The Hollywood Reporter‘s New York Power Broker Awards are back for the fourth year of celebrating the biggest sellers in the Big Apple.

The event — presented by The Society Group, the PR purveyors of power brokers and properties, and sponsored by the AD100-honored full-suite furnishing firm Ash Staging — will take place at a private members club on April 16. Selling the City stars Eleonora Srugo and Steve Gold will host the celebration, after Jason Oppenheim and Mary Bonnet of Selling Sunset, Fredrik Eklund of Million Dollar Listing and Mauricio Umansky of Buying Beverly Hills have all previously hosted the L.A. Power Broker Awards.

Guests will enjoy elevated cocktails and canapés, followed by the awards presentation where this year’s winners will be announced. The Apple TV+ thriller Prime Target is driven by mathematics. After a gas explosion in Baghdad uncovers an ancient library, researchers soon stumble on the missing piece to a mathematical equation with global consequences. Audiences are able to follow math prodigy Edward Brooks as he ventures further and further down the numerical rabbit hole. But for the show to work, its math has to be spot-on.

Enter Dr. Tim Davis from London's Northeastern University, who was recruited as the show's math consultant. Davis sat down with Cbr to discuss his involvement in Prime Target and how quickly the show's stars picked up the math concepts. He also spoke about what he hoped to accomplish being part of the Apple original series.

The internet’s favorite cooking grandma, Lynja, has passed away at 67.

A throat cancer survivor whose battle with the disease left her with a distinctive voice she likened to Marge Simpson’s, Lynja (aka Lynn Yamada Davis) was an MIT alum and civil engineer who originally started posting videos in 2020 so her son Tim Davis could improve his videography skills during Covid quarantines. Their eccentric, energetic, and often meme-filled clips ended up netting Lynja nearly 40 million followers across YouTube and TikTok.

She passed away Jan. 1 of esophageal cancer.

“I’m super sad to inform you that unfortunately, Linda, my mom, has passed away,” Tim said in a video posted to the CookingWithLynja TikTok. “Her final moments were super peaceful, and thankfully she was surrounded by the people she loved most—her friends and family.”

Last year, The Hollywood Reporter launched the annual New York Power Broker Awards, bestowing honors on the market’s top sellers and savvy marketers. For 2023, THR is announcing winners in two categories and the nominees for such accolades as penthouse sale of the year and real estate rising star. The winners in nominated categories will be announced on THR.com in July.
