Fame Academy may only have lasted two series, but boy, did it burn bright. And even though it was over ten years ago that it was on our screens, we're still belting out David Sneddon's utter tune 'Stop Living The Lie' at our DS karaoke sessions.
But the news of series two's Alistair Griffin teaming up with Kimberley Walsh for a Tour de France single got us thinking - what happened to all of our favourite Fame Academy contestants? Well, here's what we could find out about 16 of the students over both series...

Ashley might have been eliminated in week one of Fame Academy (the shame) but he's not let that little disappointment hold him back. He went on to guest star in an episode of Cbbc's Mi: High... look, we promise, this gets better. He's now a sports presenter who helped launch Arsenal TV,...

Gareth Gates has become the latest celebrity to leave Dancing on Ice All-Stars.
The singer follows in the footsteps of Bonnie Langford, who exited the ITV competition at the end of last Sunday's live show.
Gates and partner Brianne Delcourt had to battle it out in the skate-off with Sam Attwater and Vicky Ogden to decide who remained in the show when the two couples found themselves bottom after this week's vote.
Attwater performed to 'Dream Catch Me' by Newton Faulkner in the skate-off, while Gates skated to U2's 'Beautiful Day' in a bid to stay in the competition.
Judges Nicky Slater, Ashley Roberts and Jason Gardiner voted to save Attwater. Stand-in head judge Karen Barber agreed with the other judges, opting to eliminate Gates from the competition.
Following the vote, Gates said: "It's been amazing. I just want to thank this lovely lady [Brianne], she's been amazing."

Janet Devlin has revealed that she feels like she was forced to cry on The X Factor.
The 19-year-old, who appeared on the ITV show in 2011, told Metro that producers pushed her to show emotion at the judges' houses stage of the competition.
"I was on that roof [in Miami] for several hours," she said. "I was being quite emotionless, which got on their nerves. They said, 'How do you expect anyone to connect with you unless you let your guard down?' Eventually, I cried. It was horrible."
Devlin also opened up about losing her grandfather during her time on the show, saying: "They asked what happened, I cried, and that was it. I needed to address it because the fact he'd passed away had already trended on Twitter.

Janet Devlin has unveiled some new material online. On Friday (October 26), the former X Factor contestant uploaded a video to her YouTube account which includes footage of her performing tracks live at Steelworks Studios in Sheffield. "A lot of people think I've been doing nothing," says Devlin at the start of the six-minute clip. "But I've kept my head down and been really busy actually writing my own songs for the album." The 17-year-old singer from County Tyrone can then be heard performing a pop-folk song that carries the lyrical hook "it could be wonderful" and a more mournful ballad titled 'Crown of Thorns'. Earlier this month, Devlin confirmed that she had been working with songwriters including Newton Faulkner and Joshua Radin. The teenager described (more)...

London –Elton John has rocked up at the top of the U.K. album chart for his first chart-topper in more than 20 years. The British star's collaboration with Australian electro-duo Pnau Good Morning To The Night, went straight in a number one, replacing singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner, whose album Write It On Your Skin fell 10 places. Elton's collaboration with Pnau sees the veteran's early 1970s catalogue refashioned into eight new songs. When it initially launched, Amazon was selling an MP3 version for an offer price of £3.99 ($6.23). The CD is currently available for

Newton Faulkner has admitted that he wants to maintain a high profile following the success of his new album. He told Digital Spy: "I wanted to get the next single out as quickly as possible. I'm really pushing for it and need to keep on the promo train. "Apparently it's being serviced at the moment, which just sounds like a rude thing to me. It's not what it sounds like though (more)...

Newton Faulkner has topped the UK albums chart with third LP Write It On Your Skin. The Brit singer-songwriter emerged as the early favourite for number one after the album was revealed to be the biggest seller in the midweek charts. It is Faulkner's second number one record, as debut Hand Built by Robots reached the top spot after four weeks on release in 2007. Faulkner said to OfficialCharts.com of his latest achievement: "I've been completely blown away by the response to this album. It was three years solid work, but so worth it!" Frank Ocean's Channel Orange debuts at number two, only 3,000 copies behind Faulkner, after the record was Rush-released this week. Ocean's arrival bumps Maroon 5's Overexposed down to three, while hotly-tipped South Londoner Lianne La Havas (more)...

Not many films are set at music festivals. D.A. Pennebaker’s documentary, “Monterey Pop” is vital, we’ll grant you, and other rock docs that expose something fundamental about the artists they’re profiling (“Don’t Look Back,” “Gimme Shelter”) remain compelling portraits of some of the most important artists of the twentieth-century. But, much like stand-up comedy or running for high office, fictional recreations of what compels a human being to get up onstage in front of thousands of people and expose themselves to the public at large, are far and few between.
With this in mind we turn to “You Instead,” which is director David Mackenzie’s seventh feature film, not that you’d known it from anything on display here. It has all the manufactured, forcible ‘fun’ of a T-Mobile flash-mob advert although it attempts to weave a spontaneous star-cross’d romance out of a happenstance meeting...

You Instead has a nice premise behind it, but fails to deliver in a way that makes it anything more than a fair film. The plot follows two feuding rock artists handcuffed together mere hours before they’re (separately) due to perform with their bands.
The film is set and was filmed at T in the Park in 5 days, this is an incredible feat – organised chaos is probably one of the hardest things to organise and not being able to go back for reshoots meant that they were under strict scheduling and everything needed to be completed over the weekend. While this is interesting and gives the film an edge, it stops the film becoming as good as it should be.
Luke Treadaway plays Adam, one half of a successful electric pop band who arrived in their tour bus ready to perform for all their fans. Natalia Tena plays Morello,...

Bit of a change from our usual rhythm here, but we thought we'd bring you an exclusive look at this rather charming music video from British artist Charlie Winston (who's massive in France, even though he's yet to become a household name here in the UK). The link? Well, his latest video for I Love Your Smile stars Audrey Tautou, and she makes movies, so it's all totally relevant. The video's pretty self-explanatory, although Winston says it's about “seeing how wonderful life is and sharing that feeling, simply with a smile”. Also, we think it's about bikes. The song's out on February 22 (from the album Hobo), and Winston will be on tour around the UK with Newton Faulkner from March 3 - 17. As far as we know, however, Tautou won't be with him. But he might bring his bike we suppose, the better to be adorable and quirky.
