Exclusive: Peter Hoare has been tapped by producers Joe Russo (The Greatest Beer Run Ever) and Jordan Finnegan to pen the script for Reply All, a new film based on the viral, true story of Will Novak, an Arizona family man who was the unintended recipient of an invitation to a bachelor party in Vermont.
The story dates back to 2019, when Novak received an invitation to “Angelo’s Bachelor Party” that was intended for a different William Novak. But rather than informing the group that they had reached the wrong person, he instead let them know that he would be attending.
Novak quickly designed a GoFundMe page titled “Help Me Go to The Bachelor Party Of A Complete Stranger” which raised funds to cover the entire trip in two hours. And as the story got out onto social media, several corporate brands began to reach out,...

Coming of age is always a lot less fun when you’re already grown up, a truth astutely understood in “Standing Up, Falling Down.”
Chronicling a stand-up comedian’s disgraceful return home after failing to make waves in Hollywood, director Matt Ratner targets the humiliation, disappointment and awkwardness of failing at a youthful dream while suggesting that those feelings only keep going — and only incrementally get easier — no matter how old you get. Ben Schwartz and Billy Crystal make a solid pair of intergenerational pals in this pleasantly diverting comedy-drama.
Schwartz (“Sonic the Hedgehog”) plays Scott, a comedian we first see halfheartedly warming up a crowd next to the bathroom in a coffee shop. Like too many other dreamers, he headed West hoping to stake a claim as the next great stand-up, but now he’s moving back to live with his parents in Long Island, tail tucked between his...

Sometimes your dream isn’t much of a dream at all. Maybe reality sets in after you’re already well along the path taken in error. Perhaps the epiphany arrives before you’ve sacrificed the correct choice in order to choose wrong. Ask Scott Rollins (Ben Schwartz) and he’ll probably tell you it can even be both at once if you happen to have two dreams vying for your attention. For him it was a career in stand-up comedy and the woman (Eloise Mumford’s Becky) he saw himself building a life beside. The former invigorated him while the latter instilled a debilitating fear. So what did he do? Packed up a suitcase, flew to Los Angeles, and left everything else behind in New York. And now, four years later, he’s back.
Which was the mistake, though? Pursuing success? Or saying goodbye—itself a metaphor considering he didn...

Well, this is it, folks. Time to talk about one of the most important film events of the year — the Cannes Film Festival — and which buzzy titles are up for grabs this year.
There’s a hot package starring Chris Hemsworth and Tiffany Haddish titled “Down Under Cover.” Roland Emmerich directs a sci-fi project called “Moonfall.” Newly minted Oscar winner Olivia Colman stars with Anthony Hopkins in a drama called “The Father.” And Anthony Mackie reunites with “Avengers” co-star Samuel L. Jackson in “The Banker,” while the Russo Brothers reteam with Tom Holland for “Cherry.”
This year’s lineup features everything from space odysseys to WWII dramas to rom-coms to political dramas. Some directors are heading back to the Croisette for their sixth time to compete (“Oh Mercy!” director Arnaud Desplechin), while others, like Florian Zeller, are traveling to the French Riviera town for the first time.

Never being a fan of Knight Rider, I never really paid attention to David Hasselhoff, but gathered he was a good-looking actor with limited range and skills. Somewhere along the way, he continued getting work in projects both good and bad and built a fan base (I hear he’s really big in Germany). As a result, I missed when he crossed the cultural equator and became comfortable with the ridicule and self-parody. He’s accepted where he fits in pop culture and has gone on to embrace it as witnessed by his hysterical ‘70s-era music video found on the Blu-ray of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
And now, from Universal Home Entertainment, is Killing Hasselhoff, a direct-to-dvd release that finds him the target of an amateur assassin. This sloppy, slight comedy stars Ken Jeong as a nightclub owner in debt to loan shark Wasserstein (Will Sasso). Unable to...

Ken Jeong (The Hangover, Community) has signed on to star in a comedy currently known as Untitled Celebrity Death Pool. In it, he will play a nightclub owner who is in debt to a loan shark, so he sets out to win his long-running celebrity death pool by killing his chosen celebrity... David Hasselhoff.
What makes this even more awesome is the fact that Hasselhoff himself is also on board to co-star in the film. He's also producing it with WWE Studios President Michael Luisi and Hyde Park’s Amritraj, Michele Berk, Patrick Hughes, and Warren Zide.
If you didn't think this news could get any better, you are wrong, because Hulk Hogan also signed on for a role! This film seems like it will be full of cameos, but the actors mentioned here are the only ones that have been revealed so far.

When an outright bad pairing take the reigns for two wonky screenwriters on a movie about a Vin Diesel-portrayed robot who acts as the emotional uplift of a child? Keep up a happy face and continue your day. Nevertheless, Deadline reports that Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (I Am Number Four, TV’s Smallville) will pen a new draft of The Machine; Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant had written the original script, which attracted Diesel and, possibly, director Peter Segal. (The latter is not mentioned in Deadline’s story, however. Perhaps his talks fell through.)
The former’s incarnation — which I don’t expect to change all too greatly — revolved around a government-designed robot that was built to be “the world’s first true ultimate weapon.” Despite being put out of commission for around twenty years, a young boy uncovers him, using the creature as both a toy and friend.
