Although The Brothers Sun premiered to a positive critical response and spent five weeks in the Netflix Top 10 for English-language series, peaking at No. 2, the show was unable to gain a large audience. The Brothers Sun is moving ahead at Netflix.

Four months after announcing a straight-to-series order for the Brad Falchuk (Glee) and Byron Wu (The Getaway) series, the streamer has announced its cast.

The Brothers Sun is described as an action-packed, darkly comedic family soap.

The eight-episode series takes place in both Los Angeles and Taiwan and features an all-Asian writers room and an all-Asian cast.

It revolves around Taipei gangster Charles Sun who is settled into his life as a ruthless killer.

But when his father is shot by a mysterious assassin, Charles must go to L.A. to protect his mother and utterly unaware younger brother Bruce.

Yeoh is set to play Ellen, aka Mama Sun, who is the observant member of the family.

Justin Chien is on board as Charles Sun, the elder son of a crime boss who was groomed to be a hardened criminal.

Four months after being ordered straight to series, Netflix has set its cast for The Brothers Sun.

The series from creators Brad Falchuk (Glee) and Byron Wu (The Getaway) has tapped Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once, Crazy Rich Asians) to star.

Described as an action-packed, darkly comedic family soap, the eight-episode series is set in both Los Angeles and Taiwan and features an all-Asian writers room and all-Asian cast. The drama revolves around Taipei gangster Charles Sun who is settled into his life as a ruthless killer. But when his father is shot by a mysterious assassin, Charles must go to L.A. to protect his mother and utterly unaware younger brother Bruce.

Yeoh will star as Eileen “Mama” Sun, who has built a new life for herself and her son in Los Angeles — far from her past in Taiwan.

Netflix’s The Brothers Sun has found its leads.

Michelle Yeoh and Justin Chien will lead the series, which is set in the world of Taipei gangsters, and comes from American Horror Story co-creator Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu.

Yeoh, who stars in Paramount+’s Star Trek series franchise as well as films such as Everything Everywhere All at Once and Crazy Rich Asians, plays Mama Sun, while Chien, best known for Snapchat series Two Sides: Unfaithful, stars as Charles Sun.

Michelle Yeoh will lead the cast of Netflix’s upcoming drama series “The Brothers Sun.” The streamer also rounded out the cast Monday with four other lead roles.

Exclusive: Veteran UK sales agent Anthony Buckner, former Head of Sales at Icon, is launching Buckstop Films to coincide with the Cannes Marché.

First movie on the slate is supernatural horror Jump Out, which will star Lucien Laviscount (The Bye Bye Man), Hannah Arterton (Safe), Eugene Simon (Games Of Thrones), Alice Hewkin (Sex Education), Aaron Cobham (The Spanish Princess) and Brian Milligan (Hunger).

In Jump Out, which is scheduled to shoot later this year in the Canary Islands, a group of university friends find themselves stranded on a seemingly deserted island after a cliff jump goes wrong. But they soon discover they are not alone and face horrors they could never have imagined.

The movie comes from UK writer-director Benjamin Johns , who has been BAFTA-nominated for his shorts work. Mike Spragg Bsc is the cinematographer. Djonny Chen of Silent D Pictures (Daemon Mind) is producing alongside Johns through his Eye Cue Films International.

Former Icon Entertainment executive Anthony Buckner is launching his own sales firm, Buckstop Films, and has acquired worldwide rights to Benjamin Johns’ supernatural horror Jump Out.

Run solely by Buckner, UK-based Buckstop will handle “one or two films a year to begin with” according to the exec.

.“I am open to all budget sizes, and am in talks with several projects across various genres,” he said.

Buckner will be participating in virtual meetings during next week’s Cannes Film Festival (July 6-17), and will not be attending the event in person.
