the second group of low scorers, Connie Talbot was set against rap group Bars and Melody and acrobats Sandou Trio Russian Bar. Connie was six when she competed on the first series of “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2007. On “The Champions” she returned as a 19-year-old and delivered a gorgeous piano ballad that she wrote herself, proving that her voice...

Can Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel please be the next two judges booted from America’s Got Talent? After Monday’s episode of The Champions, which set the stage for next week’s semifinals, I’m not sure either one of them knows the meaning of the word anymore.
My frustration — which I imagine will be shared by many — comes from the final elimination of the night, the dreaded “judges’ choice.” This week, the panel’s options included Brian King Joseph, an exceptional violinist whose neuropathy will someday leave him paralyzed; Christian and Percy, a human-dog act that exemplifies strength, dedication and companionship; and JJ Pantano,...

Connie Talbot is a teenager who knows how to keep the hope alive. Twelve years ago, she competed in “Britain’s Got Talent” and made it to the finals but did not get a recording deal. Unfortunately, even the second attempt was not successful, but that does not mean she has been waiting around doing nothing; she has several albums to her name. Britain's Got Talent returns to our small screen on Saturday (April 12), and we've already been treated to a sneak peek at some of the acts we can expect to see on stage during the show's premiere.
But whatever happened to some of the show's most memorable acts from years gone by? What have they gone on to do following their appearance on the ITV talent show, we hear you ponder? Wonder no more with some of Bgt's past performers - from stand-out stars to the plain strange:
Faryl Smith
Mezzo-soprano Faryl Smith - then aged just 12 - blew the judges away and probably made Amanda Holden break down and blub with her beautiful rendition of 'Ava Maria' on the show in 2008.
Following her accomplishment as a finalist on the show, the singer signed a contract with Universal Classics and Jazz and released her debut album Faryl in March 2009. It went...

Omg it’s little Connie Talbot and she’s gotten even more amazing!
This morning we were sent a link to a video of the ten year old singing Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’ and we were astounded to hear how astounding she has become.
You’ll remember that Connie first shot to fame after she made Amanda Holden cry with her version of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ on the 2007 series of Britain’s Got Talent. The youngster lost out to opera singer Paul Potts on the final and though Simon Cowell at first signed her to his Syco record label and recorded a few tracks for her album, he later dropped her saying she was ‘too young.’
Connie did go on to release her music and enjoyed a number one single in Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan. However we think, after hearing this clip, she’ll go on to...

Dannii Minogue is in a bit of a tizzy over her new clothing line ‘Project D.’
The X Factor judge had 15 of the ‘D’ dresses adapted for her pregnancy bump and planned to model then for photoshoots promoting the launch of the range. However, all 15 are now stuck in Hong Kong due the closure of British airspace last week.
A source told The Mirror: “It’s a total nightmare. Dannii is back in the UK for shoots and promotion for the launch of Project D – but she doesn’t have any of the dresses to wear as they are still stuck in Hong Kong awaiting a flight to the UK.
“Dannii is concerned all the promo will have to be postponed and the shoots will have to be cancelled.”

Simon Cowell has revealed that he may leave Britain’s Got Talent, but hasn’t yet decided who would replace him.
In an interview with The Mirror the music mogul admitted that he may take a reduced role on next year’s series, leaving the auditioning to Piers Mirgan, Amanda Holden and a celebrity stand in.
Cowell said: “I am looking at Bgt and whether I have a different role, maybe coming in at a later stage.
“I like the show but it takes a hell of a lot of time. You sit there watching horrific acts and you think, ‘I genuinely can’t do this anymore’.
“I am considering next year, coming in for the semi-finals, just the studio bit.
“Can I see the show without me? Yes, it can work without me.

Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell once admitted that he didn’t approve of children appearing on TV talent shows.
The Mirror have discovered an interview for a Us radio show in 2004, where Simon was asked how he felt about children appearing on competitive TV shows. He replied:
“I have a problem with that, I really do.
“I even have a problem with people entering at 16…They’re just too young…Look at Michael Jackson…when you deprive someone of that age of their normal growing up, you really can do them serious damage.”
Britain’s Got Talent regularly features young children. Who could forget the gorgeous rendition of Over The Rainbow given by six year old Connie Talbot, or the tears of ten year old Hollie Steel as she forgot her words and broke down on stage.
