Carlos Alcaraz arrived in Paris with very few matches on clay, but his stellar start in the French capital put worries aside.
Clay is a very specific surface on which players need some time to really get into a rhythm. They have to figure out movement and timing, which are quite different from other surfaces.
It's not easy to just roll out of bed and dominate on clay without any practice. Alcaraz dealt with an injury for much of this clay season, which basically meant that he arrived in Paris with very few matches under his belt.
He didn't think it would be a huge issue ahead of the event, and it certainly proved that way so far. He's been playing really well so far at the 2024 Roland Garros, and he spoke about that after beating Felix Auger-Aliassime.
For Alcaraz, the most important thing is believing in himself, and that's never been a problem.

Taylor Townsend showed her big heart when he comforted Leylah Fernandez after losing in the 2023 Roland Garros doubles final.
As the last ball was hit, and the umpire announced the result of the 2023 Roland Garros Wta doubles final match in favor of Su-Wei Hsieh and Xinyu Wang, the celebrations started on Court Philippe Chatrier.
However, on the other side of the court, Leylah Fernandez was really disappointed after losing her maiden Grand Slam doubles final as the duo fell short in a tight three-set battle, losing 6-1, 6-7(5), 1-6.
Despite the scoreline, the story of this final stretched beyond the boundaries of statistics, game, set, and match. Instead, it was a story of camaraderie, empathy, and the human spirit personified through the comforting embrace of Townsend to a visibly disappointed Fernandez.
With previous experiences of Grand Slam finals each, Townsend and Fernandez were no strangers to the intense pressure that these events command.

Paris, June 8 (Ians) Former French Open champion Chris Evert believes that defending champion and world No.1 Iga Swiatek “hasn’t been tested” in the Roland Garros this year and praised her for finding her ‘A-Game’ when it mattered.
In a rematch of the last year’s French Open final, Swiatek maintained her undefeated record against Coco Gauff as she improved her head-to-head against the American to 7-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory on Court Philippe Chatrier on Wednesday.

Carlos Alcaraz 's level of quality on display during his Roland Garros quarter-final win over Stefanos Tsitsipas left pundit Tim Henman stunned.
Alcaraz raced to a three sets victory against world number five Tsitsipas and the Spanish player comfortably won 6-2, 6-1, 7-6. Although Tsitsipas later admitted that he wasn't at his best due to scheduling sleep and melatonin pills , the standard Alcaraz showed in the emphatic win cannot be underestimated.
After his one-sided victory against Tsitsipas, Alcaraz has received widespread praise for the way he dispatched a potentially tricky opponent with such ease. During his punditry role with Eurosport, Tim Henman praised the way Alcaraz dominated, which was made even more impressive against a player of Tsitsipas' ability.

The first Roland Garros match on Philippe Chatrier this year was a very interesting battle between Aryna Sabalenka and Marta Kostyuk.
It's not by chance that this match ended up opening the event on Philippe Chatrier. It's a match that had many storylines leading up to it with a few things that were quite predictable. Kostyuk playing quite well was predictable as was the victory of Sabalenka.
Another thing that was predictable was the absence of a post-match handshake. It didn't happen and it resulted in the French crowd booing Kostyuk for what they perceived was a lack of respect. Sabalenka was asked about it after the match and she didn't think it was necessarily disrespectful.
I don't think so. I understand why they are not shaking hands with us. I can imagine if they gonna shake hands with us, and then what's going happen to them from Ukrainian side.

Marta Kostyuk slammed the fans that booed her after her first-round loss at the 2023 Roland Garros.
The first-round match at the second Grand Slam of the season between Aryna Sabalenka and Marta Kostyuk was a highly-anticipated one, but it was much shorter than some probably expected. The Belarusian won in two sets, but the main talking point was the absence of a handshake.
Already before the match, Sabalenka said that she was ready for it but fans at the Court Philippe Chatrier weren't. After Kostyuk refused to shake hands with her opponent, fans started booing and they also booed her off the court.
After the match, the Ukrainian talked to the press, and she was really sad about the fact that fans in the French capital booed her, even saying that they should feel embarrassed for their actions.

The first-round match between Aryna Sabalenka and Marta Kostyuk at the 2023 Roland Garros ended in a really weird way.
The conflict between their home countries, Belarus and Ukraine, seeped into the professional tennis world, setting a unique and strained dynamic for their first-round clash on Court Philippe Chatrier.
Prior to the match, both players shared their thoughts on the situation. Paris, April 22 (Ians) The traditional night sessions at this year’s French Open will start 30 minutes than that of the last edition, the tournament director Amelie Mauresmo said in a press conference.

Laura Robson considers Rafael Nadal to be the Roland Garros favourite despite not playing since the Australian Open.
No player in history has ever been as dominant as Nadal at Roland Garros so this opinion doesn't surprise anybody. No other player has dominated any event in history as much as Nadal dominated the French Open and for many people, it's simply impossible to bet against him on Philippe Chatrier.
Robson is certainly not willing to do that as she watched him win the event last year without problems despite playing on a numb foot. He's not that much in better health this year but despite the problems, for her, he's still the man to beat there as she revealed to Eurosport.
