Rubén Arnaiz, director and screenwriter of Bad Weed which we reviewed recently, has released the trailer and poster for his next film – currently in post-production – entitled Scavenger, an action adventure story with touches of fantasy starring Angus Her, Doua Vang, Andrew Dasz, Steven Dasz and Harumi Takashima.
In a post-apocalyptic world, Reiko and Adam escape from the Walled City after stealing something from the Bouden company, which sends a group of mercenaries to catch them. His goal is to reach The Old Woman, a mysterious woman who seems to have the key to start a new future.
Produced by Rubén Arnaiz – who also writes and directs, Pablo Pabloff and Rafael Sánchez; Scavenger was filmed in Baja California in Spanish, English, Japanese and Chinese. Check out the trailer and poster below:...

With the Nintendo Switch dominating the gaming market, and more developers working to bring their older titles to new system, I thought I'd take a look at some of the best games from previous generations that I'd happily pay money to play on the Switch.
The success of Doom, Skyrim, La Noire, and a few others on the Switch has shown that fans have a strong desire to play some of their favorite Aaa games on the handheld hybrid. Personally speaking, I'm all for it. Since the launch of the Switch in March, it's quickly become the gaming system I use most (and now have the most games on) due to its ease of use.
Being portable means that any game, no matter its size, becomes pick-up-and-play at your leisure. For a parent with four kiddos (one an infant), this if pretty important. I've passed on more big game releases than I'd like to,...

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the GameCube's North American launch and while many gamers still feel the tiny console marked the beginning of the end for Nintendo's dominancy, it did give us some great titles worthy of remastered versions for the new generation.
It's hard to believe that it's been 15 years since Nintendo brought out the GameCube to compete with the PS2 and Microsoft's new-fangled machine, the Xbox. Despite it's size, the house of Mario managed to pack in quite a bit of power in the machine, giving us some great games along the way, though the quantity of them seemed to be lacking...
These days, HD remasters from previous generation titles are not uncommon. Hell, Kingdom Hearts has been remastered for Two generations at this point, and fans are gobbling them up. Nintendo has been slower in this area, however, giving us updated versions of some Zelda titles,...

Nintendo kicked off their first post-Iwata Direct last night with the announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD coming to the Wii U. While it's nice to see Nintendo give more games the re-master treatment, I feel like there are some better options than another Zelda title. Let's take a look at some.
Personally speaking, I never cared for Twilight Princess when it release on the GameCube/Wii. I just couldn't get into it, and it felt far more tedious than enjoyable. Game companies giving their older games HD re-masters isn't anything new, but Nintendo hasn't fully embraced the trend, despite having a solid catalog of games to choose from. To be fair, licensing for some of the properties I mention below are likely the reason why they haven't gotten an HD version, but this is a wish list...so let's get to wishing!

Nintendo has been the most enduring and influential company in the gaming medium and its consoles. Branding and innovative game achievements have given the company a momentous status in popular culture. And so 30 years after the Nes hit North American shores, we’ve decided to compile a list of the 100 greatest Nintendo games. Here is part two.

It might seem greedy to expect a game to be remade twice but when it’s a game as brilliant as Metal Gear Solid, you can forgive fever-pitch anticipation. A while back, Hideo Kojima himself confused journalists when he seemed to state that he was actively looking for a studio to remake Metal Gear Solid using the brand spanking new Fox Engine (responsible for the amazing technical advances we’ve seen in Metal Gear Solid V). The world went crazy but it turned out that Kojima was simply saying he would love for someone to do it; it wasn’t something he was looking into right now.
Still, the fact that he’s teasing us with the idea surely indicates that it’s going to be considered somewhere down the line? After all, it’s a great way to introduce the game to a whole new audience. That must...

I was rather late getting into the videogame scene. Despite time spent at friends’ houses playing Sonic and Donkey Kong Country on their Mega Drive and Snes, it wasn’t until much later – when the PlayStation was well and truly established – that I finally got on board. Games like Crash Bandicoot and Tomb Raider were great fun, and helped reinforce the all-important playground notion that twelve-year-old-me had picked the ‘right’ console (‘N64 still uses cartridges and can’t get proper Fmv!’ we chanted).
But soon a game would arrive that changed things. It showed that games could be more than just colourful platformers or sporting events, that they could have adult stories and serious messages, and that we didn’t need to settle for Resident Evil-dialogue. I’m talking, of course, about Metal Gear Solid.

Like Sega's ill-fated Dreamcast, the Nintendo GameCube may have failed commercially, but today it's held in high regard by gamers, and many of its titles have a cult following. The GameCube's legacy isn't merely limited to retro, cult appeal, though, and many games on the platform have survived and have been continued on later Nintendo platforms. It also played host to some people's all-time favourite entries in long-running Nintendo series, with its incarnations of some iconic Nintendo franchises beating those on the more successful platforms from the Japanese giant.

If anyone were to ask me what my favorite video game series of all time is, I wouldn’t think twice about my answer. Metal Gear Solid, to me, encompasses everything that is great about the video game industry. Hideo Kojima turned everything on its head when the original Metal Gear Solid was released for the PS1 back in 1998. Never before had anyone used the medium to tell a story in the way that Kojima did, and in my opinion no one has been able to top him in this area since.
With Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain hopefully not too far off in the distance, I thought this would be a great time to look back at the main entries in the series and rank them. For this post, I will only be looking at the “Hideo Kojima Game” entries, meaning Portable Ops will not be here.

I have been playing video games for almost my entire life. Some of my first memories are of watching my brother play games on our old Atari St computer. Once I got old enough to play games myself, my childhood was dominated by Nintendo consoles. The Snes, N64, Gamecube, and significantly later, the Wii, were the consoles of my upbringing, and I loved it. But through the eons of time spent on a console, there are a few games that everyone else seems to love that I just can’t stand. This is my latest Awkward Geek Confession, despite the risk of firestorm, three well-loved video games that I just can’t stand.
1. Super Mario Sunshine
The first is special. I never played it when it was originally released, but once I got married this game was added to my library. Over a recent weekend I decided to pick it...

According to an article in GameReactor EU, mystery man, mad genius, and games industry svengali Hideo Kojima is currently looking for a third-party studio to remake the original "Metal Gear Solid" using his company's new Fox Engine. The revelation came as part of a roundtable discussion at E3, when a fan asked Kojima about potential remakes of "Metal Gear Solid" and "Metal Gears Solid 2: Sons of Liberty."
Kojima apparently admitted to the group that some of the game's mechanics would need to be modernized and updated and explained that he'd like to follow up on the success of "Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes," the Gamecube remake of the first game by Silicon Knights.
Indeed, Kojima Productions are no strangers to expansions and re-releases. The PlayStation version of "Metal Gear Solid" was included in Konami's "Essential" and "Legacy" collections, but the game has never been remastered for more modern consoles,...

The original PS1 outing of Metal Gear Solid could be remade once more if Kojima gets his way...
GameReactor is reporting that Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear series, is looking for a development team to remake the classic PS1 Metal Gear Solid, along with Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, using the next gen Fox Engine.
During an interview at E3 Kojima apparently made it clear that he wanted to see the first two Mgs titles remade with the new engine that currently powers Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
According to the interview, he's actively looking for someone to take on the project, which may need some mechanics updating for the new engine, even though the first game was already remade for the GameCube as The Twin Snakes.

The original Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation 1 remains one of my favorite games of all time, and an excellent example of storytelling, even in a limited era. Yet despite already having received a remake in the form of the GameCube's Twin Snakes, the classic game hasn't made it's way into the HD era, even though all the others have! Now that may change, as the series creator, Hideo Kojima, has made mention that he's currently looking for a studio to remake the game once again.
This news comes from an interview Kojima did with Game Reactor UK, in which he says he's currently looking at studios to see about remaking the original Metal Gear Solid using the new Fox Engine. I've been wanting this for quite some time. Hell, I'd be happy if they just gave us an HD version of The Twin Snakes! I'm trying not to get...

From the moment that Precursor Games announced their crowdfunding campaign for Shadow of the Eternals the project has been derailed somewhat by the studio’s decision to have Denis Dyack act as the game’s creative lead.
Dyack’s involvement with Shadow of the Eternals brings with it a ton of questions and baggage that basically stems from two related sources. The first is the fact that his last two titles (Too Human and X-Men: Destiny) dramatically failed to meet consumer expectations. The second, and more troubling, issue comes from an October 2012 Kotaku article titled “What went wrong with Silicon Knights’ X-Men: Destiny?”
The Kotaku article is based on accounts from several anonymous former-Silicon Knights employees, and paints a pretty grim picture of exactly how the studio fell apart after releasing Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for the Nintendo GameCube. There is no doubt that the sudden appearance of Precursor Games’ Shadow of the Eternals last week has stirred up some mixed emotions within the gaming community. On the one hand, the very thought of a spiritual successor to the GameCube classic Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem is more than enough to open up wallets for Precursor’s crowdfunding campaign. On the other hand, there is Denis Dyack.
Apparently, Denis Dyack’s role as creative lead on Shadow of the Eternals has resulted in so much angst from gamers, that Precursor CEO Paul Caporicci has updated the project’s website with a note defending the decision to bring Silicon Knight’s president (and last remaining employee) on board.
“As many people can relate, being laid off is an emotionally distressing experience. When this happened to me, I was determined to turn this toward more positive ends. I began reaching out...

While we’re still recovering of the incredible announcement that was the revelation that Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain will be two different games, we’re now receiving new info on this beloved saga. But this info isn’t about the two games mentioned before, it is about a new collection that (apparently) will include Every Single Metal Gear Released So Far.

It’s a frequent complaint of gamers that modern games are simply getting shorter and shorter; you need only look as far as the 4-5 hour Call of Duty campaigns to see how true that is.
However, as an adult I find myself increasingly more strapped for time, and so above all else I favour games that make the best use of it; I prefer exhilarating 6-hour games over bloated, laborious 20-hour slogs. Though far too many games are too short, yes, there are also plenty that seem to not know when to put things to bed.
Though some games keep going long past the logical end-point, a trickier tactic that developers use to mask their padding is to insert the filler elements throughout the game as “downtime” between the big set-pieces, such that you don’t recognise them as easily. Still, here are 10 games that didn’t quite get...

One of the more exciting announcements from the latest Nintendo Direct, was that The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker would be getting and HD re-release. It’s not just the knowledge that we’ll be getting a chance to replay a great Zelda game that has us interested, it’s the fact that this means Nintendo is willing to push out HD versions of their older games (as PS3 and Xbox have been doing). This got me to thinking about other Gamecube era games I’d love to see get an HD re-release...and this is what I came up with.

Today we have 12 new posters for Jackie Chan‘s last action film Chinese Zodiac, part three in the Armour of God series, the second of which was released in the U.S. under the title Operation Condor.
The film stars Chan, Oliver Platt, Caitlin Dechelle. Kenny G, Steven Dasz, Andrew Dasz, Laura Weissbecker, Sang-woo Kwone, Christian Bachini, and Vincent Sze.
There’s no official U.S. release date for Chinese Zodiac, though it’s currently scheduled to open in Hong Kong on December 12th, 2012, which means if we’re lucky and/or someone thinks they can sell this to Americans, we could get it next Spring.
Here’s plot summary for the film
