Created by Jay Martin & Jae for Jacob Aaron Estes' unsettling new thriller, He's Watching, today's alternate poster -- titled "Purple Demon Face" -- certainly communicates a definitely scary vibe. This is the fourth of five alternate posters that we've exclusively debuted this week, in a series intended to celebrate -- if that's the right word for something scary that could potentially affect you deeply forever -- today's official release. Since we're being all official, here's the official synopsis: "When happy-go-lucky siblings Iris and Lucas are left alone while their parents recover from an illness, a series of playful pranks they play on each other escalate when they start receiving unsettling images and videos on their phones. With the incoming messages becoming increasingly nightmarish, Iris...

The setup -- two kids left alone in a house -- might remind you of a certain popular movie from the 1980s, but He's Watching very quickly establishes a distinctly unsettling mood. Jacob Aaron Estes directed from his own original screenplay; Estes is a filmmaker who knows his way around a deceptively calm setup that leads to unexpected trouble. We're happy to showcase the first of five alternate posters for the film here. Click the image in the gallery below to enjoy in greater splendor. The official synopsis helps to explain why both the alternate poster -- "Kids Screaming" by Jay Martin -- as well as the official image below look so foreboding: "When happy-go-lucky siblings Iris and...

Shawn Mendes has dropped the video for his new single “When You’re Gone.” The singer debuted the song — which he co-produced with Jonah Shy and cowrote with Shy and Scott Harris — earlier in the month at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas.
The Jay Martin-directed video, shot in Toronto and Austin, features black-and-white footage of the singer hitting the studio to record the track, rehearsing the song and meeting up with fans. As the song builds from a contemplative reflection on a relationship gone awry to an anthemic sing-along,...

If any of you knew that there was a Maximum Ride movie floating around out there and didn’t tell me, I’ll have you know I’m mad about it. Not like I’ve been following this series for years. And I’m especially mad, given how hilariously awful the first trailer for said movie looks.
I’m still having a hard time believing a Maximum Ride film, directed by someone named Jay Martin, actually exists, given that this property has been in development hell for over a decade, with people like Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke trying to make it happen along the way. There were once plans to do it as a web series, but that idea obviously changed course somewhere in the midst of development (perhaps as Paramount watched shows like Community and Sin City Saints send Yahoo Screen down the tubes).

"So what do we do?" "We fight!" Paramount has released a trailer for the young adult sci-fi adaptation titled Maximum Ride, directed by Jay Martin, about six orphan kids who are genetically cross-bred with avian DNA. This gives them the ability to fly, and they band together to figure out the "diabolical, scientific secrets of how they came to exist". Yep, it's as bad as it sounds. Starring Allie Marie Evans, Patrick Johnson, Lyliana Wray, Luke Gregory Crosby, Gavin Lewis, Tetona Jackson, Zayne Emory, Peter O'Brien & Carrie Wampler. As expected, this looks very cheesy and designed specifically for the "young adult" audience, so tread carefully. The effects don't even look good and the villain seems pretty awful, too. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) Jay Martin's Maximum Ride, direct from YouTube: Based on the phenomenal, bestselling book series by James Patterson, Maximum Ride is the extraordinary journey of six...

Hastily judging people for the actions they take, without giving much thought or consideration to the reasoning behind their decisions, can often be a problematic impulse that society has trouble contending with on a daily basis. While some of those acts are illegal and/or immoral in nature, there can often times can be an underlying detrimental motive that has led people to commit those unethical acts. That is certainly the case with the relatable anti-heroes in the independent crime thriller, ’7 Minutes,’ which is set to be released on Blu-ray and DVD, as well as on Digital HD, VOD and iTunes, on Tuesday. The criminal caper that goes wrong is always good for a suspenseful, absorbing thriller movie. Just from memory there is The Asphalt Jungle, The Killing, (almost any classic film noir dealing with a criminal undertaking, if it didn’t go wrong it wouldn’t be noir now would it?) Odds Against tomorrow, Reservoir Dogs, Bob Le Flambeur, Rififi, and Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead.
The list is just about endless, in fact, precious few movies about criminals show the heist going off without a hitch. Add to that list 7 Minutes, a tough, unblinking look at a caper done by amateurs so desperate they are willing to risk everything to try and pull it off.
Sam (Luke Mitchell), Mike, (Jason Ritter, son of John and showing some good acting chops) and Owen (Zane Holtz) lead small town lives of quiet desperation. They try and make some money through drug...

"This is our way out, it's perfect." Starz Digital has unveiled a trailer for Jay Martin's 7 Minutes, a modern day intense heist movie about three friends forced to commit a brazen robbery, but end up in a "game of life-or-death". There's some interesting twists and turns that they hint at in the trailer; I'm curious who that guy is that pops up at the end with the shotgun. The cast includes Luke Mitchell, Leven Rambin, Jason Ritter, Kris Kristofferson, Joel Murray, Kevin Gage and Zane Holtz. The film is the feature debut of music video director Jay Martin, who also worked as a storyboard artist on a number of major features (I Am Legend, Catching Fire). It looks like it might be engaging, with some solid action throughout. Fire it up. Here's the official trailer + poster for Jay Martin's 7 Minutes, also in high def from Apple: Plot synopsis:...

Update: DreamWorks Animation has clarified statemens by Korea’s Studio Mir which were erroneously reported in the local press late last week. The company is in the process of working with Studio Mir to finalize a possible production agreement for one series, and has not inked a deal with Studio Mir for the latter to produce as many as four cartoon TV series during the next four years. Dwa says it would be engaging the studio on a work for hire basis, meaning it would not be a co-producer and would not gain any interest in Dwa’s intellectual property. The Korean animation studio is known for 2D fantasy series The Legend Of Korra, which airs Stateside on Nickelodeon.

Former All My Children star Leven Rambin kicked her movie career into gear last year with a small but pivotal role in the blockbuster adaptation of the wildly popular Ya novel The Hunger Games. In the dystopian adventure, Rambin drew notice as the beautiful but deadly tribute Glimmer from District 1. Hot on the heels of the film's release, she booked the female lead in another Ya adaptation Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters and took to the big screen again in the surfing drama Chasing Mavericks. But this summer, she'll be getting gritty within two indie dramas. Deadline reports Rambin has signed on to star in both Seven Minutes and Walter. The first will mark the writing-directing debut of storyboard artist Jay Martin, who has worked on such high-action offerings as The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, Constantine and I Am Legend. Seven Minutes stars former Australian soap star Luke Mitchell as...

Of course, it's not the first time Perri's tune about letting go of a toxic relationship has been featured prominently on a television show. In fact, almost a year before Lea Michele gave "Jar of Hearts" a go during the prom-themed episode of "Glee" (named, appropriately enough, "Prom Queen"), Perri made a name for herself thanks to the reality competition series "So You Think You Can Dance."
But before "Glee" and "Sytycd" even came into the picture, Perri had a history that...
