Nine Dead had some fairly good actors in it like John Terry from Lost and Melissa Joan Hart but I am not too big of a fan of hers just because she annoys the crap out of me. The film was directed by Chris Shadley who has done tons of crew jobs for films like Red Eye, Cloverfield, and many more. The writer of the film is first timer Patrick Wehe Mahoney which I believe did a very good job until the end of the film with the twist which made me hate…...

Nine Dead is a Hartbreak Film production that is a tightly wound thriller. Released on DVD in March 9th and the writing focuses on dramatic dialogue. The film stars Melissa Joan Hart, John Terry, and Daniel Baldwin. Thankfully most of Baldwin's scenes were cut in favour of a film that unravels like a jigsaw puzzle. This picture only reveals itself in the end.
Nine Dead begins with nine people from the Los Angeles or Las Vegas areas being kidnapped by a masked stranger. Not much later, these nine characters awaken in a dingy warehouse room handcuffed to metal poles. Each of these strangers are connected. They only have a few minutes to figure out what that connection is before being executed by the mysterious stranger.
The film is a thriller because the tone is tense, motivations are hidden and each of the character's...

Another horror fan drops me a line on "Nine Dead," starring Melissa Joan, which is moving towards a mid 2009 release date. A trailer is already online at the "Nine Dead," homepage; yet, this feature seems to be taking a line out of the original "Saw," movie play book, with central characters banding together to solve a puzzle and the title, a play on words of the saying, "a cat has nine lives," seems pretty kitschy.
From the trailer, the use of hoods and wooden posts seems to be an attempt by writer Patrick Wehe Mahoney, or director Chris Shadley to play up on the viewer's fear of hostage taking abroad. And is the title "Nine Dead," revealing the ending of the film? Have a look at a couple stills of Melissa Joan Hart at her bloody best and the first trailer that has a dark, sinister appeal.
