On Friday at a rally for Alabama Republican Senate candidate Luther Strange, Donald Trump said he thought NFL team owners should fire players who protest standing for the national anthem by taking a knee or sitting down.
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, you’d say, ‘Get that son of a b—h off the field right now. Out! He’s fired,” Trump said.
“For a week, be the most popular person in this country. Because that’s a total disrespect of our heritage,” Trump continued. “That’s a total...

Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio has Sean Smith's back -- sorta. Del Rio was asked about Smith's arrest over an alleged July 4 beatdown of his sister's boyfriend and produced a possible defense for the cornerback. "He was defending his sister," Del Rio told SFGate.com ... "Obviously, things occurred that were taken issue with, so he’s having to defend himself right now.” TMZ Sports broke the story ... [[tmz:video id="0_vuq4eb8i"]] Oakland Raiders star Marshawn Lynch was asked point-blank by the media about his national anthem protest -- but by the way he bobbed, weaved and clowned the questions, you'd think he was Floyd Mayweather. When asked to address the "elephant in the room" ... Beast Mode responded with an elephant metaphor -- something about how elephants are scared of mice. When asked how he felt about the way Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio responded to the anthem protest,...

Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch opted to sit during the playing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Saturday’s preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, making him the latest pro athlete to protest racism and police brutality by not standing during the national anthem.
The NFL player, in his first game since coming out of retirement, was photographed sitting on top of an orange cooler holding a banana as the song played.
While Lynch did not speak about his decision not to stand, Raiders coach Jack Del Rio said he spoke with the running back.

Through his entire NFL career, Marshawn Lynch hasn’t been afraid to go against the grain, whether it’s his refusal to speak to the press on Super Bowl media day or his outspoken support of Colin Kaepernick’s decision to kneel during the “Star-Spangled Banner.” On Saturday, during an NFL preseason game and just hours after the violence in Charlottesville, Lynch did it again by continuing his tradition of sitting down during the national anthem. Oakland Raiders coach Jack Del Rio told reporters that while he personally believes in standing for the national anthem, he respects Lynch’s decision and called it a.

The Oakland Raiders are going to need a strong draft if they want to maintain momentum and stand any chance of sustaining a position outside of the bottom pack in 2015.
However, there are exciting times ahead for the west coast side if new head coach Jack Del Rio can blend old and new talent into one effective team, with the foundations already laid for a brighter season this time around.
Young quarterback Derek Carr came out of his rookie season with some credit, racking up 3,270 yards and 21 touchdowns despite a lack of targets to aim at, meaning that with a good crop of wide receivers in this year’s draft, it has to be a priority position.
Carr was the 36th pick from the last draft, with the Raiders using up their 1st Round (5th overall) pick on linebacker Khalil Mack, who has been equally influential among the Raiders’ ranks.

Your weekly NFL Recap, in the form of stupid pictures: Steelers 23, Dolphins 22 Fewer sights in football are as legitimately terrifying as Ben Roethlisberger’s touchdown metal horns: Given his recent transpirings, let’s maybe hold off on any hand gestures that in any way resemble the shocker? Thanks. As for my opinion on the controversial call at the end of this game, you can read it in full here. Figured I’d leave it off Bwe so we don’t lose Miami readership. Unless they click that link too. Whoops! Still figuring out this intra net. Falcons 39, Bengals 32 The Falcons became the first Nfc team to reach 5 wins, while a third straight Bengals loss has tensions riding high in Cincinnati: Redskins 17, Bears 14 Chicago lost their second straight home game after Jay Cutler failed to execute Mike Martz’s new offensive gameplan: Patriots 23, Chargers 20 There’s wearing the visiting team’s jersey to a stadium,...

Your NFL Week 4 Recap, in the form of wacky photos, dumb Photoshops, and incredibly in-depth game film analysis: Broncos 26, Titans 20 Raciest moment of the week: Titans defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil gave the finger to a ref after a call he didn’t like, as seen here on SportsCenter: It’s bad enough the dude has a super-blurry right arm, but now you’re gonna fine him for it? Pretty cruel there, NFL. Even if his blurry gesture is in fact plagiarizing the Aerosmith “Cryin” video. Falcons 16, 49ers 14 This game topped the Raiders’ missed field goal from Week 3 as the most painful loss of the season; up by 1 point with under 2 minutes left, San Francisco cornerback Nate Clements intercepted a pass which would’ve sealed the game, but Falcons receiver Roddy White caught him from behind and stripped the ball, the Falcons recovered, then drove back down the field for a winning field goal.
