The Darkness Outside Us is looking to move from the page to the screen.
Pageboy Productions, the shingle run by Oscar-nominated actor Elliot Page, Matt Jordan Smith and Tuck Dowrey, has optioned the rights to the 2021 YA sci-fi novel.
Author Eliot Schrefer’s The Darkness Outside Us is a love story about two young men from enemy countries put aboard a space craft on a rescue mission. Along the way, they learn they must work together, and that love may be the key to survival.

Music streaming giant Spotify has announced its decision to shut down some of its platform’s features in June, including web and mobile recording as well as ‘Music + Talk’ an experimental feature that allowed podcasters to include full licenced music tracks in their podcast episodes.
This comes along with the announcement of Spotify expanding its partnership with Riverside and integrating the popular podcast creation service’s tools into the platform for Podcasters.
“As part of that shift, we are discontinuing our web and mobile native creation tools, including recording and editing tools as well as our ‘Music + Talk’ format, beginning this June,” Spotify said in a blogpost.
Introduced in 2020, the feature allows creators to insert licenced, full-length tracks into episodes that run on Spotify.
However, according to Spotify spokesperson Jordan Smith, ‘Music + Talk’ did not have a significant influence outside of the music podcasting niche, reports The Verge.

Abu Dhabi, Jan 14 (Ians) Francesco Molinari, at 40, a three-time member of winning Ryder Cup teams, gave his young teammate, Nicolai Hojgaard, 21, a first-hand exhibition of team play as they won both their matches on the second day of the Hero Cup.
Combined with the half point they got from the first day, they stay unbeaten after two days two and a half points out of three.
The morning session was tied with both teams taking two and a half points each and in the afternoon it was still even till Robert MacIntyre, who had so far not lost a match, and Seamus Power lost 2&1 against the French-Italian pairing of Victor Perez and Guido Migliozzi.
That gave Continental Europe a 3-2 win in the session and took the total score to eight and a half against the six and a half points for Gb & I with 10 singles coming up on Sunday.

Abu Dhabi, Jan 14 (Ians) Thomas Pieters and Alex Noren playing for Continental Europe took down Great Britain & Ireland’s top pairing Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry 1-up in the opening match of the inaugural Hero Cup.
That was followed by another fine result from the Frenchman Antoine Rozner, who won the AfrBank Mauritius Open in his last start in 2022, and Thomas Detry beat Tyrrell Hatton and Jordan Smith 2-up at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
Those two wins played the key role as Continental Europe led Gb&i 3-2 at the end of the first day of the three-day event,
Seamus Power and Robert MacIntyre hit back big and gave Gb&i their only full point of the day beating Sepp Straka and Adrian Meronk 4&3 in the most one-sided match of the day.

Abu Dhabi, Jan 11 (Ians) Francesco Molinari and Tommy Fleetwood are excited to make their captaincy debuts as they prepare to lead their respective Continental Europe and Great Britain & Ireland teams at the inaugural Hero Cup at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
The duo, who forged an exceptional partnership at Le Golf National in 2018 in contributing four points from four towards Team Europe’s triumph in the Ryder Cup, will compete as playing captains this week as they go head-to-head by leading two teams which each contain an exciting mix of Major Champions, proven winners and some of the most promising young players in golf.
“I think both Tommy and I are lucky this week that we have really two good groups of professionals and guys who are motivated,” said Molinari. “They all come here trying to get ready to play some good golf, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and that obviously makes our job a lot easier.

Is the decade-long “The Voice” Instant Save curse about to be broken? If John Legend‘s Florida singer Omar Jose Cardona ends up winning Season 22 during the Tuesday, December 13 finale, he’ll make history as the first artist to prevail who was previously saved by social media users. Since the creation of the Instant Save twist in Season 6, none of its recipients have ever gone on to win “The Voice.” Britton Buchanan (Season 14) and Toneisha Harris (Season 18) came closest by each placing second behind their winners, but all of the other times the saved artist finished near the bottom of their respective finales.

Currently every single one of Gold Derby’s Experts predicts “The Crown” will win Best Drama Series at the upcoming 2021 Emmys. Their predictions are no doubt influenced by the Netflix regal show’s domination of the winter awards season, including at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice and SAG Awards. But it’s not a done deal just yet. After all, Emmy voters rarely agree with what the precursors tell them do — that’s part of what makes them so challenging to predict. Sure, “The Crown” Season 4 was arguably its best yet, as the focus shifted to Emma Corrin as Princess Diana, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles and Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher. But which other TV shows actually have a realistic chance of dethroning the odds-on front-runner? Let’s take a look at five more leading Best Drama Series Emmy contenders.

When traveling back in time to tell tales that are set in previous decades, or even centuries ago, scripted storytellers often take liberties in their world-building. They might use modern elements, from music to colloquialisms, to reflect how the show’s themes are still relevant to today’s audience and also give that audience something comfortable to latch onto. However, the same cannot be said for production designers.
“We want the audience to believe it and not be distracted by it,” says “Dickinson” production designer Neil Patel. “Partly because of the contemporary language and music, we are very mindful about being in period and very detailed about it, so we at least try to avoid any intentional anachronisms.”
“You are the guardian of the period, as it were,” adds “Bridgerton” production designer Will Hughes-Jones.

Vikings fans holding out to watch the back half of Vikings Season 6B on History Channel, we have some good news.
The cable network has announced the final episodes will begin airing Saturday, June 5th, at 8/7c.
Fans were thrown for a loop in December when Amazon Prime announced it would be taking the rights to Vikings to air on streaming and that it would be launching that month.
"Prime Video has already delighted Prime members with all five and a half seasons of Vikings," said Brad Beale, VP worldwide content licensing at Amazon, said in a statement at the time.
“On Dec. 30, Prime members in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Austria, and Ireland will be the first to learn the fates of the beloved characters as the epic drama concludes in the final 10 episodes."

The first 79 episodes of the Vikings TV show aired on History. Then, late last year, it was announced that the final 10 episodes of the series would be released on Amazon Prime Video first, on December 30th. Regular cable viewers would have to wait. Well, the long wait is finally over. History has quietly announced that the final episodes of Vikings will begin airing on Saturday, June 5th, at 8/7c.

When “Stranger Things” won the Screen Actors Guild award for drama ensemble in 2017, it joined the 2006 winner “Lost” as the odd ones out in a sea of standard dramatic fare that typically wins this race. Their sci-fi story elements make them stick out among repeat winners like “ER,” “Mad Men” and “Downton Abbey.” This year we might be adding a third sci-fi-adjacent drama to the winners’ table if “Lovecraft Country” has anything to say about it.
In order to take the prize for Best TV Drama Ensemble, the “Lovecraft Country” cast will have to topple last year’s winner “The Crown,” which also stands above the other cast nominees with the most individual nominations (four). Also contending are two shows each with one prior nomination in the field: “Ozark” and “Better Call Saul,” both first nominated in 2019. Last year, “Succession” became the fourth drama series from HBO to win the top trophy at the Golden Globes, following “The Sopranos” (1999), “Six Feet Under” (2001) and “Boardwalk Empire” (2010). Missing from that list are some of the most heralded TV shows of all time, including “Game of Thrones” and “Westworld.” In this year’s Globe nominations, the paycaster was recognized for “Lovecraft Country,” the horror series based on writer H. Vikings Season 6 Episode 17
“Of course I do not trust them; they lie about everything.”
While there’s little question it’s King Harald’s mission to conquer Wessex that garners the bulk of our attention in this episode, it’s the final gasp of Ubbe and the Greenland survivors that captures the indomitable spirit of the Vikings. During Vikings six year run, we’ve witnessed unspeakably horrific acts both on the battlefield and behind closed doors, but “The Raft of Medusa” demands we glimpse another dark side of the human condition that transcends the physical plane and puts on display the human cost of the desire for greatness.
It’s easy to forget the consistent excellence Vikings displays in both its extended battle sequences and individual combat fights, and while the brief three minute skirmish between Ivar’s troops and Wessex’s soldiers continues that trend,...

This Vikings season 6 part two review is based on all 10 episodes and contains no spoilers.
Vikings has always been Ragnar Lothbrok’s (Travis Fimmel) story. First, we witnessed the rise of the man himself from farmer to visionary to earl to king to legend. Post-Ragnar, the show became an exploration of how Ragnar’s legend suffused and inhabited his sons, and the consequences of its interpretation upon enemies, frenemies, kith, kin and Kings the world over. And, now, the saga comes to an end with the second half of Vikings swansong sixth season, ten episodes that drip with all the blood, battles, tears, seers, fears, and philosophy you’ve come to expect from the History Channel’s flagship show (though this season will premiere on Amazon).
It’s tough to write a spoiler-free review of a show like Vikings, especially here at the show’s conclusion where it won’t...

HBO Max’s Green Lantern TV series officially got the green light this month, with Warner Bros. Television announcing the big budget show was moving forward by unveiling the full lineup of Lanterns who will be appearing in it. While Hal Jordan and John Stewart were not listed, a range of iconic GLs from the comics were. Namely, Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz and Alan Scott, the original Golden Age Lantern.
We’ve yet to receive any casting announcements, but insider Grace Randolph has now shared what she’s heard from her sources. The Beyond the Trailer host revealed that she’s been told “a blonde handsome actor from a very popular HBO show that ended recently” is in the running to play Scott in the series. Randolph’s guess is that this is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Aka Game of Thrones‘ Jaime Lannister, and that seems like a pretty good bet.

The following contains spoilers for Lovecraft Country.
We first meet the body that’ll come to be known as Hillary Davenport in “Whitey’s on the Moon”, the second episode of Lovecraft Country. The woman, Dell (Jamie Neumann), guards Ardham’s village jail food storage with two aggressive hounds, while waxing poetic about those meddling “Blacks.” We only see her for a brief few minutes but her disdain for Tic, Leti, and George is clear. The next time we see her in episode 5, she’s waking up in William Braithwhite’s bed, scared, and confused. When she looks in the mirror, she doesn’t recognize herself. She’s Ruby (Wunmi Mosaku).
At some point in the night, William (Jordan Patrick Smith) dosed Ruby with a magical potion that allows her to transform into a white woman. The transformation is purely physical, and utterly painful—”like being unmade”—so she retains...

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Episode 105 of “Lovecraft Country,” titled “Strange Case.”)
Sunday’s “Lovecraft Country” was a day-in-the-limelight episode for Wunmi Mosaku’s Ruby Baptiste that exposed a new side to Leti’s (Jurnee Smollett) half-sister and a new side of the wealthy and mysterious Christina Braithwhite (Abbey Lee). Well, actually, Christina’s other half is a character we’ve seen since Episode 1, but only now learned is actually Christina transformed: William (played by Jordan Patrick Smith).
The big Christina/William reveal comes at the end of the hour “Strange Case,” which is all about Ruby and the choices she makes after William gives her a potion with the ability to change her from a Black woman into a white woman, so that she can see what her life would be like in a very different pair of shoes.

Atticus “Tic” Freeman, the young Korean War veteran hero of HBO’s fantastic — in every sense of the word — new drama Lovecraft Country, has a weakness for pulp stories. As he puts it, “I love that the heroes get to go on adventures in other worlds, defy insurmountable odds, defeat the monster, save the day.” But he’s also painfully aware that these tales rarely have room for someone who looks like him. His favorite author, the 1920s horror stylist H.P. Lovecraft, was also a vile bigot who once wrote...

Fans of History’s Nordic drama Vikings are used to waiting patiently for the series to return for its next installment, but with Covid-19 raging globally, any news of a return for the final ten episodes is certainly welcome. And while creator, writer, and showrunner Michael Hirst didn’t reveal anything concrete about the conclusion of season six, his appearance on a Comic-Con@Home 2020 panel gave the show’s followers a chance to reminisce along with past and present cast members Travis Fimmel (Ragnar), Katheryn Winnick (Lagertha), Alex Ludwig (Bjorn), Jordan Patrick Smith (Ubbe), and Clive Standen (Rollo).

This year’s virtual Comic-Con@Home has announced its schedule for Friday, July 24. The highlights are below.
The virtual event replaces the annual San Diego Comic-Con, the largest fan convention in North America, which was to be held July 22–26 at the San Diego Convention Center, until the Covid-19 pandemic forced its cancellation.
In June, Comic-Con International — the non-profit organization that oversees Sdcc and its sister event, WonderCon in Anaheim, Calif. — announced it was moving forward with the virtual event on the same dates. This time, however, the event is free and open to all.
Friday’s events include panels for all three of AMC’s “Walking Dead” series, Hulu’s new Marvel series “Helstrom,” and creatives like Charlize Theron, Joss Whedon, and Robert Kirkman.
The Comic-Con@Home schedule — including Wednesday, July 22 and Thursday, July 23 — is being announced daily through Sunday.
All times are Pacific Daylight.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Valhalla Can Wait,” the eighth episode of the sixth season of “Vikings.”
When “Vikings” creator Michael Hirst came to terms with killing off the fan-favorite Lagertha character, he knew he wanted to bring portrayer Katheryn Winnick back into the creative fold at least once more — and so her directorial debut on the show was born.
“Time is so precious and we need more strong women characters on television — and it’s not just that it has to be written and acted, it comes from the producers and the studio heads and by hiring more women filmmakers and grooming more female directors,” Winnick tells Variety. “To be a minority is such a shame considering the population is 50-50. We need to be able to grow more female writers and directors and give them the opportunity to get behind the lens,...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Death and the Serpent,” the sixth episode of the sixth season of “Vikings.”
When Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) first appeared on History’s “Vikings” she was a character ahead of her time. She fought for equality, battled alongside the men as a famous shield maiden, and never compromised herself even when it meant losing Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) to another woman.
That trailblazing portrayal was a coveted role in the pre-#MeToo era, when messy female characters with breadth and ambition were rarer and often shot with the male gaze. In turn, Lagertha helped bring female viewers to History and became so beloved with fans that creator Michael Hirst received death threats telling him not to kill off the character ahead of the show’s sixth and final season.
Lagertha went on to outlive all other original series regulars, but her...

Vikings Season 6 Episode 1
“I no longer wish to be famous.”
Welcome back Vikings fans. The long wait has ended, and the final stage of Michael Hirst’s history inspired drama that began with a simple farmer and his wife so many years ago sets out to complete its tale. Noticeably light on action, “New Beginnings” follows two radically different brothers as Bjorn Ironside assumes control of Kattegat, and Ivar the Boneless meets his match in Russia. In the end, however, it appears the little village built and nurtured by Ragnar Lothbrok will, once again, become the focal point of the first half of the final season.
Followers of Vikings have had plenty of time now to come to terms with the fact that...

It's almost time to say goodbye to Vikings!
History has revealed that the sixth and final season of the hit drama series will get underway Wednesday, December 4, at 9/8c.
Even more exciting is that History is giving fans a two-hour premiere, making the long wait between seasons more worthwhile.
"For the past five seasons the Vikings have explored and conquered the known world, from early raids in England and the fierce battles of the Great Heathen Army to the heart-stopping death of Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), now the epic saga sails to monumental lengths throughout 20 compelling, definitive episodes," reads the logline from the cable network.
The 20-episode sixth season will air in two parts, meaning the first ten will kick off later this year, while the remaining ten episodes will air in 2020.
Additionally, series regular Katheryn Winnick is set to direct one episode in the final season, marking her directorial debut.
