Sen. Elizabeth Warren said in a video released today that she stands “shoulder-to-shoulder” with IATSE members as they vote for a strike authorization, and that she is with them “all the way in this fight.”
“I’m glad to stand with @IATSE in their fight for a fair contract,” the Massachusetts Democrat said in an accompanying tweet (see it below). “Giant film and entertainment companies make billions of dollars in profits each year and the least they can do is ensure their workers have livable wages and reasonable work hours.”
Warren, who was one of more than 100 Democrats in the Senate and House of Representatives to sign off on a letter Thursday urging the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to negotiate a fair deal with the union, told viewers of her video that “The next time you watch a movie or a TV show, think about all the...

It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it! Senator Elizabeth Warren was busy this week fulfilling her duties for the country and couldn't hit the campaign trail in Iowa on Wednesday, but luckily she had a furry friend available to help her make the rounds. The event was supposed to be a meet and greet with her husband Bruce Mann, but it was her golden retriever Bailey Warren who got the most pictures taken from excited supporters. Many of who were clearly mesmerized by the adorable dog! Warren couldn't make the event herself on Wednesday, as she is currently off the campaign trail and in Washington for the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump. "As you can see, it...

Stx Entertainment, as has long been suggested would be the case, has filed for an Ipo on the Hong Kong stock exchange. If accepted, the proposal would make Bob Simonds’ burgeoning studio the first U.S.-based entertainment company to go public on the Hong Kong exchange.
The company was valued at $1.5B last year, however, it has been reported previously that the company could be valued as high as $3.5B after the Ipo. Since its inception, Stx has been modeling itself to become a major entertainment company along the lines of Viacom and this is yet another step in the path to achieve that goal.
Stx Entertainment CEO Simonds has been hinting that they might go public for some two and a half years now when China’s Tencent and Hong Kong telecom giant Pccw led an investment round in Stx with the specific aim of building a studio.

After 10 years with the company, Austar’s group director of corporate development Deanne Weir is to leave in the wake of the Austar merger with Foxtel.
Weir’s exit emerges the week after Xyz Networks CEO Bruce Mann and Nikki Warburton, Austar’s group director for product, sales and marketing, both announced their exits.
Weir told Mumbrella: “I’m very sad after ten years with Austar to say goodbye to a fantastic bunch of people. But the timing is right for me to explore new avenues. I wish them all the best.”
She added: “The new executive team has a good blend of Foxtel and Austar people, which Richard [Freudenstein, the CEO of Foxtel] will announce in due course.”
Weir is to take a break from the industry, but will continue to fulfill her commitments on the board of Screen Australia and Access Innovation Media.
She will leave Austar at the end of May.

Two key staff have stepped down after the Foxtel-Austar merger, which got the go-ahead earlier this month.
Xyz Networks CEO Bruce Mann and Nikki Warburton, Austar’s group director for product, sales and marketing have both announced their departures.
Xyz Networks was previously jointly owned by both Foxtel and Austar and required a mediating CEO between the two firms. As of 24 May, the brand will be wholly Foxtel’s.
Mann, who has been in the position for ten years, said: “Foxtel is rightly taking advantage of this opportunity to create a national Foxtel brand which will include both the Austar and Xyz Networks assets.”
On his tenure, Mann said: “I am pleased to be leaving XYZnetworks in great shape. Xyz is the jewel in the crown. Our financial performance is strong. We have developed a suite of themed channel brands that are the leaders in their genres. And we have...
