Elementary returns from the festive break with an underwhelming case but all its usual charisma...
This review contains spoilers.
1.11 Dirty Laundry
Invisible ink? Russian spies? This week’s Elementary was a nostalgic throwback to crime shows past, a tune whistled from The Big Book of Detective Standards. Unfortunately, the premise didn’t serve the episode well, and instead of the sixties spy tropes adding up to a kitschy fun caper, the viewers were presented with just another underwhelming, slightly tired case.
Luckily for Elementary, the charismatic presence of Miller, Liu and Quinn is enough to carry us over the inevitable bumps that come along in twenty-two episode, case-of-the-week series - even if the personal stories of all three were frustratingly side-lined in favour of the investigation in Dirty Laundry.
The episode’s murder plot unravelled with the clockwork regularity of a bored organ grinder. An initial flurry of suspects were met,...

Chicago – Sarah Bolger is a truly lovely actress. She delivered one of the best child performances of all time in Jim Sheridan’s 2002 family drama, “In America,” and over the last decade, has blossomed into a real screen beauty. Hopefully it will only be a matter of time before the actress starts getting offered projects more worthy of her abilities. No one this lovely should be sentenced to a film as dreary as “The Moth Diaries.”
Here is one of the most curiously amateurish thrillers in many a moon. It was directed by Mary Harron, whose track record up until now has been peerless (“I Shot Andy Warhol,” “American Psycho,” “The Notorious Bettie Page”). The wit and urgency of her earlier work appears to have evaporated entirely from this flat horror fantasy with a scare factor equivalent to a particularly cheesy episode of “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” Characters...

Title: The Moth Diaries Directed By: Mary Harron Starring: Sarah Bolger, Lily Cole, Sarah Gadon, Valerie Tian, Melissa Farman, Deena Aziz, Laurence Hamelin, Scott Speedman Of course you want a horror movie to be a good film, but there’s no denying that this genre can get away with a lot; mask bad performances with intense suspense or fill in plot holes using bloody good fun. However, when you’re an all-around failure like The Moth Diaries, there’s no successful asset to use as a crutch, and the whole production suffers exponentially for it. The Moth Diaries Trailer. Mary Harron‘s The Moth Diaries (2011) movie trailer stars Lily Cole, Sarah Bolger, Scott Speedman, Anne Day-Jones, and Sarah Gadon. The Moth Diaries‘ plot synopsis: “Adolescence is and always will be a time of intense emotional confusion, especially if you spend it in a closed environment. That’s the case with Rebecca, a young girl haunted by her father’s suicide, who is a student at an exclusive female boarding school.
She pours her heart out in a diary, much of it focused on Lucy, her beloved roommate. Their relationship changes drastically with the arrival of a mysterious new student, Ernessa. As Lucy abandons her for this new girl, Rebecca becomes consumed with thoughts of jealousy and suspicion — Ernessa is dangerous, evil, a vampire. Is there any truth to all this or is Rebecca slipping into insanity?”

Arguably one of the most hotly anticipated TV shows approaching the horizon is HBO’s political TV movie Game Change, based on the book written by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann about the 2008 presidential elections. The show is set to star Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin, Woody Harrelson as Steve Schmidt and Ed Harris as Palin’s partner in failed candidacy, Senator John McCain.
And it is Harris’ transformation into the War Vet, and almost Die Hard name-a-like that has been released to the internet (via /film) to huge clamour – and rightly so, as if this isn’t one of the most impressive physical changes for a role you’ve ever seen, I’d be mightily surprised.
This image might be two weeks old now, but by God it looks impressive, so it deserves reposting here:

Click the above images for a good look at Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin and Ed Harris as John McCain in HBO’s Game Change. We had no idea they would be altering Harris so much to capture the look of McCain. It’s nuts. The movie is based on the juicy book of the same name by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann about McCain’s 2008 bid for the U.S. Presidency and his running mate, Palin.
We’re looking forward to the trailer to see if the acting matches the look. So far the cast also includes Melissa Farman as Bristol Palin, Woody Harrelson as Steve Schmidt, McCain’s senior campaign strategist and advisor and Ron Livingston as senior campaign advisor Mark Wallace.

The first look at Ed Harris as John McCain in "Game Change" has been debuted via Entertainment Weekly. Wearing a suit and sporting white hair-do, the "Gone Baby Gone" actor makes a convincing impersonation of the former presidential candidate.
Previously, HBO has debuted a photo of Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin in the TV movie. The 50-year-old actress wears the trademark eyeglasses and the hair-do to resemble the former Alaska Governor and vice presidential candidate.
Based on John Heilemann and Mark Halperin's bestselling book of the same name, "Game Change" will revolve around McCain's 2008 presidential campaign, from his controversial selection of Palin as his running mate to their ultimate defeat in the general election.
Serving behind the lens is Jay Roach with the script provided by Danny Strong. The two have collaborated for HBO's Emmy-winning film "Recount". Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, meanwhile, are serving as executive producers.

Here is our first look at Ed Harris as John McCain in the new HBO film Game Change. A photo of Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin was released earlier, we have that below as well. I think that Harris and Moore look very convincing in costume. Let's see if the same is true when we see a trailer for the film. The cast also includes, Ron Livingston, Woody Harrelson, Sarah Paulson, and Melissa Farman.

Today has been a good day for politics as Donald Trump announced that he'd stick with what he knows -- business and insipid TV -- rather than leap feet-first into the political arena. It isn't quite as good a day for entertainment that leapfrogs off of politics, but here's one fairly entertaining thing: a new image from the HBO film Game Change. There has already been one photo of Julianne Moore released in her stage guise as Sarah Palin, and now here's a shot of Ed Harris making a pretty convincing impersonation of John McCain. We'll have to wait for a trailer to see if either portrayal goes deeper than superficial artifice, but I like how Ed Harris looks in this pic. It's creepy, yeah, but I like it. (Ignore the criticism implied by the photshop header above; I just couldn't resist.) See a larger version after the break. EW [1] presented this photo,...

Am I dreaming, or is this really Julianne Moore? I mean, look at her, she looks exactly like Sarah Palin!
Ok, you already know that we’re talking about the upcoming HBO movie titled Game Change, directed by Jay Roach, and based on Mark Halperin and John Heilemann‘s 2010 bestseller of the same name, so please take a look at this photo and tell me, is this Julianne Palin or Sarah Moore?
Ok, enough joking, this is the real thing. Whoever thought that Moore is the perfect choice to play Pallin on a big screen was damn right!
Production on Game Change started yesterday, and the whole thing is written by Danny Strong, while Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman are executive producers.
All eyes on Moore right now, but the rest of the cast also includes Ed Harris as John McCain, Woody Harrelson as Steve Schmidt, McCain’s senior, Melissa Farman as Bristol Palin,...

She might not be Tina Fey, but Julianne Moore can pull off a pretty good Sarah Palin. Looks wise, that is. The first image of Moore in her Palin costume was released today and I have to say the actress looks pretty good in that get-up. Game Change started filming today under the direction of Jay Roach (Meet the Parents, Recount).
Game Change follows Senator John McCain through his failed 2008 Republican presidential bid. Ed Harris will play McCain with Woody Harrelson as his senior advisor, Steve Schmidt. Rounding out the cast will be Melissa Farman as Bristol Palin, Larry Sullivan as Chris Edwards (Palin’s deputy chief of staff) and Jamey Sheridan as Mark Salter (McCain’s speechwriter).

Look, it's Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin ☛
I fear my immense warm love for Julianne colliding with my enormous cool hatred of Palin will cause inner tornadoes! Isn't that how it works? Or perhaps these two poles of feeling will just cancel each other out until I feel absolutely nothing while watching Game Change.
Sarah Palin has so many catch phrases and behavioral quirks that it's difficult to imagine someone portraying her without resorting to caricature mimicry but good luck, Julianne.
The cast for Game Change, which we had some fun casting ourselves, is coming together. Julianne's partner in endless Oscar losses Ed Harris, will lose the presidency with her as John McCain. But what about her kids? Relatively unknown Kevin Bigley will play Track and Melissa Farman (Temple Grandin) will play Bristol. The cast of HBO's movie "Game Change" has added one more key piece to its cast: Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol.
Bristol will be played by Melissa Farman, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Julianne Moore is playing Sarah Palin in the movie about the 2008 presidential campaign, and based on the first photo of Moore from the movie, the makeup, wardrobe and hair departments have done their job well.
"Game Change," based on John Heilemann and Mark Halperin's book, will also star Ed Harris as John McCain and Woody Harrelson as McCain's campaign adviser Steve Schmidt. The movie is being written by Danny Strong and directed by Jay Roach, who previously collaborated on HBO's "Recount."
Farman is maybe best-known for playing the young (and pregnant) Danielle Rousseau in several episodes of the time-tripping fifth season of "Lost." "Game Change" will be her second project with HBO; she also co-starred in "Temple Grandin" last year.

After a string of poorly reviewed "Violent Torpedo of Truth" performances, Charlie Sheen had no problems last night in Houston, with Chronicle critic Ken Hoffman calling Sheen "self-effacing, outrageous, filthy dirty and hilarious," and "had the wild crowd in his palms." Meanwhile, 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan is not amused, calling Sheen an "a**hole" and saying, "Charlie Sheen ain't funny to me. I think that's a train wreck and I feel bad for his two little kids because they're the bodies being pulled out of the train wreck.

That is downright spooky.
Production has started on the HBO film "Game Change," which follows Arizona U.S. Senator John McCain's 2008 run for president, from his selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate to their defeat at the hands of President Barack Obama. Ed Harris stars as McCain and Julianne Moore, as you can see above, is Palin.
The film is based on the bestselling novel of the same name and has Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman as executive producers. It also stars Woody Harrlson as Steven Schmidt, McCain's senior advisor, "CSI's" Larry Sullivan as Palin's deputy chief of staff Chris Edwards and "Temple Grandin's" Melissa Farman as Bristol, reports THR.
Are you excited for the film? We have to say, while we're slightly disappointed it's not Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin, we think Julianne Moore at least looks to be right on the money.

In casting the role of Bristol Palin, HBO has gone with a familiar face. Melissa Farman, who starred in the cable network's award-gobbling movie Temple Grandin with Claire Danes, has been cast as Sarah Palin's daughter in Game Change, Jay Roach's upcoming political drama about John McCain choosing Palin as his running mate for the 2008 presidential election. Farman may also be familiar to some from playing a young Rousseau—the one who was pregnant and full of hope—on Lost. Speaking of which, Bristol was memorably pregnant when her mom ran for vice president of the United States, so there's an acting requirement Farman will be repeating in Game Change. Julianne Moore is already...
