I love heist movies, and over the past few years there have been some great indie-comedy heist movies: films like Flypaper, How to Rob a Bank, The Maiden Heist and Blue Iguana. What do they have in common? Well they all successfully balance quirky, offbeat comedy with traditional “heist-film” storytelling. They also all feature a cool and charismatic cast. None of which applies to The Devil’s Heist… well this is partly a comedy; insomuch as its absolutely hilarious anyone would pay to distribute this pile of dross!
The film tells the story of Ted, an ex-con who – along with his old partner and his girlfriend – rob a bank. But not just any bank.

"Nightmarish on every level." If you already hate carnivals, you might want to stay away from this. Saban Films has released a second trailer for Rob Zombie's latest horror feature, titled 31, about an evil carnival, twisted game. Five carnival workers are kidnapped and held hostage in a "Hell-like" compound where they must survive for 12 hours against a gang of sadistic clowns to escape alive. Starring Sheri Moon Zombie (of course), Malcolm McDowell, Richard Brake, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Torsten Voges, Sandra Rosko, and Meg Foster. I can't even tell what's going on in half of this trailer, way too many close-ups and it's over-edited. But if you dig Zombie's messed up horror flicks, then have at it. Here's the second official trailer (+ poster) for Rob Zombie's latest film 31, direct from YouTube: You can also still watch the first trailer for Rob Zombie's 31 here, for even more footage from this.

If summer movie season has you feeling burnt out, fear not, the promising fall slate is shaping up. The first confirmed festival premiere comes from the 73rd Venice International Film Festival as they’ve announced their opening night film: Damien Chazelle‘s highly-anticipated Whiplash follow-up La La Land. Led by Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, it will be the rare opener that actually plays in competition ahead of a release on December 2nd.
“La La Land is a surprising tribute to the golden age of American musicals, from An American in Paris by Vincent Minnelli to New York, New York by Martin Scorsese,” festival director Alberto Barbera says. “It is a film that does not merely reinvent the musical genre, it gives it a brand new start. If Whiplash was the revelation of a new filmmaker, La La Land is his definitive, albeit precocious, consecration among the great directors of Hollywood’s new firmament.

"All you have to do is survive 12 hours of our own private hell." Saban Films has debuted a trailer for Rob Zombie's latest horror film 31, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The plot involves five carnival workers who are kidnapped and held hostage in an "abandoned, Hell-like compound where they are forced to participate in a violent game, the goal of which is to survive twelve hours against a gang of sadistic clowns." Starring Sheri Moon Zombie (but of course), Malcolm McDowell, Richard Brake, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Torsten Voges, Sandra Rosko, and Meg Foster. This looks like Zombie's typical over-stylized mix of gore and weird, gross shit. Not my cup 'o tea.
