WWE is once again making changes to its on-air commentary teams, Variety has learned exclusively.
Beginning Aug. 7, Michael Cole and Wade Barrett will serve as the commentators for “Monday Night Raw” on USA Network. This marks a return to “Raw” for Cole, who first appeared on the show in 1997 and has served as one of the key members of the broadcast desk for various stretches of time ever since.
It will be Barrett’s first time doing commentary for “Raw.” In addition to his in-ring career, Barrett was previously a commentator for WWE’s Nxt before moving to “Friday Night SmackDown” on Fox in late 2022.
Cole will also remain on the commentary team for “SmackDown,” where he will be joined by Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves beginning Aug. 11.

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly. This is the “season premiere” for Raw (though it’s never off TV), which means something of a reboot for the show… so let’s see what went down this week!
Match #1: Johnny Gargano def. Austin Theory The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In the height of a hard-fought, deeply personal matchup against Austin Theory, Johnny Gargano delivered an earth-shattering kick to the youngest Mr. Money in the Bank in WWE history to knock his opponent outside the ring. Then, after charging through the ropes to to follow up with another Ddt onto the ringside floor, Gargano hit one final Ddt in the ring for the three-count.
My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #2: Rey Mysterio def. Chad Gable The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Although Rey Mysterio reigned supreme against...

Geek Culture is both spontaneously youthful and historically well heeled. New brands emerge frequently, like Boom! Studios Lumberjanes and The Backstagers, just written up in the New York Times. But brands like Batman and Captain America are more than 75 years old and provide a rich history for storytellers and collectors alike.
In this, my second of three articles exploring Geek Culture’s fascination with The Phantom, an 80 year old brand, I’m taking our conversation to Ireland.
Eoin McAuley is an ambitious professional who helped launch the Dublin Comic Con. And this year, there’s a charity overlay at this convention spotlighting The Phantom. Here’s my recent interview with Eoin.
Ed Catto: I’m anxious to hear about the Dublin Comic Con, Eoin. Can you please tell me about your convention?

Tweets in Basque? Tweets in Polynesian? Tweets in Navajo? An ambitious new project is collecting tweets from indigenous languages around the world.
Twitter's robust community of non-English speakers just got another boost with the launch of a new site called Indigenous Tweets. The site, created by St. Louis-based computational linguistics professor Kevin Patrick Scannell, collects tweets from more than 70 languages. These range from better-known tongues such as Haitian Creole and Basque to the downright esoteric Gamilaraay, an Australian indigenous language with approximately three living speakers.
Indigenous Tweets launched in March 2011, following a linguistic survey of Twitter conducted by Scannell that found almost 500 languages being used on Twitter. Collection of the tweets is based on a customized database of words and phrases across languages that attempts to create lists of which users tweet in what languages. Twitter's Api is then used for a data-scraping project that attempts to collect user information...
