Exclusive: Netflix won a hotly contested auction for The Bluff, a pitch that will be written as a star vehicle for Zoe Saldana, with Frank E. Flowers directing. Joe Ballarini will write the script with Flowers. Several streamers chased this one and the upfront commitment for those scribes is seven figures.
Project is about pirates in the Caribbean, but this is no family film. The drama is set in the Cayman Islands in the 1800s and Saldana plays Ercell, a Caribbean woman whose secret past is revealed when her island is invaded by vicious buccaneers. The intention is to blend visceral action and historical fiction to create a real action vehicle as the heroine fights against the atrocities committed by the pirates. There are strong roles for a second woman who is part of the vigilante campaign, and the nasty lead pirate. Saldana and Flowers previously teamed in the 2004 drama Haven.

With NBC's reimagined "Rosemary's Baby" being set in Paris, it only makes sense they'd hire a few French actors, and first to be named is the César-winning former Bond girl Carole Bouquet. UK-born Christina Cole has also signed on to the project.
Per Deadline, Bouquet (pictured right and below left) has been cast as Margaux Castevet, a sophisticated and beautiful Parisian socialite who befriends young Rosemary, and Cole (pictured below right) will play Julie, Rosemary’s spirited girlfriend.
Bouquet, who won a Best Actress César (the French Oscar) for Trop belle pour toi (1989) is probably best known here in the States as Bond girl Melina Havelock in For Your Eyes Only (1981). Coincidentally, Cole appeared in Casino Royale (2006) as well as the upcoming Jupiter Ascending.

NBC has found its Rosemary for the network's upcoming 4-hour redux of Rosemary's Baby! The always wonderful Zoe Saldana has signed up for birthing duties, much to the chagrin of racist morons who will no doubt complain that Rosemary was originally Caucasian!
Actually, given the fact that Rosemary's Baby was originally a book, Rosemary was black and white! See? Everybody wins!
According to Variety, Saldana will play Rosemary, the iconic young wife and would-be mother who, with her husband, moves into a Paris apartment that has a darkly storied past. After finally getting pregnant, she becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their mysterious neighbors have ulterior motives about the future of her child.
NBC announced the “Rosemary’s Baby” mini in December with Lionsgate TV attached to produce. The project is based on Ira Levin’s 1967 horror novel and is being penned by Scott Abbott and James Wong.
