Director and series creator Sam Levinson has once again found himself at the centre of controversy.
The screenwriter behind HBO’s gritty teen drama series Euphoria is wrapping on his new show, The Idol, starring Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd.
While Levinson’s projects have contained content known to push boundaries, his forthcoming drama series has reportedly gone too far, according to production sources who spoke to Rolling Stone.
Teased by HBO Max as a darker and even more risqué Euphoria, The Idol follows troubled pop star Jocelyn (Depp), who finds herself in the “sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood” with sordid cult leader Tedros (The Weeknd).
With anonymous claims to the outlet comparing Levinson’s new story to “torture porn” and alleging the set’s environment was chaotic and poorly managed, the director is under scrutiny again.

[This story contains spoilers to the season two finale of HBO’s Euphoria, “All My Life, My Heart Has Yearned for a Thing I Cannot Name.”]
Angus Cloud was walking down the street in Manhattan when he got cast for Euphoria. Though he had attended Oakland School of the Arts, he had no acting credits to his name. At the time, he was working at a restaurant in Brooklyn. But the casting agent who approached him eyed him for the role of Fezco, the easy-to-root-for drug dealer on the HBO high school melodrama and a part that has turned Cloud into a breakout star.
“Apparently, he was supposed to die in the first couple of episodes,” Cloud tells The Hollywood Reporter when speaking the day after the season two finale and after another day on set, this time for a magazine photoshoot. But creator Sam Levinson changed his mind and kept Fez around. Not only did he survive the first episodes, but...

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers for the Season 2 finale of “Euphoria,” which aired on HBO on Feb. 27.
Played by 15-year-old Javon Walton, Ashtray is simultaneously the cutest and the scariest thing about Sam Levinson’s “Euphoria.” The unofficially adopted brother of Fezco (Angus Cloud) is a whiz kid when it comes to selling drugs, converting black market cryptocurrency and predicting the moves of the shady figures that haunt his suburb. No character in “Euphoria” goes an episode without incurring new trauma, but Ashtray is more hardened than even Fez and Rue (Zendaya), because he was the earliest to be robbed of a childhood. After a mix of drugs, abandonment and violence forced an elementary school-aged Fez into the position of raising baby Ash by himself, Ash grew up with a deep well of anger and a fearlessness of violence. Twice in the show’s second season, that manifests in...

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers for the Season 2 finale of “Euphoria,” which aired on HBO on Feb. 27.
Angus Cloud’s Fezco has had quite the journey this season of “Euphoria.” The sophomore season of the Sam Levinson show for HBO saw Fez picking up the pieces after his brother Ashtray (Javon Walton) killed drug dealer Mouse (Meeko Gattuso) with a hammer to the head. Following a frightening (and naked) encounter with soft-spoken drug lord Laurie (Martha Kelly), Fez took in heroin addict Faye (Chloe Cherry), the girlfriend of Mouse’s associate Custer (Tyler Chase).
Whispers about Mouse’s death finally caught up with the brothers as Fez saw his life go up in smoke (literally). While he prepared to attend love interest Lexi’s play, bouquet of roses in hand, Custer showed up to demand answers — while recording their conversation for the police.

We felt pretty confident someone would die at the end of "Euphoria" season two. We weren't sure who it would be - maybe Nate (Jacob Elordi), maybe Fezco (Angus Cloud), or maybe someone totally different. It turns out, it's someone different, and yet not surprising in the slightest. It all comes down to an intense scene in Fez's house that results in a rain shower of bullets.
Who Dies in the "Euphoria" Season 2 Finale?
Earlier in the season, Custer (Tyler Chase) tells Faye (Chloe Cherry) that he's talking to the cops about Mouse's (Meeko) death, which Ashtray (Javon Walton) is responsible for. It's hard to tell at first what Faye might do with this information. Custer is her boyfriend, after all, but Fez has been there for her in a way no one else has. Would she give Fez a heads up that Custer is working with the police to arrest him and Ash,...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Euphoria” Season 2, Episode 8, “All My Life, My Heart Has Yearned for a Thing I Cannot Name.”]
Season 2 of “Euphoria” is at odds with itself. Few sections work together. Fewer still stand up on their own. Sam Levinson’s follow-up to his Emmy-winning HBO series can be not-so-cleanly broken down into three components: There’s the harrowing parts, which cover pretty much everything with Rue (Zendaya), from bone-chilling peril (like narrowly escaping a life in the sex trade) to soul-shattering despair (her relapse). Then there’s the soapy stuff, including Nate (Jacob Elordi) and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Maddie (Alexa Demie), who are stuck in a “love” triangle, as well as Jules (Hunter Schafer) and Elliot (Dominic Fike), who are new friends holding damning secrets.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read unless you have watched the Season 2 finale of “Euphoria” on HBO.
And just like that, Season 2 of HBO’s “Euphoria” has come to an end.
In Sunday night’s finale, titled “All My Life, My Heart Has Yearned for a Thing I Cannot Name,” reality morphed with Lexi’s (Maude Apatow) play as the audience saw its second act. The fourth wall was broken as Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) strutted onstage and gave Lexi a piece of her mind, leading to an all-out fight with Maddy (Alexa Demie) and Kat (Barbie Ferreira). In an explosive scene involving a S.W.A.T. raid, Fezco (Angus Cloud) is accidentally shot by Ashtray (Javon Walton), which leads Ash to presumably kill himself. Meanwhile, Nate (Jacob Elordi) decides to turn his father, Cal (Eric Dane), into the police for child pornography, and Rue (Zendaya) and Jules (Hunter Schafer) finally talk after the...

Warning: This story contains spoilers for the Euphoria finale. We always knew this day would come. Ashtray (Javon Walton) may be the younger one of the two, but his size has never stopped him from protecting Fezco (Angus Cloud). It's a recurring theme in Euphoria: Fezco finds himself at odds with some meathead, like Cal (Eric Dane), and Ash steps in with gun/knife in hand to ward off the attack. And normally, Fez is able to stop him before it goes too far. But this time, in the season two finale, Ash didn't even wait to get the go-ahead from Fez. He simply shoved a knife in Custer's (Tyler Chase) throat before anyone could stop him. As they prepare for the police to invade...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details about the Euphoria season finale “All My Life, My Heart Has Yearned for a Thing I Cannot Name.”
The turbulent highs of Euphoria came crashing down on Sunday with a season ender that bid farewell to Fezco’s (Angus Cloud) ever-loyal partner in crime, Ashtray (Javon Walton).
After Lexi’s (Maude Apatow) juicy, tell-all school play left romances and friendships hanging by a thread, Sam Levinson’s HBO drama picks up with the tension at Fezco’s, where impending violence awaits. Custer (Tyler Chase) says the cops found Mouse’s body, the dealer Ash murdered at the beginning of the season. Before it becomes a bigger issue, Ash stabs Custer in the throat.
Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), after being blown off by Nate (Jacob Elordi), storms the school auditorium in a quiet rage, as the play continues. She makes her way to the stage and...

Euphoria‘s Season 2 finale is around the corner, and our anxiety is at an all-time high as the Fezco’s (Angus Cloud) fate hangs in the balance. After introducing Part One of Lexi’s (Maude Apatow) school play in the penultimate episode, Fez was gearing up to stop by and sit “front row” to support his girl, but hopes were being dashed once Custer (Tyler Chase) showed up. While Fez was getting dressed, Ashtray (Javon “Wanna” Walton) couldn’t help but notice Faye’s (Chloe Cherry) odd behavior once Custer arrived. (Credit: HBO) There was an intense feeling that something was about to go down, whether Custer’s informant gig is setting up Fez for an arrest, or Ashtray will act out violently — anything is possible. The most alarming and concerning detail comes from the finale’s promo in which Fez is seen laying on the ground in his suit...

Faye (Chloe Cherry) has been a bit of a mystery throughout "Euphoria" season two. She's been lying low with Fezco (Angus Cloud) and Ashtray (Javon Walton) since the beginning of the season, mostly keeping to herself. But her extended presence is becoming more and more foreboding with each passing episode. After all, she must be here for a reason, and frankly, we're starting to get concerned about what that reason might be. In season two, episode six, Faye's drug-dealing boyfriend, Custer (Tyler Chase), shows up and shares some not-so-great news about Fez and Ash with her. Then, in episode seven, he shows up to Fez's house acting super suspicious right before Lexi's play (the play Fez inexplicably never makes it to despite his best-laid plans). So the big question is: does Faye really betray Fez?

Four teen girls teeter on the precipice of uncertain futures in Nick Richey’s debut feature, “Low Low,” as the budding auteur’s realistic style nicely complements the precise performances, giving each actor an empathetic path into her character’s psyche. While the narrative occasionally falters, the visceral way in which the writer-director captures his subjects’ triumphs and travails provides an unflinching portrait of modern teens on the fringes of society.
In the final days of high school, Ryan (Ali Richey) is understandably worried about graduating. There aren’t many prospects for a working-class teen in Vancouver, Wash.. Her troubled home life, beset by a contentious relationship with her single mom Sylvia (Elaine Hendrix) and her mom’s revolving door of slacker boyfriends, has caused her to act out — a rebellion fueled by angst, drugs and booze. Surprisingly, she’s managed to show great potential with her schoolwork, impressing her teacher Dr.

One of the main attractions at this year’s Comicpalooza in Houston—in addition to appearances by the likes of Patrick Stewart, Michelle Rodriguez and Danny Trejo—was the three-day Dollar Baby Film Festival organized by Shawn S. Lealos.
What’s a “Dollar Baby?” It’s a short film based on a Stephen King story or novella. For decades, King has allowed people to acquire limited film rights to an available story for one dollar. The resulting movies cannot be released on the internet or shown at for-profit venues, which limits their availability to festivals like this one. The filmmakers can include their movies on clip reels as calling cards. King also gets a copy of the finished product. The quality of these adaptations is all over the map, but the increased availability of affordable digital cameras and video editing software means that the community is growing by leaps and bounds.
Whether you read The Walking Dead comic book series or not, there may have been a bit of confusion about the new characters that appeared in The Walking Dead‘s mid-season finale. Here’s some more information on the characters and the actors who play them:
Tyreese: Played by Chad L. Coleman (The Wire). In the comic book series, Tyreese is traveling with his daughter (Julie) and her boyfriend (Chris). He meets up with Rick before the events of Hershel’s farm and was a major asset to the group.
Sasha: Played by Sonequa Martin-Green (The Good Wife). Sasha is Tyreese’s sister and is not a character that appeared in the comic book series.
Allen: Played by Daniel Thomas May (The Vampire Diaries). Allen first appeared at the Atlanta campsite with his wife and twin sons.
Ben: Played by Tyler Chase (The Between). Ben is one of Allen’s...

There were so many reunions on "The Walking Dead" midseason finale -- Merle and Daryl! The Governor and Michonne! Michonne and Andrea! Rick and Shane! -- but nobody was feeling good.
Life is still miserable for the survivors, and that's good news for us as the action-packed hour demonstrated over and over again.
So much happened that we can't possibly cover it all, so we'll break out the 8 best moments from "Made to Suffer":
8) Axel (Lew Temple) hits on Carol (Melissa McBride)
Sure, it was just a little moment of comic relief, but we appreciate all the laughs we can get on "Walking Dead." Carol putting an end to Axel's creepy flirtation with Beth (Emily Kinney) was funny enough. But the incredulous look on Carol's face when Axel explained he wouldn't bother flirting with her because she's a lesbian was even better. His response when he finds out the truth: "You're not?...

Lawless, for all its flaws, delivers a very entertaining trip through a particular landmark of time and space. Based on true events, and with John Hillcoat at the helm, the film gives us a glimpse at life during Prohibition-era Virginia, and the strange circumstances the nation’s dry time created in many parts of the country.
The film ultimately suffers from what seems to be a certain odd spin on having delusions of grandeur by screenwriter Nick Cave, who isn’t satisfied to simply tell the story, but has to push many elements beyond the point of interest and what is legitimately believable and watchable.
Still, that opening should be read too harshly, because the problems I had with the film didn’t detract overly from the general enjoyment to be found. I suspect most will have a good time with this one, and even the film doesn’t ultimately impress,...

We might not have raved about it in our podcast review, but there is a lot to like about this one. It’s a pretty good ride, even if it does slow a little oddly in the middle, and best of all, the special features are bound to be worth the price on their own.
There isn’t that much info on the special features yet, but even what we know already is going to make it one you want to get hold of, even if you didn’t love the film. Plus, I don’t care if you like the movie all that much or not, you’ve got to watch Tom Hardy take on this role.
Based On A True Story From Matt Bondurant’s Novel The Wettest County In The World, This Gripping Tale of Brotherhood, Bootlegging, and Murder Heads To Retail On November 27, 2012!
