Filmmaker Alex Fofonoff’s cosmic horror short takes the tension of forced socialisation to a whole new level. When a novelist, whose career seems to be imploding, takes refuge in a friend’s vacation home she comes across two strangers who claim to be the house’s caretakers. As conversations start and the initial confusion begins to subside, the author suspects a dark secret could be at play. There’s no need to explain any further what happens plot-wise because Fofonoff’s film is a classic thrill ride with twists and turns that’ll keep you on your toes. From its grainy 16mm to its Under The Skin-esque score, Fofonoff embellishes his world with a profound sense of unease that permeates every frame, making his short a terrific slice of old-school genre filmmaking. Dn discussed the construction of these elements with Fofonoff, the challenge of pushing his craft to a new level,...

Exclusive: In 2009, Justin Roiland pitched an animated comedy to Fox that was a mix of family high jinks and screwball variety acts. The result was The Paloni Family Comedy Show, an off-the-rails pilot presentation that didn’t make the cut for Fox’s Animation Domination. A show ahead of its time, perhaps?
Looks like the time is now: On October 17, Hulu will air The Paloni Show! Halloween Special!, which follows Leroy, Reggie and Cheruce Paloni as they host a Halloween special full of spooky shorts from a group of up-and-coming animators.
Roiland voices Leroy, the oldest sibling in the family who is an optimistic, hardworking guy who’s dream is to make and host his own variety show. Zach Hadel (Smiling Friends) plays Reggie, the short-fused, fast-talking little brother of Leroy who has a tendency to let his temper get in the way of doing his job as a host.

Turning a comic book into a live-action TV series is not a revolutionary idea in the current TV landscape — but turning a comic book into a live-action TV series that is then itself turned into an animated series set in the same universe is not a pitch studio and network execs get every day.
That’s what “The Boys” executive producers Seth Rogen, Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg set out to do when they came up with the idea for the very adult cartoon shorts “The Boys Presents: Diabolical,” while they were simultaneously working on the upcoming third season of the mothership Amazon Prime Video series and its recently ordered untitled superhero-college spinoff.
“We were deep in the pandemic and we were looking to get something from what we’re calling the Vcu on the air go before Season 3,” “The Boys” showrunner Eric Kripke told Variety, citing the show’s Vought Cinematic Universe.

The social media comedy series Blark & Son, about an out-of-touch dad trying to relate to his awkward adolescent boy, is coming to Verizon’s Tumblr and go90 platforms.
The quirky live-action puppet series, which got its start with weekly 30-second installments on Instagram, will expand to seven-minute episodes that premiere on June 4.

Despite being set in the present day, the world of Brigsby Bear (2017, directed by Dave McCary) is a cosy 1980s nostalgia affair. Most of what we see either comes from or belongs to another time. It is a very deliberate look that extends right across the production design and costumes.
Separate from the overall costume design of Brigsby Bear (by Sarah Mae Burton), Stoopid Buddy Stoodios worked on the creation and execution of the actual Brigsby Bear suit. We chatted to David Brooks and Ben Bayouth from the studio to discover exactly how they arrived upon the distinctive finished article.
Clothes on Film: What led Stoopid Buddy Stoodios to be working on Brigsby Bear?
Ben Bayouth: Well I had worked with one of the producers beforehand. Also I’d recently started with Stoopid Buddy in their new ‘Buddy Builds’ department which was set up to make all sorts of practical effects.
