If you’re even a casual user of TikTok, you’ve probably heard this line before. It’s from a speech by Cynthia Smock, a campus evangelist who has spent 40 years touring southern US campuses to preach against drugs, alcohol, sexual promiscuity, and homosexuality. On TikTok, she’s better known as Sister Cindy.
Sister Cindy isn’t your typical sidewalk preacher. She eschews conventional religious commentary for wildly vulgar and over-the-top rants, winning her a devoted (and mostly ironic) fanbase of zoomers on TikTok.

It’s late March and “A Black Lady Sketch Show” creator and star Robin Thede is working with the show’s editors to put the finishing touches on Season 4 of the half-hour HBO comedy.
“First season,” she tells Variety, “I was like, I want every third line to be a joke. Second season, every other line. Now, literally every line is a joke, even the setups to the punchlines. It’s crazy.”
With sketches that riff on relatable themes — like hair woes, ashy skin and the politics of the Black church — “A Black Lady Sketch Show” frames the world from a Black woman’s point of view. Even when the subject matter has nothing to do with Blackness, the show’s existence is impactful, a sentiment Whoopi Goldberg underlined during a recent episode of “The View.”

It’s time to break out the good hair and sip on some celebratory champagne because HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show has returned for its fourth season tonight. Keeping in theme with the series’ previous seasons, creator and star Robin Thede, alongside her mainstay cast members Gabrielle Dennis and Skye Townsend, continues to highlight the niche inner workings of the Black American community through absurdist humor and topical commentary. Season 4 ushers in three series newcomers, TikTok personality DaMya Gurley, The Voice star Tamara Jade, actress Angel Laketa Moore along with a special bevy of guest stars including Jackée Harry, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Colman Domingo, who suffers a hilariously awkward interview with fan-favorite character Dr. Hadassah Olayinka Ali-Youngman Pre-PhD.
Here, Thede spoke to Deadline about the importance of creating Black female comedy, collaborating with her new cast and guest stars, and how she manages to maintain the funny.

Robin Thede designed A Black Lady Sketch Show to have no end. “That is my original vision for the show,” she tells TV Insider ahead of the April 14 Season 4 premiere on HBO, “that the show can be an institution and a launching platform for so many talented Black women to come through and to be able to show the world everything they’ve got.” That talent is on full display in A Black Lady Sketch Show Season 4, which features returning stars Thede, Gabrielle Dennis, and Skye Townsend. This is the first season without star Ashley Nicole Black, but three new cast members — DaMya Gurley, Tamara Jade, and Angel Laketa Moore — join the hilarious crew in her stead. Thede serves as an executive producer, showrunner, and writer in addition to being a star and creator. “Teamwork is the key” to keeping the magic flowing in their writers’ room and beyond. “I’m constantly moving.

“A Black Lady Sketch Show” is back for a fourth season and, according to series creator and star Robin Thede, the comedy is bigger and broader than ever. In fact, internally, they’ve been referring to this season in multiversal terms.
“These women play hundreds of characters in so few episodes, and they’re so talented, we keep talking about the Black Lady Cinematic Universe,” Thede tells Variety, exclusively debuting the trailer for Season 4 and promising that this six-episode season utilizes its stars’ unique abilities more creatively than ever.
“It’s about expansion and what our creativity can create, for good or for evil,” Thede explains, winking at the return of the devil, who she also portrays. “It feels like we’re in an era of self-creation, of defining what this universe can be and removing any limitations that we may have had.”

We have to admit, we didn't totally love the pilot of Chelsea Handler's semi-autobiographical sitcom "Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea," so we're hoping that a major overhaul will improve the show.
TVLine reports that the NBC series has canned three actors -- nearly half its cast -- in a total revamp of the premise. "White Collar's" Natalie Morales is out, as is Angel Laketa Moore from "ER." In a rather awkward move, they've also ousted Jo Koy, a comedian and friend of Handler's, who has appeared on over 38 episodes of her show "Chelsea Lately."
Things are about to get tense around that Round Table of hers.
The characters are apparently in the process of being re-imagined... and re-cast. Still on board, of course, are "That '70s Show" star Laura Prepon as Chelsea Handler, and Chelsea Handler as her frumpy born-again older sister, Sloane.

It's not a great start to the Fourth of July for several cast members of Chelsea Handler's new NBC sitcom, 'Are You There, Vodka? It's Me Chelsea' as they've been fired.
According to TVLine.com the comedy is being radically retooled, which has involved pink slips being handed out to nearly half of the ensemble cast, including Natalie Morales ('White Collar'), Angel Laketa Moore ('ER') and Jo Koy ('Chelsea Lately').
A spokesperson for the show confirmed that the three are leaving "for creative reasons," and that their characters are currently being reconceived.

"Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea" is cutting almost half of its ensemble, TVLine reports. Among them are Natalie Morales, Angel Laketa Moore and Jo Koy who actually were cast for quite prominent characters.
"White Collar" alum Morales was set to play Chelsea's best friend, while former "ER" star Moore and "Chelsea Lately" panelist Koy were supposed to play Chelsea's bar coworkers. A spokesperson for the show confirmed that the threesome will not be moving forward with the series for creative reasons and their characters are currently being reconceived.
"Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea" is based on Chelsea Handler's best-selling comic memoir of the same title. Laura Prepon is still set to play the title character. The semi-autobiographical sitcom is slated to premiere on NBC at midseason.

The cast of Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea — Chelsea Handler’s new semi-autobiographical NBC sitcom — could probably use a stiff drink right about now.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that nearly half of the show’s ensemble — including White Collar alum Natalie Morales, onetime ER nurse Angel Laketa Moore and Chelsea Lately staple Jo Koy — have been let go.
A spokesperson for the show confirmed that the trio would not be moving forward with the series for creative reasons. Their characters are currently being reconceived.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the first announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on NBC.
With Bob Greenblatt having replaced the outgoing Jeff Zucker, NBC is looking to turn around its dismal fortunes and has started by significantly cutting back on a bunch of shows which were simply not performing. This schedule takes some big risks with some new shows needing to perform if they're to survive, while two two-hour reality show blocks early in the week have certainly raised eyebrows.
There are twelve new shows in all, half of which are being held until mid-season. In the Fall, the biggest gamble is "Prime Suspect" - the U.S. remake of the iconic British police drama. With only the rarest of exceptions, American remakes of British shows have generally failed...

It's that time again, and NBC has revealed it's 2011-2012 schedule. A couple of things have been kicked to the curb, and a host of new shows are coming to fill things in. I have a preview of the new fall shows, and the full schedule for you. There are a few surprises on the cut and not cut side of things, and the new shows have a bit of something for everyone. As usual, some of the ones that look the best to me are reserved for mid-season. And, NBC has apparently given up on Saturday altogether.
It's a whole lot of info, so let's just jump in.
NBC has introduced its 2011-12 primetime schedule, showcasing six new dramas and six new comedies from a roster of renowned hit-makers that includes Steven Spielberg, Lorne Michaels, Brian Grazer, Tom Werner, John Grisham and Peter Berg, among many others.
The season’s new dramas are “Smash,...

Co-starring with the real-life version of your character? Talk about pressure.
"That '70s Show" alum Laura Prepon seems to be handling it just perfectly as she takes on Chelsea Handler in NBC's midseason show, "Are You There Vodka? It's Me Chelsea." The show also stars Handler as her own pregnant, born-again big sister Sloane.
"Chelsea Lately" roundtable regular Jo Koy joins the cast, along with Angel Laketa Moore, Mark Povinelli, Natalie Morales, Lauren Lapkus and Lenny Clarke. It's directed by Gail Mancuso of "30 Rock" and "Modern Family."
The show is based off Handler's best selling book and chronicles her own journey of self-realization after being convicted of a DUI. ...

Angel Laketa Moore has joined NBC's new pilot based on the life of Chelsea Handler. Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea, based on television host Handler's autobiography of the same name, will focus on the exploits of Chelsea Hanson, a cocktail waitress with strong views on sex and alcohol. Moore will play an assistant manager at the sports bar where Hanson (Laura Prepon) works, according (more)...

Angel Laketa Moore, likely best known for her role as Nurse Dawn Archer on the hit NBC drama ER, where she was for 4 seasons, has joined another NBC program, the upcoming comedy series titled, Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea, inspired by comedienne/actress/host Chelsea Handler’s autobiographical book of the same name.
The series, like the book, will focus on a youthful Handler as a 20-something “fresh-faced single cocktail waitress highly opinionated and open about her love to drink and have sex.” Something I hear Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson knows a little bit about
Angel Laketa Moore will play the assistant manager of the sports bar where Chelsea works. Not sure how juicy the part is, but there ya go…
Since ER went off the air in 2009, Moore has appeared in made-for-tv movie – Gimme Shelter in 2010 – so I’d assume that this is a welcomed job for her.
