The “Project Runway” contestant who competed on Season 4 in 2007 and came in fourth place died on Sept. 5 from a heart attack. The official cause of death has not yet been revealed although he had suffered dramatic weight-loss in recent months after struggling with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Ibs). The former Project Runway and Project Runway: All Stars contestant died Tuesday morning outside Atlanta. He was 39.

In the wake of his death, several stars took to social media to commemorate the late fashion designer, including his good friend and celebrity client Sherri Shepherd.

“My heart hurts so much today bc I lost my friend, my little brother @mychaelknight,” she wrote on Instagram. “I was a fan of Mychael’s since I first saw him on #ProjectRunway & when @jawnmurray finally put us together, it was a match made in #heaven.

According to Obvious, Knight died at 7:25 Tuesday morning outside Atlanta, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Knight became known in the fashion world after placing fourth during season three of Project Runway in 2006. The designer, who won the Fan Favorite Award, went on to launch his clothing line in 2007, as well as design for Starbucks. In 2008, he launched his female and male lingerie label, Kitty & Dick, and his unisex fragrance, MajK.

We're told he'd been getting treatment for intestinal issues when he passed at around 7:30 Am. While it's still unclear what caused his death, a few months ago Mychael revealed he'd been battling Ibs -- irritable bowl syndrome -- and made it clear it was wreaking havoc on his immune system.

If it were up to us, "Project Runway" would never be "out," it would just play on a loop 24/7/365.

Sadly, Season 14 will say auf wiedersehen on Thursday, November 5th, so now seems like a good time to take stock and rank the previous 13 seasons, with the expectation that the 2015 season will probably fall somewhere in the middle of the pack once it's done. (Tim Gunn "hated" Season 14, but there have been worse.)
