Noah Lyles might be one of the nation’s fastest athletes, but there’s one thing he was falling behind on: managing his social-media profile.
The Olympic runner knows how important it is for fans to see clips of him in action, particularly with the Paris Games about a year or so away. But securing rights to video footage and putting it up in an intelligent way across different digital venues can be difficult, he says. “That can be very stressful, and take away from the ability to perform.”
NBCUniversal wants to offer athletes some assistance. The media company is launching a new production effort called Fortius that aims to help Olympic athletes burnish their brands in the months leading up to the next Games. The company has many reasons to do so. NBCU and its parent, Comcast have invested heavily in U.S. rights to the Olympics broadcasts, having...

It’s not even halfway through the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, but the storylines coming out of Japan have been shocking. Every morning, Americans wake up to another surprise victory — or a missed podium.
While gold medals were expected for Carissa Moore in surfing and USA in 3×3 women’s basketball, victories for Keifer Lee in fencing and Anastasija Zolotic in taekwondo shone a spotlight on sports that barely find coverage in a normal Olympics. Not to mention that last-minute surge by Bobby Finke to win the gold in the 800-meter freestyle...

Hawaiian surfer Carissa Moore is the first woman to win gold in surfing at the Olympics. The 28-year-old U.S. athlete took home the top prize on July 27, edging out South Africa's Bianca Buitendag for the Olympic gold medal. The event lasted three days at Tsurigasaki Beach in Japan, about 40 miles from Tokyo, where the competitors faced rough waters due to Tropical Storm Nepartak. This is the first time that surfing has been included at the Summer Olympics. On the men's side, Brazilian surfer Italo Ferreira earned the gold medal. Moore broke down in tears on her surf board after the final buzzer sounded, and then blew a kiss to her fans at the shore,...

World Champion surfer Carissa Moore is an excited bride-to-be.

“We had been talking about it for a while, but he wanted to finish school first,” Moore tells People. “It was a surprise that day. He had my sister distract me the whole day, and he decorated the whole porch. It was really sweet.”
Because Moore starts a tour in March, she has been getting as much planning done as possible.
