Ivan Koloff, knowing among wrestling fans as “The Russian Bear,” has died. He was 74.
Koloff had been battling liver cancer and was in need of “urgent medical care,” according to a Go Fund Me page set up by his daughter, Rachel Marley, on Feb. 2.
“My dad was diagnosed with liver disease about 10 years ago and while he has been living with it, he chose not to make this announcement public to his fans and friends,” she wrote. “But doctors are now saying that his liver function is getting worse day by day and it will continue to. There are no...

WWE had an idea to book Brock Lesnar as a gay babyface in 2002, the wrestling observer newsletter reports.
The idea came from two WWE magazine writers, one of them Brian Solomon. They pitched to Stephanie McMahon the notion of a wrestling character that was an unstoppable and masculine hero, who later revealed himself to be gay. It would be a mega babyface hero, breaking down the negative stereotypes of homosexuality that previously existed in the pro wrestling business.
Another reason for doing it was the support that WWE would’ve got from the gay community and mainstream media. It was a progressive character and something never done before. However, there would ultimately have been the problem that Lesnar wasn’t gay. It may not have looked so good to the media or gay community.
It is also worth pointing out that Lesnar once told Espn that he didn’t like gays.

Miguel Rodriguez talks about his Horrible Imaginings, Horrible Imaginings film festival that is.
I have been following Monster Island Resort podcast from the beginning. It is hosted by self-proclaimed, horror enthusiast Miguel Rodriguez. The podcast itself is great, well done and very smart. It is all across the board as far as horror goes, but don't worry, he is a zombie fan though and though. Miguel Rodriguez seems to not be complacent with just being a podcaster though, he has decided to host his very own movie festival called Horrible Imaginings. I have to say that I am impressed, so I talked to Miguel Rodriguez about his new endeavor and this is what he had to say,
Haz: Tell us a little about yourself, what was your drive to start the Horrible Imaginings film festival in San Diego? I'm sure you must be excited.
Mr: My name is Miguel Rodriguez,...

A special thanks to this week’s guest columnist: Brian Solomon
I’d like to thank Missy Yearian and Will Melton for inviting me to take part in The Hump Day Threesome here in Fused Film’s Unhinged—and as the first guest contributor, no less. I’d like to, but I’m afraid that what I have to contribute might be construed not as thanks, but instead as some passive-aggressive form of contempt.
Because on this day, in response to their invitation, I’m introducing them, and you perchance, to some pretty bad movies. Not just any bad movies, mind you, but a trio of movies from the Mediterranean–the veritable Fertile Crescent of crap cinema if ever there was one. So strap in and join me in my gondola of god-awfulness as I take you on a romantic journey through the bacteria-ridden waters of high schlock.

Fascination with Fear is a blog by Christine Hadden, who was interviewed at Fatally-Yours.com about being a woman in horror for, well, Women in Horror month. Hadden was one of the entrants into a contest a few months back called the Miss Horror Blogger Contest to which we objected slightly for a few minor reasons: 1) The women had to submit pictures of themselves in order to be rated on their writing ability and 2) It pitted women against each other for a made-up award that was basically a popularity contest won by having your friends vote for you. It wasn't a contest that really measured anyone's talents...
In her interview today Hadden refers to our dislike of the contest by saying, "When Brian Solomon of The Vault of Horror hosted the Ms. Horror Blogosphere contest in November, it stirred up a lot of controversy. A few men were no doubt...

In a truly nauseating attempt at attention grabbing and women-judging, a blog called The Vault of Horror has started something called the 2009 Ms. Horror Blogosphere Contest, which pits female horror bloggers against one another in a popularity voting exploitationsplosion.
"The winner of the contest not only gets bragging rights and the right to display the nifty Ms. Horror Blogosphere 2009 on her site-she will also get to choose an honest-to-goodnes prize," claims Brian Solomon, who thought up the contest. Despite being a contest amongst bloggers, who are writers and journalists, each entry requires a photo of the lady and a bio. Which begs the question - why aren't they just being judged on the quality of their blog and writing? Answer: because it is never too late to judge women based on their looks...
