Devdas is a well known and classic love triangle written by Bengali writer Sarat Chandra Chatterjee. It’s been adapted and made into 13 different iterations, which while being faithful to the story, have been done in 5 of India’s major languages both in the original time period as well as fitting in with the times. The main character Dev has been done by Dilip Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan and supported by so many famous actresses that it is hard to list. It has been directed by greats like Bimal Roy and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Since 2010 however, Devdas has been re-interpreted into a few new and different guises including Dev.D and Dev Dd. Sudhir Mishra takes his version of Devdas down this line by flipping it on its head as Daas Dev, releasing in cinemas 27th April. Starring Rahul Bhat as Dev, the key roles of Paro and Chandani (i.

Set to release on December 18th, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, starring Ranveer Singh, tells the story of Bajirao, one of history’s greatest unsung heroes; a Maratha Peshwa who rewrote the true essence of love and fearlessly protected his kingdom for over 47 long wars. It is an epic tale and the love story of a warrior that also stars Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.
Not only has Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed Bajirao Mastani, he has also composed the music for the historical saga that is being called his magnum opus. I loved Slb’s music for Guzaarish and looked forward to hearing what he would create for this epic film. After talking with lyricists Prashant Ingole and Siddharth and Garima I was even more excited to get lost into the musical story of Bajirao Mastani. So does the soundtrack transport you to the time, the place and the feeling of Bajirao’s world?...

The year in song in 2013 certainly was a treat for Hindi music fans. With songs ranging to straight-up classical influences, to songs with a Southern tinge plus the new grooves that hit high notes of hard rock, dub step, hip-hop, and punk-rock there was something for everyone. 2013 had some wonderful musical moments and they were not all on the big screen. This year we thought we would change it up a bit and not only highlight the best songs of the movies, we also wanted to shine the light on some of the brilliant performances that took place on MTV’s Coke Studio and MTV Unplugged. So take a dekho at our list of the 50 best songs of 2013.

Rush is an upcoming film which will see Emraan Hashmi, Neha Dhupia, Sagarika Ghatge and Aditya Pancholi in the leading roles. It is a thriller based on a news reporter who is dragged into a world of violence and dangers after accepting an assignment from a big media tycoon. Directed by the late Shamin Desai, the film is scheduled to release in cinemas on 24 October 2012.
The music has been composed by Pritam Chakraborty. He has recently given us some memorable soundtracks which include Cocktail (2012) and Barfi! (2012). The lyrics to the songs have mostly been written by Kumaar, with Ashish Pandit, Sayeed Quadri and Hard Kaur appearing as guest lyricists.
The first track in the album is Chup Chup Ke. There are two versions of this song, with the music remaining unaltered. The first version has the great Ash King headlining the song, whilst the second version is headlined by the very talented Shaan.

CHENNAI, India -- "In the Name of God" ("Khuda Kay Liye") is the first Pakistani film to be released in India since 1965, when war between the neighbors led to a ban on exchange of cinema. With 100 prints in India, compared to 20 across the border, the movie is part of a new agreement to show each other's films, a step that may revive the theater business in Pakistan, where Lahore was the center of sub-continental cinema before it shifted to Bombay post 1947.
The movie tells us that Islam is progressive, but the interpretation of its teachings are often twisted by fundamentalists. It has a lengthy scene where the only Indian actor in it, Naseeruddin Shah, playing an enlightened Moulana Wali, exposes myths about Islam. Not exactly festival material, it attracted good crowds in Pakistan, and decent audiences in the first few days in India.
Set in the U.S., Britain and Pakistan, the plot follows two musician-brothers. One is brainwashed into extremism; the other becomes a victim of this post 9/11 hysteria. Sarmad (Fawad Khan) drops music and marries Mary/Maryam (Iman Ali), a London-bred Pakistani girl, against her will on the radical instruction of Moulana Tahiri (Rasheed Naz). Liberal Mansoor (Shaan) is tortured as a suspect in the U.S., where he is learning music, while his new American bride, Janie Austin Marie Sayre), is left holding placards of plea.
Despite poor production values, too many artistic liberties and stilted acting that point to debuting director Shoaib Mansoor's weaknesses, the film may touch the heart. Meanwhile, some tunes are bound to haunt you long after the curtain comes down.
