Olivia Williams has given acclaimed performances in “Rushmore,” “The Sixth Sense” and “An Education.” She recently appeared as Camilla Parker Bowles in the final two seasons of Netflix’s popular drama series “The Crown.” But for many people, the British actor will always be Felicity from the Season 4 finale of “Friends.” Williams once called guest starring on the NBC sitcom “harrowing,” and she recently opened up to The Independent about the reasons why it wasn’t the best experience in a recent interview.
“Gosh. Well, just as an example, I was taken to the studio in a shared car with a wonderful actress whose character, I think, was called ‘Old Woman’,” Williams said, noting this actor was “distinguished” and “very good” but “at one point, a producer – who shall remain nameless – just yelled at her: ‘You’re not funny!’ And she didn’t come back the next day. So that was alarming.

The new season will also pick up some lingering threads from season 1, including more developments in the ongoing saga of crooked financier Carl Rogers. Here’s where we left Harry, Maddie, and Honey Chandler at the end of season 1.

Harry Bosch is back on the case — though a different kind of one — as Bosch: Legacy hits Freevee (fka IMDb TV, Amazon’s free streaming hub) this Friday.
A spinoff of Prime Video’s seven-season adaptation of Michael Connelly’s Bosch novels, Bosch: Legacy again stars Titus Welliver as the former LAPD detective, who a year-and-a-half after the events of the previous series’ finale is finding work here and there as a private detective. There are some rivalries so ingrained in sports history that their names roll off the tongue: Borg-McEnroe, Federer-Nadal, Sharapova-s. Williams, Ali vs. Frazier. When it comes to the NBA, no pair tops Magic Johnson (Quincy Isaiah) and Larry Bird (Sean Patrick Small), the rookies of their respective teams in the 1979-1980 season.
Up until Episode 7: “Invisible Man,” Bird’s presence in “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty” has been limited to a couple seconds at a time. As 1979 draws to a close, it’s time for Johnson and Bird to pick up what they started at March’s NCAA championship game, where the former’s team Michigan State famously defeated the latter’s team, Indiana State.
However, the rivalry goes beyond these two individuals. From Lakers owner Jerry Buss (John C. Reilly) and Celtics general manager Red Auerbach’s (Michael Chiklis’) contentious first meeting, their teams have...

"From here on out, we are playing to win!" HBO has revealed the full-length official trailer for Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, a new series about the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team. This is a dramatic series, not a doc, and is also the project that Will Ferrell and Adam McKay fought about. The first episode is directed by Adam McKay, who is (of course) a big time Lakers fan. The series tells the story of the rise of basketball Hall Of Famer Magic Johnson (Quincy Isaiah) and the lengths that one man, Jerry Buss (John C. Reilly), will go in pursuit of securing a basketball dynasty. The cast includes all kinds of fun names: Sean Patrick Small as Larry Bird, Sally Field as Jessie Buss, Adrien Brody as Pat Riley, Mike Epps as Pryor, Max E. Williams as Lakers fan Jack Nicholson, Carina Conti as Paula Adbul,...

HBO has debuted the first teaser trailer for Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, a new series about the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team. Exclusive: Adam McKay’s HBO L.A. Lakers drama series is rounding out its cast. Mike Epps (The Upshaws), Carina Conti (The Last Tycoon), Max E. Williams (Dreamland) and Mariama Diallo (Random Acts of Flyness) will recur in the series based on Jeff Pearlman’s book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s. Written by Max Borenstein, the fast-break series chronicles the professional and personal lives of the 1980s Lakers, one of sports’ most revered and dominant dynasties — a team that defined its era both on and off the court.
Epps plays Richard Pryor, the prolific and boundary-breaking comedian who lived the Hollywood dream, sometimes in excess.
Conti portrays Paula Abdul. Before she was a decade-defining pop star, Paula Abdul was just a high school student from the San Fernando Valley, moonlighting as the innovative choreographer for the Laker Girls.

In the second of our James Bond retrospectives, we look at From Russia With Love, starring Sean Connery...
Two films in and the James Bond franchise reaches its artistic highpoint. Downhill from here? Certainly for some; others won’t see what the hype is. Yet critically, From Russia with Love remains the darling: a gritty, almost-plausible tale of gypsies, Spectre and sex tapes. It boasts a whole array of brilliant characters and a fight scene to make Daniel Craig crap his paints. Anyone who claims the film is slightly dull has my opposition and my sneaking respect.
The Villain (s): Spectre. A real team effort here. Until the release of Bond 24 (which it seems fair to bet will feature the organisation pretty heavily) From Russia With Love remains the definitive exploration of the creatively acronymed gang. (SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion.) Chief of Operations Rosa Klebb is calculating,...

In true, lazy journalist cut-and-paste fashion, here is the ultimate question-and-answer session with Bullet in the Face writer and producer Alan Spencer. The upcoming 6-part TV series starring Eddie Izzard and Eric Roberts airs on IFC, and is darkly comedic, or comedically dark, or absurdly thrilling. There’s just no one way to categorize it (read our review here).
What was the impetus for making Bullet in the Face darker and more violent than most comedies?
You mean when compared to the behind the scenes of Two & a Half Men?
When I originally wrote Sledge Hammer! as a feature film during the late seventies, it was actually quite violent in keeping with the spirit of the genre that inspired it, namely lone vigilante cops that took the law into their own hands and strangled it with a vengeance. The people around town who read it back then, agents and executives,...

This new IFC original series from Alan Spencer is far darker, more violent, and mind-bending than his classic comedic 80s series Sledge Hammer!.
Set in a city called Bruteville, which is neither American nor European but vaguely both, Bullet in the Face is a grim and violent study of modern film noir in explicit graphic novel style. Far darker and more brutal than most comedies, Bullet in the Face utilizes a sleazy cast of characters covering the tropes of crime stories: the tough-as-nails, brassy female police commissioner; the true-blue cop mourning the death of his partner; the eccentric and fabulously wealthy crime lord; the mysterious, deceitful femme fatale.

Ray Richmond contributes to Deadline’s TV coverage. When IFC and Sundance Channel president Evan Shapiro departed his post in April, the forthcoming IFC original comedy Bullet In The Face lost its biggest champion. And champions are exactly what a show like Bullet needs considering that the broad, over-the-top half-hour may be the most violent comedy in television history. According to sources, when IFC execs screened the six-episode series, there was shock and nervousness in the room. And now the controversial Bullet, which was not mentioned during IFC’s upfront presentation in March, is being scheduled in a very odd pattern: three episodes back-to-back on two consecutive nights, August 16 and August 17, from 10 Pm-11:30 Pm. The uncertainty of what to do with Bullet In The Face is understandable. While its first three screened episodes show it to be uproarious and twisted, it’s also rife with cinematic-level violence and wildly politically incorrect imagery.
