At today’s ComicsPRO convention, DC illuminated the “Dawn of DC” timeline to reveal its Summer event, Knight Terrors, written by Joshua Williamson (Superman) with art by Howard Porter (The Flash), Guillem March (The Joker), and more.
Kicking off this July, Knight Terrors is a miniseries in which Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman find the body of one of their earliest enemies at the Hall of Justice. Their investigation takes them past the land of the living, beyond the land of the dead, into a realm of nightmares. The only way to save the world is to call for the help of an unlikely hero, Deadman.
“I love horror comics, and it’s been a blast bringing the energy to Dawn of DC. Knight Terrors showcases the horror side of our heroes as a brand-new villain confronts them with their worst nightmares,” said Joshua Williamson. “It’s a fun and...

This The Sandman review contains No Spoilers and is based on all 10 episodes of the first season of the show.
After decades of failed or blocked film adaptations of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, Netflix has finally broken through with a new 10-episode series, released on Aug. 5.
And it was all worth the wait. The Sandman is spectacular.
The series, adapted for television by Allan Heinberg, David Goyer, and Gaiman himself, follows Dream of the Endless as he is captured by a human warlock and held in captivity for 100 years. He escapes captivity and returns to his realm, The Dreaming, to rebuild and reorient himself, and that process leads to personal growth and deeper relationships with his subjects and his siblings.

Someone’s clearly flavour of the month right now. Moon Knight was always one of those second-tier characters with a small but loyal fan base. He’s proved a remarkably easy to use blank canvas of a character, going from Marvel’s Batman (still love those half-moon shurikens he throws) to the earthly servant of an Egyptian god. He’s been lucid, split personality, psychotic. A mercenary, a cab driver, a playboy. See what I mean? Writers love this guy, as he can fit whatever you want to do with him. This latest issue in the black, white and red series is a natural fit for him, allowing three separate creative teams their chance to give their own take on him, three good ones at that. Recent Sales Success
I had the recent fortune of some puzzle pieces all falling into place at the same time. It only resulted in me selling one comic but I think the turn of events involved was worth documenting. It all started the morning after the Superbowl. I had the day off as it was my birthday and I awoke to see the words Doctor Strange, Illuminati and Professor Xavier all trending online! Of course, the first thing I did was to watch the new trailer and like a lot of people I was blown away. I am really looking forward to this movie. It’s amazing to think how they are still trying and succeeding at keeping things fresh and exciting after Endgame. I slept on Spider-Man No Way Home and just never got around to seeing it. I enjoyed the first Doctor Strange movie and am looking forward...

Wolverine #9 Writer: Benjamin Percy | Artist: Adam Kubert | Colourist: Frank Martin | Letters: Cory Petit
I just had a big, stupid smile on my face as I read this from cover to cover! Outside of just being a fun read, this issue actaully moves the story in interesting ways from where we left off last month and it leaves you waiting for the next issue. In the previous issue I mentioned how Maverick was portrayed as a real badass. A character trait of his we haven’t seen too much of, especially in recent years. This issue sets it up as a plot point as to why he is this all new badass Maverick . Just as a little side note I continue to enjoy Wolverine’s commentary on how mutant affairs are shaping up on Krakoa. #9 only had 1 text piece which is an improvement on recent months. But I still didn’t bother to read it.

Usually, Peter Parker can't catch a break. Now it's more literal as he's set to star in a new series called Non-Stop Spider-Man.
Marvel never really needs an excuse to release another Spider-Man title. He’s their bread and butter. A lot of the time they can just do a regular Spider-Man series and just tack on a new adjective. Sometimes there will be a gimmick to it, like having him team up with other heroes, emphasis on his Avengers status, teaching at the X-Mansion, or having “mature” adventures that include the Absorbing Man turning into cocaine. But hey, he’s a great plug-and-play hero. You can have six Spider-Man titles a month if you force it enough.
Well, we’re getting another series and based purely on the creative team, it already sounds kickass. In June, we’re getting the first issue of Non-Stop Spider-Man, written...

Spider-Man is one of Marvel Comics’ most enduring heroes, first appearing in Amazing Fantasy #15 before going on to star in more than 800 issues of his own solo series across five volumes and almost six decades, the longest continuous tenure in the history of the company. Add to that the nearly one thousand issues of his Spectacular, Astonishing, Sensational and Unlimited variations, and it’s indisputable that Spider-Man is the most beloved resident of the House of Ideas.

Comics gave us everything we needed in 2019. The best ones surprised even us.
e stand at the end of a decade of massive change, and the comics industry is not immune to those shifts. There are more ways to read more comics about more things than ever before. That’s why the best comics of 2019 contains not one, but three Superman books.
I’m joking. There are only two textual Superman books, but they’re both wildly different, and they and the rest of the best comics of 2019 are a vastly different set than we would have seen even five years ago. There were some really great comics published this year, so even going to 20 won’t catch all of them. And, of course, I’m not independently wealthy or able to manipulate time, so I absolutely missed some great ones that you should feel comfortable yelling...

Normally, one would think of the Punisher as being the Marvel character who’s racked up the most “#1’s” in their publishing history, but there are others who’ve been giving Frank Castle a run for his money in that regard in recent years – and Deadpool has to be one of them.
Now, it’s important we don’t refer to the upcoming Deadpool #1 as a strict reboot – because it isn’t. If it were, than that’d mean the House of Ideas would be scrapping all previous continuity relating to the Merc with a Mouth, which they most certainly are not. Instead, they’re simply rolling back D. Piddy’s solo title to “#1” yet again. Think of it as a soft reboot, perhaps.
As you’d expect, the new status quo also comes with a fresh creative team. This time, readers will be greeted by writer Kelly Thompson and artist Chris Bachalo.

This is Death’s first appearance in non-comics media. I’m here because I’m looking backwards. Why else would any of us be reading the first collection of a nearly thirty-year-old comics series? [1]
I recently read the first collection of the current Shade the Changing Girl series, which reminded me of this Peter Milligan/Chris Bachalo/Mark Pennington version, which began in 1990 and ran through 1996, ending after 70 issues.
It was a fairly typical Vertigo series of the day, one of the many that followed Alan Moore’s template from Swamp Thing: start with a minor DC character, one as close to a joke as possible. Take him seriously, but not in comic-book terms — take him seriously in world-historical terms, bring in whatever other pop-culture or serious-culture material that energizes you and you can bolt onto it somehow. Run that character through horror plots, generally one or two issues long, each one encapsulating something frightening or appalling or norm-breaking.

Look, I don’t think I can describe it better than I did a couple of weeks ago when this book entered my house, so let me quote myself:
Twenty years or so ago, everything in corporate comics had to be an event. The Vertigo “line” at DC was actually a bunch of entirely separate comics with a rough shared audience and stance, but they had to have a big Event in their annuals (which they also had to have) in 1993. It was called The Children’s Crusade, and there were bookend standalone comics that the various individual comics’ annuals slotted in between, more or less. It was not the most successful experiment. After a couple of decades, though, someone at DC realized they had a couple of issues written or co-written by [Neil] Gaiman that were sitting uncollected and not making them any money. So they commissioned a new team...
