V/H/S
Review by Andrew MacArthur
Stars: Calvin Reeder, Joe Swanberg, Jas Sams | Directed by Ti West, Glenn McQuaid, Adam Wingard, David Bruckner, Joe Swanberg, Radio Silence
Found footage horror V/H/S has completely revitalised a played-out, repetitive style of filmmaking with six chilling anthology tales. Ti West (House of The Devil), Glenn McQuaid (I Sell The Dead) and Adam Wingard (A Horrible Way To Die) are just three of the directors to contribute to this chilling anthology.
V/H/S opens with a group of criminals assaulting young women and vandalising property. They are hired by an anonymous client to break into an abandoned house and obtain a mysterious video tape. The group begin to work their way through a series of terrifying tapes, each revealing a different short film. V/H/S manages to fuse so many horror sub-genres together in an innovative and chilling manner,...

Today a new promo poster for V/H/S, a horror anthology featuring horror shorts from directors Adam Wingard (A Horrible Way to Die), Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead), Radio Silence (a group of directors including Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, Justin Martinez, and Chad Villella), David Bruckner (The Signal), Joe Swanberg, and Ti West (The Innkeepers, The House of the Devil), has been released.
In the film a group of criminals are hired to break into a country home and retrieve a mysterious video tape. Every tape that they watch is more evil and sinister than the one before. The found footage style shows well so far in the V/H/S trailer. It sounded like a simple job but upon entering the house, they find a rotting corpse next to the huge assortment of scary videos. You have to see the trailer as it may be the scariest trailer of 2012 so far.

Directed by: Adam Wingard, David Bruckner, Ti West, Glenn McQuaid, Joe Swanberg, Radio Silence. Writers: Simon Barrett, David Bruckner, Nicholas Tecosky, Ti West, Glenn McQuaid, Simon Barrett, Joe Swanberg, and Radio Silence. Cast: Calvin Reeder, Helen Rogers, Sophia Takal, Hannah Fierman, Jason Yachanin, Lane Hughes, Mike Donlan, Joe Sykes, Drew Sawyer, Jas Sams, Joe Swanberg, Kate Lyn Sheil, and Drew Moerlein. Tagline: "This collection is killer." V/H/S is the latest production to be distributed by The Collective. This is a distribution company that has brought horror film fans Atrocious (2010) and The Woman (2011). Their latest is a found footage horror anthology composed of six short films. Chillerama (2011) is another memorable horror anthology that focused on sexual humour. Here, the film focuses more on extreme horror. There is a lot of gore in this piece, nudity and even some comedy. And like most anthologies, some of the shorts work, while others simply.

Watch the red band trailer for V/H/S starring Calvin Reeder and Lane Hughes The film tells of a group of petty criminals who are hired by a mysterious party to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere, and soon realize that the job isn’t going to be as easy as they thought. In the living room, a lifeless body holds court before a hub of old television sets, surrounded by stacks upon stacks of VHS tapes. As they search for the right one, they are treated to a seemingly endless number of horrifying videos, each stranger than the last. V/H/S has been highly praised and lots of talk of the film being a hit but something was missing until today, a trailer. Check out the trailer for V/H/S below and let us know what you think. V/H/S screened at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival to positive reception, and given the talent affixed to this project, that really comes as no surprise. Directorial credits are lengthy, and boast the likes of Adam Wingard (You're Next), Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead), Radio Silence, David Bruckner (The Signal), Joe Swanberg (Autoerotic), and Ti West (The House of the Devil). Calvin Reeder (The Oregonian), Lane Hughes (A Horrible Way to Die), Adam Wingard, Hannah Fierman (The Vampire Diaries), Mike Donlan, Joe Sykes and Jas Sams star.
