Before the David Tyree catch in Super Bowl Xlii and before Julian Edelman’s memorable grab in Super Bowl Li got their reputations as conceivably the two best catches in all of Super Bowl history, there was one other catch that would always and will always be mentioned in the pantheon of famous NFL post season plays. “The Catch” as it is called, was made when Joe Montana threw a prayer in the 1981 Nfc championship game to none other than Dwight Clark. With 58 seconds left in the game, San Francisco wide receiver Dwight Clark made a leaping grab in

The short story goes... During Super Bowl Xlii, played on February 3, 2008, at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, the New York Giants played the New England Patriots, who were undefeated going into the big game. With two minutes left in the game, just when it looked like Giants Quarterback Eli Manning would go down, he spotted David Tyree, the veteran special teams player, down the field, threw the ball deep, setting up one of the most memorable plays in football history - aka "The Greatest Catch Ever." Spike Lee teamed up with Espn to revisit the moment on film, in a short (just over 30-minute film) titled "The Greatest Catch Ever"...

It's deja vu all over again as a New York Giants wide receiver makes an outstanding catch to help win them the Super Bowl. It happened in 2008 with David Tyree. And now, in 2012, it's happened again with Mario Manningham. But which catch was best?
Let's review. With 3:45 left in Super Bowl Xlvi and the Giants down by two, New York needed to make their way out of the shadow of their own end zone. So Eli Manning uncorks a 38-yard pass to Manningham, who makes a nearly impossible catch. The Giants then proceed to drive down the field and score the game-winning touchdown against the New England Patriots.
Of course then there's the fabled "helmet catch" of Tyree in Super Bowl Xlii. The Giants were trailing the Patriots by four with 1:15 left to play. Manning escapes a near sack and throws the ball 32 yards to the outstretched arms of Tyree.

The Super Bowl teams have been decided. Early Sunday (Jan. 22), the New England Patriots defeated the Baltimore Ravens in a rather heartbreaking fashion for Ravens' fans (or just Pats haters, who number plenty too). Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff missed a 32-yard field goal at the end of the game that would have tied the score. But instead Tom Brady and his Patriots are headed to Super Bowl Xlvi.
In the late game, the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers took the game to overtime tied at a mere 17 points apiece. Halfway through the overtime period, the Giants won on a 31-yard field goal.
So the Harbaugh Super Bowl is not to be - brothers John Harbaugh (head coach of the Ravens) and Jim Harbaugh (head coach of the 49ers) will not be facing off in the championship.
Instead, it is a rematch of Super Bowl Xlii in 2008, where the...
