Update, 1:31 Pm: Comcast boss Brian Roberts needs to show Andy Cohen the door, lawyers for Brandi Glanville are demanding.
“NBC continues to protect those in power,” Bryan Freedman and Mark Geragos declared Friday in a response to an apology of sorts from the Watch What Happens Live host to the Real Housewives vet after Glanville publicly accused Cohen of sexually harassing her.
“Brian Roberts, it’s time to step in like you did with Andy Lack and Jeff Shell, and stop the cover-up and do the right thing,” the lawyers said. “Your legacy and decency demands it.”
The call-out out to the Comcast CEO is clearly meant to generate a top-level reaction and media spotlight. Also, invoking the names of the former NBC News chairman Lack, who had a scandal-riddled tenure until he was bounced in 2020, the scandalized former NBCUniversal CEO Shell, who exited in 2023 after an inappropriate relationship with a co-worker,...

Brian Roberts said in a recent interview that he ‘asked the NFL to trust us’ to make an exclusive Wild Card game a success.
If NFL fans who fear a future of pay-per-view games had a problem with the placement of a 2023-24 Wild Card game exclusively on Peacock, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts hasn’t heard about it. Speaking with Front Office Sports about a wide range of sports topics, Roberts was highly proud of his company’s efforts in streaming the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins, and he had a blunt warning for those who would prefer sports remain only on linear TV.
“We took the risk…” Roberts said about the Peacock-exclusive Wild Card game. Roberts also spoke about his excitement regarding the upcoming Summer Olympics, which will stream on Peacock. The CEO also touched briefly on continuing discussions that Comcast will pursue NBA rights.

The NFL delivered for NBCUniversal streamer Peacock on Saturday as the exclusive Wild Card playoff game between the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs drew an average audience of about 23 million viewers.
NBCUniversal shelled out megabucks to secure the first-ever NFL playoff game to run exclusively on a streaming platform, with the exception of broadcast TV coverage on the NBC affliates in Miami and Kansas City. NBCUniversal reported Sunday that game viewership peaked at an average of 24.6 million in the game’s second quarter, from 9:15 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Et.
The game that ended with a 26-7 Chiefs victory also had the benefit of a Taylor Swift appearance, as the superstar was on hand in frigid temperatures in Kansas City to cheer on the team of her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
NBCUniversal asserted Sunday that the game was “the biggest live streamed event in U.

The most consequential entertainment business story of 2024 was kickstarted by two pro operators having a pre-Christmas meal. The Dec. 19 lunch between Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish, held at Paramount’s New York office, instantly ignited a firestorm of “what ifs,” as the future of the storied studio was suddenly in question.
Is Paramount for sale? Or is controlling shareholder National Amusements? Or both? But the future of Paramount — and for that matter Wbd — may be defined by a cast of characters straight out of central casting: A trio of scions forging their own path in the footsteps of their mogul fathers (Shari Redstone, David Ellison, Brian Roberts); a pair of self-made billionaire investors who find their fortunes tied up in the debt-laden companies at the heart of the deal (John Malone, Warren Buffett); and a handful of professional executives seeking moguldom — or at...

Last week, former President Donald Trump posted to Truth Social, “MSNBC (Msdnc) uses Free government approved airwaves, and yet it is nothing but a 24-hour hit job on Donald J. Trump and the Republican Party for purposes of Election Interference.”
He continued, “Brian Roberts, its Chairman and CEO, is a slimeball who has been able to get away with these constant attacks for years. It is the world’s biggest political contribution to the Radical Left Democrats who, by the way, are destroying our Country. Our so-called ‘government’ should come down hard on them and make them pay for their illegal political activity. Much more to come, watch!”
Journalists and pundits have swiftly condemned his remarks and have cautioned the former president’s clear commitment to the restriction of press freedoms and his retaliation against those who voice dissent.
Atlantic writer Brian Klaas wrote, “Trump continues his deranged authoritarian outbursts,...

The Writers Guild of America is opening up a new front against the studios as its strike continues, as WGA West President Meredith Stiehm sent an open letter to Netflix and Comcast shareholders calling on them to reject the pay packages for those companies’ top executives that are up for a vote.
Netflix is set to have its annual shareholders meeting Thursday (June 1), with Comcast, parent company of NBCUniversal, holding its shareholder meeting on June 7. Over the past month, the WGA has made studio CEOs a major target in its strike, releasing infographics that outline the combined $773 million in pay received by the top executives at Hollywood legacy and streaming studios, including Netflix former co-ceo and current executive chairman Reed Hastings ($40.8 million) and co-ceo Ted Sarandos ($38.2 million) and Comcast CEO Brian Roberts ($30 million).
“Approval of this compensation package is inappropriate in light of the ongoing WGA writers’ strike and the...

The Writers Guild of America is taking its attack on over-the-top corporate executive pay from the picket lines to the board rooms.
On Tuesday, WGA West president Meredith Stiehm sent letters to major shareholders of Netflix and NBCUniversal owner Comcast, urging them to vote against each company’s “Say on Pay” proposal, which asks shareholders to sign off on those company’s prior-year pay packages at their respective annual meetings.
As The Hollywood Reporter noted in its annual tally of Hollywood CEO pay, while compensation was generally down in 2022 from 2021 (with some exceptions), top entertainment execs still earned substantial pay packages, and the optics are bad given the strike and the continued cost-cutting across the industry.
Comcast CEO Brian Roberts received a pay package valued at more than $32 million last year. Former NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell, meanwhile, had to forfeit some $43 million in compensation after being let go for cause...
