- As an award-winning producer / director / writer, Gordon Main has made over 40 TV documentary programmes in various genres over the last 8 years for his own production company Barefoot Rascals Ltd. These programmes are distributed internationally and have sold all over the world.
He wrote' produced and directed a handful of dramas before that, all centered on social issues. Having trained with Augusto Boal, Adrian Jackson and Theatre Fforwm Cymru, Gordon specialised in using Theatre of the Oppressed techniques to create story lines for these films. He often worked for several months within the communities where the story takes place to both win trust, hear stories and then set up workshops with local people affected by the key issues in the film. From these workshops which he would often draw up to half of his cast, combining them on screen with professional actors.
He has worked as a producer director for hire on many TV documentary productions - including BBC's Natural World where he directed and filmed on location in Guatemala.
He set up and ran an investigative online regional news organisation PembrokeshireTV - one of his stories lead to a case involving Exxon Mobil being taken all the way through the courts to the House of Lords over safety failures and triggering an investigation by the European Parliament.
He has also worked as cameraman and editor, self-shooting broadcast journalist, journalist and photographer.
His early training was as assistant director on countless pop promos, and assistant editor on TV documentaries and dramas - including a particularly inspiring and educational spell as an assistant editor of two of Paul Greengrass' TV films for London weekend Television.
