Exclusive: Sarah Dodge has joined Redefine Entertainment as a manager.

She joins the company with over 12 years of experience at Industry Entertainment. Before her career in management, she served as a development executive at Dimension Films. A graduate of Emerson College, Dodge began her career at The William Morris Agency and HBO.

Exclusive: Andrea Savage and Joey Slamon, the duo behind TruTV’s romantic comedy series I’m Sorry, are reteaming to write an untitled irreverent Sony feature comedy. Savage is looking to direct.

Pic follows two bridesmaids at destination wedding in a far-off overseas location who both hate their best friend’s fiancé. They make some questionable choices in the hopes of getting him out of the picture. The project is in early development.

Savage and Slamon show-ran three seasons of I’m Sorry before the series was preemptively shuttered mid-production due to Covid-19 and the Warner Bros mergers.

Savage’s acting credits include I’m Sorry, Tulsa King, Veep, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Look Both Ways. She has directed several episodes of I’m Sorry and she’s attached to direct and play a large supporting role in the action comedy, The Set Up, written by Kari Granlund which landed at Paramount Pictures last year.

Exclusive: Jaume Collet-Serra is back in business with Seven Bucks after Black Adam and Jungle Cruise, with the filmmaker set to direct Kate Warne for Amazon MGM and Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks. Emily Blunt is also producing, but with an eye to star. There is currently no acting deal in place, Deadline hears. Those conversations are expected to resume post-strike.

Collet-Serra is directing from script by Melissa Stack. Gustin Nash penned the first draft which is an action thriller built around Warne, a real-life Sherlock Holmes. Once upon a time, Disney had the market cornered on wholesome, pure-of-heart fairy tales — films like “Cinderella” and “Sleeping Beauty” featuring fairy godmothers and charming princes. But somewhere along the way, academics and feminists and a new generation of ironically inclined kiddos realized the underlying message of these films wasn’t so magical, teaching young girls to be little more than passive wives. The Mouse House (as Variety referred to the studio at the time) was slow to address its shortcomings, while others stepped in — from “Shrek” to “The Fairly OddParents” — to parody the formula and push its politics into the 21st century.

A glorified TV movie debuting straight to the Disney Plus streaming platform, “Godmothered” is meant to signal to the world that Disney is in on the joke, an acknowledgement that “happily ever after” doesn’t necessarily follow a fairy-tale wedding, but is in fact a sign of lazy storytelling.

In “Godmothered,” a young fairy-godmother-in-training travels to the modern human world to save her fairy-tale existence. If that plot reminds you of “Enchanted,” then that’s clearly what the folks at Disney+ had in mind, down to the casting of Isla Fisher; Fisher is a talented actress in her own right, but at least as far back as “Nocturnal Animals,” she also seems to be in on the joke that Hollywood thinks of her as The Other Amy Adams.

For the most part, “Godmothered” is a mixed-bag of clever comedy and banal kid-movie clichés, but director Sharon Maguire (“Bridget Jones’ Baby”) and writers Kari Granlund (2019’s “Lady and the Tramp”) and Melissa Stack (“The Other Woman”) craft an ending that’s so emotionally and intellectually satisfying that it’s easy to forgive the film’s less magical attributes.

There’s no lack of talent on display in Disney+’s latest original feature “Godmothered,” a film built around the charming duo of Isla Fisher and Jillian Bell (already solid casting) that also has the space to include gems like Jane Curtin and June Squibb in roles so supporting that one of them spends most of her screen time cosplaying as the face of a clock. Other supporting roles are kitted out by talented kiddos like Jillian Shea Spaeder and Willa Skye or consistent comedic stars like Utkarsh Ambudkar and Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and the whole thing was cooked up by rising screenwriters Melissa Stack (the underappreciated “The Other Woman”) and Kari Granlund. Disney + Hotstar premium released the official trailer for the upcoming fantasy comedy 'Godmothered' on Thursday, featuring Isla Fisher as Mackenzie, a single mother, and reporter, alongside Jillian Bell as Eleanor, Mackenzie's fairy godmother.

The trailer shows Eleanor (Bell), who leaves her fantasy realm to travel to the human world after finding an old letter from a 10-year-old girl in distress. She tracks her down and discovers that the 10-year-old girl, Mackenzie, is now a grown adult woman (Fisher).

The official synopsis for 'Godmothered' is as follows: "Set at Christmas time, 'Godmothered' is a comedy about Eleanor, a young, inexperienced fairy godmother-in-training (Jillian Bell) who upon hearing that her chosen profession is facing extinction, decides to show the world that people still need fairy godmothers."

“Robin Hood” is getting the live-action, hybrid treatment at Disney+, which is developing a remake of the 1976 animated classic with “Blindspotting” director Carlos López Estrada at the helm.

Variety reported that the studio will bring Kari Granlund, who wrote Disney+’s live-action “Lady and the Tramp” launch film, to write the screenplay. Justin Springer, who produced Disney’s “Dumbo” remake, will produce the “Robin Hood” remake. Like Disney’s “The Jungle Book” and “Dumbo” reboots, the upcoming “Robin Hood” film will mix CGI with live-action. The deals closed in early March. Additional details, such as casting or a potential release date, are undetermined.

Disney is in early development on a remake of its 1973 animated musical comedy “Robin Hood” for Disney Plus.

“Blindspotting” director Carlos Lopez Estrada is on board to helm the movie. Kari Granlund, who wrote the script for 2019’s Disney Plus reboot of “Lady and the Tramp,” is attached to pen the new “Robin Hood.” Justin Springer, whose Disney credits include “Dumbo” and “Tron: Legacy,” is producing the pic.

The new version is being developed with the animals in a CGI/live-action hybrid format, similar to Disney remakes of “The Jungle Book” and “Dumbo.” The deals for Estrada and Granlund were signed early last month prior to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 1973 “Robin Hood” — produced and directed by Wolfgang Reitherman — was centered on the classic story of Robin Hood, Little John, Friar Tuck, Maid Marian and the Sheriff of Nottingham. Hood, portrayed as a fox, led the fight against Prince John’s excessive taxation.

Carlos Lopez Estrada, best known for directing 2018 crime movie “Blindspotting,” has been tapped to direct a remake of Disney’s 1973 animated “Robin Hood” for Disney+, TheWrap has confirmed.

Just in time for the holidays is Disney+ original new movie Lady And The Tramp.

In Disney+’s “Lady and the Tramp,” life is good for Lady, an overachieving American Cocker Spaniel who resides in an upscale suburban neighborhood. Her owners, Jim Dear and Darling, spoil her daily and her neighbors, Jock, an outspoken Scottish Terrier and Trusty, a world-weary Bloodhound, are always within barking distance. But when a baby enters the picture, Lady is no longer the center of attention, and the arrival of cat-loving Aunt Sarah only complicates matters. Lady soon finds herself alone on the streets in an unwelcoming part of town. Fortunately, Tramp steps in, and the streetwise mongrel is quick to teach her the ways of the world. Before long, the prim and proper purebred and the fast-talking mutt are partaking in moonlight strolls in the park and romantic spaghetti dinners by candlelight.

, Charlie Bean’s new “Lady and the Tramp” is the perfect movie to kick off the next phase of the streaming wars: It’s new but familiar, safe but unsound, and somehow well-furnished but also cheap-looking. Most of all, it clearly only exists because an entertainment conglomerate felt compelled to build a platform before it had enough material to support it — because the tail is wagging the dog.

The good news is that “The Lion King,” “The Jungle Book,” and the rest of Disney’s technology-driven remakes have conditioned us to be grateful for small favors, and most viewers will probably salivate at the mere sight of real animals. And while the decision to digitally move the dogs’ snouts when they speak English to each other is almost off-putting enough to negate the effect altogether, fur-and-blood puppies aren’t the only pleasantly old-fashioned thing about this “Lady and the Tramp.

In the age of streaming media, what’s the contemporary answer to the cheap, disposable, direct-to-video Disney sequels that used to clog up VHS shelves in decades of yore? The answer may look something like “Lady and the Tramp,” the latest of many nominal “live-action” remakes of beloved titles from the studio’s animated canon — but the first to bypass theaters, bowing directly on the company’s glossy new Disney+ VOD platform. The difference is felt, which is not to say this largely conservative update of the 1955 puppy-love romp is appreciably worse than its big-screen 2019 predecessors. It’s as creatively anemic and blandly calculated as, say, this summer’s billion-grossing “The Lion King,” with which it also shares some hinky technical issues: Suffice it to say that even on a smaller screen, attributing anthropomorphic qualities to photoreal critters remains a Disney stumbling block.

Say what you will about director Charlie Bean’s new “Lady and the Tramp,” but it stands out from the rest of the recent Disney live-action remakes. This isn’t a film that’s been remade to dazzle audiences with big-budget fantasy spectacle. It’s just a story about two dogs who fall in love in backyards and alleyways.

This new “Lady” was probably never going to break box-office records, yet it’s too iconic to go straight to video with the implication that it’s the runt of the Disney live-action remake litter.

So it makes sense that “Lady and the Tramp” will instead debut on the new streaming service Disney+, where its pedigree looks impressive while audience expectations can still be a little more modest than if a hundred dollars had just been plunked down for a whole family’s worth of tickets and a bunch of snacks.
