He is a renowned Cape Breton fiddler and folk music icon. He began playing the fiddle as a teenager. He worked for the Canadian National Railroad for about 45 years, but also played fiddle at folk concerts, dances, benefits, and on radio and TV. He began recording albums at the age of 65 after retiring from his railroad job.
