“Tough Love,” the second track from Avicii’s posthumous album Tim, has dropped. The buoyant, ambient pop number was produced by Avicii alongside Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir (Aka Vargas & Lagola), who also worked with the artist on “Silhouettes” and “Hey Brother.” Vargas’ wife Agnes contributed the duet-ing vocals with the singer.
In a behind the scenes video, his co-producers share that the track was 80% finished at the time of Avicii’s death in April 2018. The duo completed the song with the musician’s intention in mind. Avicii’s...

Late Swedish DJ Avicii's dance song "Tough love", which features sounds from India, released on Friday.
It was produced and written by Avicii (Tim Bergling), Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir (Vargas and Lagola). Al Fakir and Pontare are longtime collaborators of Tim and worked with him on "Silhouettes", "Hey brother", "Without you" and more.
In the spring of 2017, after Bergling had been exploring music from northwest India, he played a melody loop for the two.
"Oddly enough, the Indian influences fit perfectly into a song we were working on, something that was so typical of Tim," Pontare said in a statement.
"He was a melodic genius."
Bergling was particular about vocal sounds and phrasing. He always heard the finished result in his head and then in the studio, he coached guest singers on how to produce what he was hearing.
In his notes, Bergling wrote about "Tough love":...

Avicii and Aloe Blacc reunite on the new song “Sos,” the first offering from the late producer’s posthumous album, Tim, out June 6th. The song was accompanied by a music video featuring words of praise for the artist born Tim Bergling from his fans.
The track boasts a lithe pop groove made out of synths that twist and tumble atop a beat of crisp drums. Though the song features a quintessential Edm build, there’s something poignant and understated about its apex as Blacc sings, “I can feel your...

One of the most defining moments of Avicii’s too-brief career came at the 2012 Ultra Music Festival, when Madonna appeared on stage to introduce him and their first collaboration, “Girl Gone Wild.” That the queen of pop acknowledged the then-22-year-old Tim Bergling — who died Friday at the age of 28 of undisclosed causes — as a peer and a collaborator wasn’t just a watershed moment for him, it was one for dance music as well.
But actually, a more telling moment in the Swedish superstar’s career came a year later, at Ultra in 2013, when he unveiled his new bluegrass-meets-electronic sound for the first time. Avicii opened his set with his signature hit, “Levels,” a blockbuster track that altered the face of Edm when it was first played at Ultra in 2011. But immediately afterward, Aloe Blacc took the stage to perform “Wake Me Up,” released just days earlier, live for the first time.

After much teasing, Edm super duo Axwell Λ Ingrosso have dropped their anthemic new track, “On My Way.” Following excellent efforts like “Something New” and “Can’t Hold Us Down,” this next song from the former Swedish House Mafia members is another huge one, boasting an emotional piano melody to kick things off, infectious vocals by frequent Avicii collaborator Salem Al Fakir, and an electro-infused drop that will have dance floors shaking.
The festival-ready anthem is easy to sing-along with as well, and you can be sure that it’s going to be dropped at Ultra this month, where the duo will take the stage for what will no doubt be an electrifying set. It might be a bit too early to call it just yet, but something tells me that this could be a “Save The World”-esque hit for Axwell Λ Ingrosso. I personally think it’s their...

In Avicii’s new video for “You Make Me,” featuring Salem Al Fakir, folks strap on their roller skates for a roller boogie version of “West Side Story.” The follow up to the video Ralph Lauren commercial for top 5 hit, “Wake Me Up,” is a fun look at rivalries, over a girl, naturally, and a poke at everything from the classic musical to “Crouching Dragon, Hidden Tiger,” if it took place in a roller rink. Mercedes, the waitress, is the object of desire for Chang, her ex, and Henry, cleverly dubbed The Highroller for his skating prowess. Chang, who works at...
