The streamer has announced that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is now available to watch on its platform. Released in 2024, the long-awaited sequel to Beetlejuice picks up roughly 30 years after the events of the original movie, with Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O'Hara reprising their roles as Beetlejuice, Lydia Deetz, and Delia Deetz, respectively. They are joined by Jenna Ortega as Astrid Deetz, Justin Theroux as Rory, Monica Bellucci as Delores, and Willem Dafoe as Wolf Jackson, among others.

You might not know that the Teen Titans debuted back in 1964, but the group has become popular only recently, thanks to some amazing comic book titles and the critically acclaimed animated series. We also had the goofy take on the group in Teen Titans Go!, which also became very popular.
The Teen Titans were supposed to join the Dceu at one point, and now that the Dcu has taken over, their inclusion also seems like a sure thing based on the teases we have. Plus, the fans want it, yes.
Now, WB’s Michael De Luca has teased that not one, but two Teen Titans projects are in the works, a live-action one and an animated one!

David Corenswet has been making waves in the industry ever since he was revealed as the new face of the next Superman. While high praise has been ample for him thanks to his convincing appearance as the different avatars of the Kryptonian superhero, i.e., Clark Kent and Superman, he has gotten as well in spades.
Although it isn’t the first time that an actor is facing huge backlash by the fandom before taking over the role of such a beloved character from their predecessor, the hate against Corenswet was definitely fueled by James Gunn’s drastic decision to replace Cavill with him as DC’s Man of Steel right after his takeover.
Interestingly, though, it seems like Warner Bros. executives had a firm belief in both the actor and the director even when it seemed like the world was going against them.

There's a lot of excitement and intrigue surrounding James Gunn's Superman, the movie that will launch DC Studios' Dcu. Fans remain eager for a new trailer (despite recently getting a 5-minute sneak peek and featurette), and it's rumoured to drop later this month.
DC Studios is separate from Warner Bros. in the same way that Marvel Studios largely stands apart from Disney. However, studio heads Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca still have their finger on the pulse, and told SmartLess hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes that they've seen an early cut of the reboot.
"I used to chase James as a producer when he did 'Slither' and started with his low-budget movies," Mike De Luca explained. "He’s really unique and I think DC is in great hands with the two of them."

Warner Bros. Studio heads Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca teased Monday that the early cut they have seen of James Gunn’s “Superman” relaunch assured them that the franchise is in good hands and is worth the wait.
Interviewing together on the “SmartLess” podcast with hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes on Monday’s episode, the longtime studio executives said that Gunn — previously of Marvel fame with “The Guardians of the Galaxy” trio of films — “really understood the assignment” when it came to relaunching a “new version of DC” and its most iconic character.

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners beats all odds to become a huge success in theaters, earning great reviews from critics. This blood-sucking vampire drama was different from the conventional storytelling in the genre. Out of all things that worked for the film, the chemistry between Michael B. Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld was a crucial element.
However, you wouldn’t view the romance the same after some disturbing stories from the film set. According to a TikToker who worked on the film, the scene where Steinfeld’s character spits into Jordan’s character’s mouth was shot without any CGI. Even worse, the TikToker revealed that there were multiple takes for the scene.

Superman is widely expected to become one of the biggest movies of the year when it flies into theaters this summer. However, a recent lawsuit put the film's release in select countries, including the United Kingdom and Canada, into question. Those are major markets where having a theatrcial run is vital to the Dcu project's box office prospects. Fortunately for Warner Bros., a judge has ruled in their favor and sealed the fate of James Gunn's DC superhero film.
As reported by Bloomberg, a federal judge has dismissed the case between Warner Bros. and Warren Peary, the nephew of Superman co-creator Joseph Shuster. The estate of the late Schuster alleged that the studio did not have the rights to release the film in select territories due to an apparent lack of foreign copyrights to the original comic book storyline. After industry estimates had the third weekend of “A Minecraft Movie” topping the critically acclaimed “Sinners” at the Easter box office on Saturday morning, the two Warner Bros. films have swapped places atop the box office charts as Ryan Coogler’s horror film is now estimated for a $45.6 million opening weekend.
Should this result hold, “Sinners” will pass the $44.3 million opening of Jordan Peele’s 2022 film “Nope” for the highest opening of an original film since the pandemic. Not only is that highly likely, it wouldn’t be surprising if the final weekend total for “Sinners” is higher than this current estimate given that it is enjoying some of the most spectacular critical and audience buzz given to any film in recent memory.
It starts with a straight A from opening night audiences on CinemaScore, the first given to a horror film since James Cameron’s “Aliens” in 1986. It then...

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, starring Michael B. Jordan, more than found redemption at the Easter weekend box office. Ditto for Warner Bros.
In a surprise upset, the movie beat fellow Warners blockbuster A Minecraft Movie and topped the chart with an estimated $45.6 million from 3,308 theaters, including Imax screens, well ahead of an expected $40 million. Based on Friday’s gross of $19.2 million, Sinners looked to open to the latter figure, but a spike in walk-up Saturday business changed the landscape.
Sinners achieved its victory after earning near-perfect reviews and stellar audience scores. Overseas, it started off with $15.4 million from select markets, for a global total of $61 million.
Not that Minecraft, now in its third weekend, is any slouch as it jumped the $700 million mark globally. Based on early weekend grosses, it appeared the record-breaking video game adaptation would stay No. 1 with $45 million. Instead, it’s on course to take in $41.3 million...

Ryan Googler’s critically acclaimed Sinners starring Michael B. Jordan bit off an impressive $4.7 million in Thursday previews as Easter weekend gets underway at the box office, where the period vampire pic will battle with A Minecraft Movie for top spoils. Speaking of the latter, Minecraft jumped the $300 million mark on Thursday domestically.
All eyes on are how Coogler’s Sinners performs, since the bold original pic was made entirely by Warner Bros. movie chiefs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy from start to finish.
Sinners has plenty of advantages as it arrives on the big screen. Reuniting Coogler with his go-to leading man Jordan, the R-rated movie boasts the best Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score of Coogler’s career with 97 percent.
Warners, trying to manage expectations, is targeting an opening in the $35 million to $40 million range for Sinners. There’s reason to be circumspect, considering the film is an R-rated,...

To Mike De Luca, James Gunn's Superman felt perfectly nostalgic.
"I love Superman. I think James Gunn has crushed it. It's got tons of his trademark heart and humor and the action is jaw dropping," the Warner Bros. Pictures co-ceo said during an extensive Deadline interview about the future of Warner Bros. Pictures' genre releases. Regarding the future of Superman, whose big-screen return will kick off the Dcu's live-action era under Gunn and Peter Safran, De Luca called his film "the Superman I grew up with, so I get choked up when I watch it. I think it's so epic and visually arresting and emotional. The performances are great. It is a five-star movie to me, and I can't wait for the world to see it. Yeah, we're really excited about Superman, James crushed it."

James Gunn's Superman will feature the debut of several popular DC characters, but one of which is someone that has not gotten a comic-accurate interpretation in decades. After making a head-scratching appearance as a CIA agent in Batman v. Superman, Jimmy Olsen is ready for his close-up on the big screen once again, this time front and center alongside his best friend, Clark Kent, who happens to be Superman. To celebrate Olsen's anniversary, Gunn released a new image from the highly-anticipated production, featuring Skyler Gisondo (The Righteous Gemstones) as the Daily Planet journalist.
Gunn shared on X a sneak peek at the set of Superman in the Daily Planet, which features the director presumably discussing a scene with Gisondo in his Jimmy Olsen get-up. After making several unnamed appearances in the comics in the late 1930s, Olsen made his official DC debut in The Adventures of Superman radio show on Apr.

Over the years, Jason Momoa has given many hits, playing some of the most iconic pop culture characters. He even delivered the only billion-dollar-grossing Dceu movie during his run as Aquaman. However, with his newly released A Minecraft Movie, Momoa achieved a greater box office feat by beating Avengers: Age of Ultron domestically.
A Minecraft Movie has received a mixed reception since its first teaser was released. Despite the skepticism and polarizing reviews, the Jack Black and Jason Momoa starrer turned out to be an excellent commercial success.

There are few things in life more painful than stepping back into an old job thinking you’re the chosen one, only to be booted out again before your coffee gets cold. Henry Cavill, Hollywood’s chiseled jawline and former cape-sporting savior of Metropolis, knows that pain all too well.
We’ve all been there, right? You get the call. “We need you back.” You dust off the suit. You cancel your Warhammer painting session. You even do a slow-mo walk with the sun behind you just to feel the vibe.
Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel | Credits: Warner Bros.
And then, plot twist. Someone else was already secretly being prepped to replace you, probably in a cooler cape. Ouch. Turns out, while Cavill was out here giving us surprise cameos and hopeful eyebrow raises, James Gunn was already tapping away on a brand-new Superman script. Behind the scenes.

Following a rather successful second outing last year, Warner Bros has given Beetlejuice 3 the go ahead.
After waiting several decades for a follow-up to 1988’s Beetlejuice, it looks like fans of the series won’t have to wait that long for the next one. Last year’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice made some serious bank for Warner Bros, and so it appears that a sequel has been quickly commissioned. The news comes via a Deadline interview with Warner Bros co-heads, Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, two executives who have had to weather plenty of speculation about their futures of late.
All of that noise doesn’t seem to have stopped them building up the studio’s future slate, though, and with A Minecraft Movie continuing to gobble up plenty of cash at the box office (it’s now north of half a billion dollars), they have a sizeable hit to point...

Much has been said about Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav's intention to replace current Warner Bros. Pictures heads Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, though the shock success of A Minecraft Movie may have bought the executives some time.
Regardless, Deadline recently spoke to them about the studio's future plans, including a Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sequel and new takes on The Matrix, Practical Magic, Gremlins, Goonies, and more. The DC brand also came up (despite DC Studios being separate from Warner Bros.), and De Luca shared high praise for James Gunn's Superman.

James Gunn has been putting in serious work to revamp the DC Universe, and the results are finally speaking for themselves. For a while, the DC fanbase, especially the fiercely loyal Henry Cavill supporters, weren’t exactly thrilled about the new direction. Losing Cavill as Superman left a Krypton-sized hole in their hearts, and they weren’t shy about letting Warner Bros. know it.
But tides are turning. With David Corenswet stepping into the cape and Gunn’s clear vision for Superman, even the most skeptical fans are starting to lean in. Early buzz around the project is strong, and it seems like Gunn is building a Superman story that respects the legacy while bringing in something fresh.

It is two years since Warner Bros’ Discovery boss David Zaslav made it clear that one big push he wanted to see happening at the studio is to draw out more content from some of their biggest IPs. Since then, a Harry Potter TV series has become a reality, a new Lord of the Rings movie is in development over a decade after the release of The Hobbit, and several other well-known properties are set for expansions. In a recent interview with Deadline, Warner Bros Pictures co-chairman/CEOs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy shared a little insight into some other projects on the horizon. De Luca shared:

Pictures co-chairmen and CEOs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy confirmed that a sequel is moving forward fast, following a $350 million haul after just one week of release.
“The ink might not be dry on the deals yet,” De Luca said, “but imminently.” That’s a clear signal that the studio is treating the pixelated mega-hit as a top-tier franchise play, right up there with its surprise Beetlejuice Beetlejuice revival. The film, directed by Jared Hess and starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, took a concept many thought was unfilmable and turned it into a blockbuster. After the surprise box office success of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Warner Bros. Pictures might just say the name a third time. May we suggest Threetlejuice? In an exclusive interview with Deadline, studio co-chairs and CEOs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy revealed that a third installment in Tim Burton’s iconic spooky franchise is already inching its way toward reality. The duo confirmed they are “imminently” developing sequels to both Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and A Minecraft Movie, which became two of 2025’s most unexpected—and lucrative—blockbusters.
“The ink might not be dry on the deals yet,” De Luca said, “but imminently,” suggesting both films are quickly becoming top-priority franchise plays for the studio. That would be big news on its own, but it comes in the context of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice massively overperforming expectations. More Beetlejuice is on the way! Warner Brothers co-chairman/CEOs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy have confirmed that development on Beetlejuice 3 will begin "imminently" as soon as the deals are finalized.
Chatting with Deadline, Abdy and De Luca discussed the recent hits and misses at Warner Bros., from successful box office hits like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Minecraft to misses like Joker 2.
Tim Burton returned to direct Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which also saw the return of Michael Keaton as the titular character, Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, and Catherine O'Hara as Delia Deetz. The sequel also featured several exciting new characters, such as Jenna Ortega as Lydia's daughter, Astrid, and Justin Theroux as Lydia's new boyfriend, Rory. Willem Dafoe, Burn Gorman, and Monica Belluci were also part of the 2024 film. It grossed over $451 million at the global box office, becoming one of last year's most profitable films.
Given that, it's not surprising that Warner Bros.

A Minecraft Movie continued a very popular trend of adapting video games to the small or big screen. Although the project, which had been long in development, came with initial reluctance from the critics and the industry, the adaptation proved to be a major hit.
A Minecraft Movie adapts the popular adventuring game of the same name, although the creators made sure to highlight that it's not the canon version. Instead, as its title suggests, the new movie tells one part of the bigger story created by Mojang Studios. In a new interview with Deadline, Warner Bros. co-chairmen and CEOs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy confirmed that there is a plan for A Minecraft Movie sequel.

Michael Giacchino's remake of Them! just got an infusion of star power behind the scenes. Matt Reeves, the director of the 2022 superhero blockbuster The Batman, is producing the giant creature feature for Warner Bros. WB Pictures studio heads Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy revealed the news in a new sweeping interview with Deadline.
De Luca and Abdy discussed a number of upcoming projects exploiting WB's massive IP library, including a new The Matrix film with Drew Goddard, a reimagining of The Bodyguard, and new Goonies and Gremlins projects from Chris Columbus. Reeves is a high-profile star in WB's stable, and is no stranger to giant creatures: he directed Cloverfieldin 2008, which saw a giant monster rampage through NewYork City. Many of his subsequent films have had beastly stars, as well: he helmed the vampire chiller Let Me In, and two installments of Fox's revitalized Planet of the Apes franchise.

Warner Bros. will always love you and is in the works to remake a romantic, box office ’90s hit. Warner Bros. Pictures will remake the 1992 film “The Bodyguard” starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, the studio’s film chiefs announced in an interview Friday.
“The Bodyguard” starred Costner as a former Secret Service agent as a man who takes a job protecting an R&b singer with a lifestyle far different than what he’s accustomed to and whom is being pursued by a stalker. The film was released at the height of Whitney Houston’s pop stardom and includes some of her classic hits including “I Will Always Love You,” and it also was nominated for two Oscars for Best Original Song. The film made $411 million worldwide, and Warner Bros. has even tried to remake the property before, including most recently in 2011.
Warner Bros. has already attached a director and writer to the project.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice was a big success for Warner Bros., grossing over $451 million worldwide. I’m pretty sure you know what that number means — sequel. While speaking with Deadline, Warner Bros. CEO’s Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy revealed that Beetlejuice 3 is in the works.
However, it’s not quite official just yet. “Imminently,” De Luca said. “The ink might not be dry on the deals yet, but imminently.“
During the London premiere of Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, director Tim Burton didn’t seem optimistic about the chances of another sequel due to the amount of time it took to get the first sequel off the ground. “Well, if [the same] time frame goes on, I’ll be about 100,” Burton said. “So maybe. I doubt it.” It seems that things are moving a little bit faster this time around.

Warner Bros. is officially saying "I Will Always Love You" to the classic Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston-led romantic thriller The Bodyguard. Beetlejuice became a cult classic following its 1988 release, and, although there were initial plans for a sequel, nothing materialized until 2024. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was a resounding success, and the franchise might continue.
Although director Tim Burton, who helmed both entries, was reluctant to confirm Beetlejuice 3, it looks like the dark comedy might bring back Michael Keaton as the Ghost with the Most. Following the release of 2024's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the creative team raved over working together again and how easy it was to go back to the role. In a new interview with Deadline, Warner Bros Pictures co-chairman/CEO Mike De Luca teased there is an ongoing conversation to "imminently" bring back Beetlejuice.
During the conversation, Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy addressed the success Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and the recently-released A Minecraft Movie had. When asked about a possible sequel for both projects, De Luca replied, "Imminently. The ink might not...

Exclusive: If you focus on snarky and largely unsubstantiated reports, you might figure Warner Bros Pictures co-chairman/CEOs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy would spend this weekend boxing up their belongings. Using a couple flops and risky upcoming films as fodder, several reports with scant backup say their Warner Bros Discovery boss David Zaslav is scouring for replacement candidates (which he denies in a tepid manner). Despite the rough press, De Luca and Abdy will actually spend this weekend same as their counterparts at other studios do: trying to keep an eye on kids while they read scripts, watch dailies and dream up slates for 2026 and beyond.

As markets continued their downward skid Monday thanks to President Donald Trump’s tariffs, there was one stock bucking the trend: that of Warner Bros. film heads Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy.
Warner Bros. and Legendary’s A Minecraft Movie bested already high expectations at the weekend box office to earn a massive $162.7 million domestically and more than $313 million in worldwide ticket sales in its opening weekend. After a string of underperforming titles — and a rumor mill that has been churning since the top of the year about De Luca and Abdy’s fate at Warners — Minecraft is the type of win that should silence critics. In a memo to Warner Bros. Discovery staff, De Luca and Abdy touted the success, writing, “This is what happens when we believe in the power of our creativity, each other, and the strength of great storytelling.”

Brick by brick, Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy are taking a win for this weekend’s monster hit “A Minecraft Movie.”

Discovery in a memo on Monday. The pair claimed victory on behalf of the studio for the record-smashing video game adaptation – which earned nearly $315 million at the worldwide box office in its first outing – a movie co-produced with Legendary Entertainment.
De Luca and Abdy noted that “A Minecraft Movie” represented “the largest domestic opening weekend of 2025, the biggest since July, and Warner Bros.’ largest opening weekend since 2023. This is truly a world-class achievement!”

The box office blues have been banished in historic fashion.
Warner Bros.’ A Minecraft Movie, made with help from Legendary Pictures, struck gold with a record-shattering $163 million opening domestically and $150.7 million overseas for a global start of $313.2 million, according to final weekend numbers. Thanks to a huge Sunday, that’s up more than $12 million from Sunday’s domestic estimate of $157 million and $144 million overseas for a global haul of $301 million.
The film came in tens of millions ahead of expectations to score the top start ever for a video game adaptation, besting the $146.4 million three-day launch of Universal Pictures’ The Super Mario Bros. Movie over Easter weekend in 2023. (Opening on a Wednesday, Mario Bros. earned $204 million through Easter Sunday.)
A Minecraft Movie easily boasts the top start of 2025 to date, and is the biggest domestic launch since Deadpool & Wolverine in July 2024 ($211 million). Just as noteworthy, it came in ahead...

A recent rumor that David Zaslav might be thinking about making a major change at Warner Bros. following a number of box office disappointments appears to have been confirmed.
According to Bloomberg, the Warner Bros. Discovery CEO is currently engaged in "early and informal" talks with potential successors to studio heads Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy. Joker: Folie à Deux's abysmal box office performance is believed to be a major reason for the change, but Todd Phillips' critically-panned sequel is not the only recent WB movie to underperform at the box office.
Bong Joon Ho's Mickey 17 will reportedly end up costing the studio between $75 million to $80 million over the course of its theatrical run, and the studio is also coming off another bomb in Alto Knights - although Zaslav is believed to have greenlit the movie himself despite others voicing concerns about it having limited prospects.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has begun taking early-stage talks with potential successors about possibly replacing WB studio heads Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, according to a Sunday report from Bloomberg.
The outlet noted these discussions have been informal, but they come after Warner Bros. has recently suffered a string of box office failures like “Alto Knights,” “Mickey 17” and “Joker: Folie à Deux,” the latter of which grossed just $200 million after the first “Joker” crossed $1 billion and suffered poor reviews. On Jan. 7, Warner Bros. worldwide marketing chief Josh Goldstine was called into the office of his bosses, studio chiefs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, at the end of the day to find out that he was being let go after four years at the company. His three year-contract was renewed in early 2024, so Goldstine’s dismissal came as a surprise to many on the Burbank lot, given that he played a key role in promoting successes that range from “The Batman” and “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” to “Barbie” and “Wonka.” Goldstine’s firing was publicized the following day, at the height of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, which some found to be in poor taste, though knowledgable individuals chalked up the timing to an unfortunate coincidence.
There’s an adage in Hollywood: When a movie flops, blame marketing.
So this executive shuffle is unusual because Warner Bros. had enjoyed a decent 2024 in terms of ticket sales.

Ever since Christopher Nolan won the Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director with his blockbuster historical drama "Oppenheimer" (four words you rarely read together), the entire film industry has been keeping a close eye on the filmmaker's next move. Nolan's creative whims have always driven speculation within the business, but this time around it wasn't just about what he would do next but where he would do it.
For almost a decade, this wasn't a concern. After his breakthrough neo-noir masterpiece "Memento" turned him into one of the hottest young directors in Hollywood, Christopher Nolan made his first studio effort, "Insomnia," at Warner Bros., and called the big house in Burbank his home for close to a decade. What changed? The Covid pandemic and then WB production chief Jason Kilar's decision in 2020, via his Project Popcorn initiative, to release the company's entire slate for the year day-and-date...

The box office returns for Joker 2 – Joker: Folie A Deux – have come in short, and already, blame appears to be apportioned. A few thoughts.
The box office performance of Joker 2, or Joker: Folie A Deux to its friends, is hardly on the catastrophic side, but it’s also very clearly a sizeable disappointment for Warner Bros.
The original film was made for a modest sum of around $60m and went on to gross over $1bn. The sequel has cost more than three times the original to make, and looks set to top out at around $400m once its box office run is complete. The opening weekend in the US of some $37m came in below expectations, even if international box office held up okay.
Still, some are calling it a ‘box office bomb’, even if that seems on the dramatic side.
What is clear is that Warner Bros...

A lot of things went wrong with Joker: Folie à Deux. But the worst one of all was Todd Phillips’ misguided belief that marrying the maniacal Batman villain who revels in chaos, carves up his face for laughs, and kills people as an afterthought with La La Land would be a good idea. Joker 2 does not work as a fantasy derivative of some rom-com musical. The film only works if it remembers what, or rather who, it is marketing – the Joker.

Meanwhile, Phillips, propelled by the success of his 2019 film, perhaps grew too lax to understand the weight of the sequel. The first film, made on a $60 million budget, earned $1.1 billion by the end of its theatrical run. The sequel, with a budget of $200 million, now ranks lower than Madame Web (which was laughable at best) and struggles to cross the $100 million ceiling,...

On Sept. 30, Lady Gaga blew kisses to fans outside the Tcl Chinese Theatre ahead of the premiere of “Joker: Folie à Deux,” while Joaquin Phoenix dropped his typical solemn facade and flashed a few smiles from the red carpet. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav dropped by the after-party at Sunset Tower and mingled with the film’s two high-paid lead actors as the meatless sliders (vegan Phoenix’s idea) made the rounds. For all the star wattage on display, there were some notable no-shows — namely, DC Studios toppers James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Insiders say the duo’s glaring absence for a film that is based on one of the biggest draws in the DC canon underscores a dysfunctional dynamic that played out behind the scenes on the ill-fated Warner Bros. musical. Todd Phillips “wanted nothing to do with DC” during the making of the film, says one...

The Hollywood Reporter has published an in-depth analysis of where things went wrong for Joker: Folie à Deux, detailing the movie's conception and who might be to blame for its failings.
Under pressure from Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy - the co-heads of Warner Bros. Pictures - decided to give a Joker sequel the green light. Toby Emmerich had already got the ball rolling, and filmmaker Todd Phillips and lead star Joaquin Phoenix quickly nabbed themselves $20 million paydays.
As for Lady Gaga, she negotiated a deal which saw her paid $12 million to play a new version of Harley Quinn.
Unsurprisingly, De Luca and Abdy "were left reeling" (as was everyone at the studio) after Joker: Folie à Deux's disastrous $37.8 million opening weekend. As for Phillips, he's gone into hiding, "[spending] the weekend in seclusion on a ranch property he owns."

Previously Warner Bros. used to be Christopher Nolan’s go-to production company for his iconic films. However, after Tenet, Nolan had a fallout with the company leading him to release Oppenheimer under Universal Pictures and Atlas Entertainment. This caused the whole Barbie (under Warner Bros.) vs Oppenheimer feud.

However, after months since the release of the film and its Oscar milestone, Warner Bros. had become desperate to earn back Christopher Nolan. But on a recent note, following Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux and his gutsy step against Nolan—which eventually turned into a failure—seemingly made it worse for the production company. Not only did Joker 2 cause a financial disaster for WB but also further messed up their possibility of winning back Nolan.
