Josh Hutcherson has joined the cast of an upcoming HBO series in a recasting!

The 32-year-old will take over a lead role in Rachel Sennott‘s untitled comedy series, Deadline has revealed.

Josh is taking over a role from Miles Robbins after the role underwent some changes after the pilot was filmed and the series was picked up.

Also set to star in the series are Jordan Firstman, Odessa A’Zion and True Whitaker, with Leighton Meester and TikTok star Quenlin Blackwell serving as guest stars.

The untitled series was first ordered as a pilot back in March 2024, and it was ordered to series in September.

Josh Hutcherson has joined Rachel Sennott’s upcoming HBO comedy series in a recasting, Variety has learned.

Hutcherson will take over one of the lead roles, which was played by Miles Robbins in the series’ pilot, as the role underwent changes after the pilot was shot and the show was greenlit. Sennott also stars in the untitled series along with Odessa A’zion, Jordan Firstman, and True Whitaker. Leighton Meester and Quenlin Blackwell guest star.

Hutcherson is best known for his starring role in the original “Hunger Games” films, and will reprise his role from “Five Nights at Freddy’s” in the sequel due out this fall. His other films roles include “The Disaster Artist,” “The Kids Are All Right,” and “Zathura.” Hutcherson also previously starred in the Hulu series “Future Man,” which ran for three seasons.

He is repped by Gersh, Tfc Management, and Hansen Jacobson.

Josh Hutcherson has been tapped as a lead in Rachel Sennott’s upcoming HBO comedy series.

Hutcherson joins the untitled show in a recasting, replacing Miles Robbins, who appeared in the pilot, after the character was altered during the writing process after the show was picked up to series by HBO, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.

Hutcherson, who is best known for starring as Peeta Mellark in “The Hunger Games” series, joins previously announced stars Sennott, who also writes and executive produces the show, as well as Odessa A’zion, Jordan Firstman (“Rotting in the Sun,” “Dave”) and True Whitaker (“Godfather of Harlem”). Leighton Meester and Quenlin Blackwell will also appear as guest stars.

Exclusive: Black Bear’s management arm has signed writer, director, actor, and producer Jordan Firstman, whose credits include Sundance 2023 black comedy Rotting in the Sun.

Firstman first rose to prominence by sharing short skits, impressions, and impersonations on Instagram Live during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He is also known for writing for Alia Shawkat’s Search Party and he was a consulting producer on Netflix’s animated series Big Mouth. As a filmmaker, Firstman directed the narrative short Men Don’t Whisper, which was shortlisted for the Grand Jury Prize at both Sundance and SXSW in 2018. He has also written for Comedy Central’s The Other Two and directed multiple episodes of the Peabody-nominated Sundance TV series This Close.

On the acting side, Firstman joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2022 via Ms. Marvel on Disney+. He also recently appeared in FX’s Dave and the Netflix comedy You People with Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy.

HBO Orders Tim Robinson Comedy ‘The Chair Company’ to Series

It doesn’t sound like HBO thinks Tim Robinson should leave, after all. In fact, the premium network just ordered a new series from the comedian, titled “The Chair Company.”

The half-hour comedy, which was granted a pilot order in April, follows a man named William Ronald Trosper (Robinson), who finds himself “investigating a far-reaching conspiracy” after an embarrassing incident at work.

Robinson and Zach Kanin, who created “I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson” together, will serve as writers and executive producers for “The Chair Company.” Adam McKay and Todd Schulman also executive produce for HyperObject Industries, with Igor Srubshchik serving as an EP and Andrew DeYoung directing and executive producing the pilot.

HBO Greenlights Rachel Sennotts New Comedy Series

HBO has reportedly given the green light to an untitled comedy series written by Rachel Sennott. Seeing Sennotts comedic talents, the premium cable channel ordered the pilot to film back in March, and it featured her as both creator and star. Directed by Lorene Scafaria, the series also boasts a talented cast including Odessa Azion, Miles Robbins, Jordan Firstman, and True Whitaker.

Sennott and Scafaria also executive produce alongside Emma Barrie and Aida Rodgers. As per Variety, Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO and Max comedy programming, is more than thrilled about moving forward with the project and has expressed her excitement by stating:

Rachel Sennott’s untitled comedy has been picked up to series at HBO, Variety has learned.
