There’s no denying that “Patrick” is absolutely adorable. When a story revolves around a four-legged furry friend — a squishy, huggable pug, at that — that much is to be expected. However, what makes director Mandie Fletcher’s canine-centered romantic comedy work is its ability to engage in between the oh-so-cute closeups of the bug-eyed pup. Though the narrative tends to be a touch too simplistic for most grown-ups, and lacks enough riotous dog action for the little ones, there’s enough bite to make things worthwhile for those who just want to enjoy a sweet, wholesome dog movie.

One thing that marked the movies of the 1980′s more than anything else was the amazing soundtracks. The 80′s saw an explosion in licensed music in movies, and led to many bands finding success in the Us, where previously they’d been struggling. In honour of the great movie soundtracks of the decade, here’s my rundown of the ten best Under Rated Movie Songs of the 80′s:
10. Joe Esposito – You’re the Best Around from The Karate Kid:
9. Kenny Loggins – I’m Free (Heaven Helps The Man) from Footloose:
8. Tim Feehan – Where’s the Fire from The Wraith:
7. Stephanie Mills – Bit by Bit from Fletch:

Brad Pitt is hoping to transform the story of the 33 trapped Chilean miners into a big-screen epic - staff at his production company are in talks to land the film rights of the men's amazing survival. After two months trapped underground following the collapse of a tunnel, all the miners emerged relatively unscathed following a dramatic 24 hour televised rescue last month. Only one man had lung problems despite the miners being locked away in a dusty vault for so long.
And after the event hit headlines across the globe, Pitt is eager to get his hands on the film rights, and officials at his Plan B Entertainment Company are in negotiations with representatives for the miners to get the go-ahead for the movie project, according to the Associated Press.
Beside inspiring movimakers to make a big-screen adaptation, the story of Chilean miners has also made singer Amy Macdonald to write a song.

I find that there is a lack of male singer-songwriters these days. In the last two-three years, so many new female solo artists like Amy Winehouse, Katy Perry, Sara Bareilles, Adele and Amy Macdonald have made their presence felt. The male artists seem to be happy being the one-odd hit wonder. Drake, Taio Cruz, Adam Lambert, Sean Kingston, BoB, are all within the genre specific pop space. And please don’t even mention Justin Bieber! In my opinion, John Mayer is probably been the only male pop artist who writes and produces his own music that is more song-oriented. Yes there ...

Scottish singer Amy Macdonald was so moved by the rescue of 33 trapped Chilean miners this week, she started work on a song inspired by their plight. The "This Is the Life" hitmaker spent a marathon 24 hours in front of her TV set as she watched the miners' dramatic rescue after they spent two months buried underground following a tunnel collapse.
Macdonald reveals the footage moved her to tears and inspired her to write a new track. She says, "I watched the whole thing all the way through, from start to finish. I just found it so moving. I cried 33 times, once for each one as they came out. It was so inspiring for me. I have half-written a little song based on their plight. It is just a verse and a chorus so far... Scottish singer Amy Macdonald is enduring the anguish of long-distance love - her soccer player boyfriend has been forced to move out of their shared home and relocate to England for his career. The "This Is the Life" hitmaker is currently engaged to sports star Stevie Lovell, who was playing for Scottish side Partick Thistle until last year.
Last month, he signed a contract with A.F.C. Bournemouth, who are based on the south coast of England - a trip of almost almost 400 miles. The move means singer/songwriter MacDonald is struggling to spend time with her man, even when she is not on tour.
She tells Scotland's Daily Record, "It's a bit of a nightmare at the moment but once he finishes pre-season training and my tour ends, we'll be able to see each other for a few days... It's not an issue. We knew this would happen.

Irish boyband Boyzone have topped the U.K. charts with the group's first album since bandmember Stephen Gately's death in October 2009. The singers vowed to continue performing together, and released new record "Brother" in memory of the tragic 33-year-old, who passed away from natural causes at his home in Majorca, Spain.

The musical capital of the world? It's not even close in my mind.
Glasvegas, who are Glasgow natives (see Camera Obscura, The Twilight Sad, Frightened Rabbit, Lloyd Cole, Teenage Fanclub, Belle and Sebastian, Paolo Nutini, Amy MacDonald, Mogwai, Franz Ferdinand and a host of others who have considerably brightened the musical landscape over the past ten years), have released a very, very fine self-titled debut album.
NME has dubbed them "the best new band in Britain," which is usually a sure sign of the Hype Machine in Overdrive. But this time they could be right. This is a surprisingly bracing combination of Jesus and Mary Chain guitar buzz, Proclaimers vocal bluster (complete with sometimes almost impenetrable Scots brogue), and, incredibly, impossibly, romantic '50s doo-wop. Scottish singer Amy Macdonald has snubbed the chance to move to London and further her music career - because she fears following in the footsteps of troubled singer Amy Winehouse.
The 20-year-old claims London offers a darker side to the music industry and is happy to avoid a life of drugs by staying in Glasgow.
She says, "I lead a very normal like in Glasgow. I don't have to face the seedier side of the record industry (in Scotland).
"I've never been offered drugs because I don't hang out in those circles.
"I feel sorry for Amy Winehouse. Hopefully things are starting to look up for her now. It's a stressful industry and when you are being offered drugs all of the time, I can see why some people are tempted by them."...
