Ktla Anchor Chris Burrous Death Ruled Accidental By County Coroner
Updated with cause of death: Ktla anchor Chris Burrous’s death has been ruled accidental, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.

Burrous died on Dec. 27 from what the coroner called methamphetamine toxicity, authorities said today. Other contributing factors in Burrous’ death included hypertension and heart disease.

Burrous is survived by his wife Mai and 9-year-old daughter Isabella.

Earlier: Ktla Morning News reporter and weekend anchor Chris Burrous died Thursday after being found unconscious at a Glendale motel. His death is being investigated as a possible overdose, police said. He was 43.

Ktla Anchor Chris Burrous’ Cause of Death Released
An investigative report on Ktla anchor Chris Burrous has determined that his cause of death was attributed to methamphetamine toxicity, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. Burrous, 43, was found unconscious at a motel in Glendale, Calif on December 27, and later died at the hospital. The death has been ruled as accidental.

The coroner’s report said that in addition to the Class A drug, “Other contributing factors include hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.”

Glendale police were contacted by a man who told them “an individual he was with had passed out and was possibly not breathing.” The man he was with administered CPR before Burrous was taken to the hospital. The medical emergency occurred during a sexual encounter, the report specified. It went on to explain that Burrous had met up through the Grindr app with a male companion, with whom he had met four times previously.

The death of Chris Burrous, the co-anchor of Los Angeles’ “Ktla 5 Morning News,” has left both fans and co-workers stunned and saddened on Friday, with many of them sharing memories of the 43-year-old newsman on social media.

Meteorologist Liberte Chan called Burrous a “master of live television” during her appearance on Ktla’s morning show on Friday.

“I miss him so much,” Chan said. “I’m sorry I don’t have the words to express exactly how I feel but he was more than just a colleague, he was one of my best friends here and I’m just so heartbroken over the loss of him.”

Ktla anchors and reporters are sharing heartfelt tributes to Chris Burrous, Ktla 5’s Morning News reporter and anchor who died Thursday at 43.

This term pretty much disappeared when everyone with WiFi and a WordPress blog site considered themselves a communicator. The term is “citizen journalist,” and that’s what Chris Burrous was, and that’s why he will be missed.

Chris was the weekend anchor at Ktla, a Los Angeles-based TV station whose morning news became a juggernaut in content delivery. Update December 28, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. Pt: Bre Payton died Friday at age 26, according to a tweet from her friend Morgan Murtaugh

Bre Payton, a staff writer at The Federalist, was found unconscious in her room Thursday morning and is currently in critical condition at a San Diego, California, hospital.

Payton, 26, was discovered by her friend Morgan Murtaugh, who first reported the news on Twitter Friday morning.

“24 hours ago I found my friend unconscious and called 911,” Murtaugh said. “She’s been in a coma since and really needs a miracle right now. Please, if you’re religious at all, send prayers this way. We really need them.”

KTLA Anchor Chris Burrous Dies After Being Found Unconscious at Glendale Motel

KTLA anchor Chris Burrous died Thursday afternoon after being found unconscious at a motel in Glendale, Calif. He was 43.

Burrous was found unresponsive by Glendale firefighters and died later at a hospital. Firefighters found him “suffering from a medical emergency” in a room at the Days Inn in downtown Glendale, according to the Glendale Police Department.

“The man was not breathing and CPR was administered as paramedics prepared to transport him to the hospital,” Glendale police said in a news release. Police were contacted by telephone at 1:14 p.m. by a man who told them “an individual he was with had passed out and was possibly not breathing.”

Police said the caller indicated that Burrous “had possibly overdosed.” No other information was disclosed about the caller or details of what was found at the scene. Police are awaiting a Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office report for a determination on the cause of death.

The PBS SoCal special “Variety Studio: Actors on Actors” is among the nominees for the 67th annual Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards.
